Executive Summary
Our Understanding of Your Goals With fewer IT resources, the need to manage critical data and applications, as well as
government regulations, businesses face tremendous IT challenges due to high cost and
business impact of planned and unplanned outages and disruptions. The cost and
complexity of architecting, implementing, and managing enterprise storage infrastructures
can be substantial. And when the needs of the dynamic enterprise inevitably change
often quickly and even dramatically static systems require reprovisioning, which causes
disruption and increases management overhead and risk. To address this, IT
organizations often must overprovision allocating more storage resources than may
actually be needed

demanding service level agreements (SLAs) for the most common operating systems,
including Microsoft® Windows®, UNIX® and Linux®. And when requirements change,
you can add or replace host interfaces, grow capacity, add cache and reconfigure the
system on the fly—ensuring that it will keep pace with your growing company.
This multidimensional scalability allows a DS5000 series storage system to extend
beyond the normal three- to four-year life cycle, protecting your storage investment by
delaying (or even eliminating) the expense of migrating data to a new system and
allowing you to amortize acquisition costs over extended periods of time. This life-cycle
longevity enables DS5000 storage systems to continue delivering value long after other
systems have been retired. With drive-level encryption DS5000 series systems support
affordable data security with no performance penalty. And the DS5000 storage system’s
multiple replication options, drive level encryption, and persistent cache backup can help
ensure that any data in cache is captured and safe in the event of a power outage.

IBM Local Representative Office On May 26, 1937, IBM began operations in Indonesia under the name of Watson Bedriffs
machine Java NV. The first machine we sold was a data processing machine to Staat
Spoorwagens - a government owned Train Company in Bandung - during the first era of
computerization in Indonesia.
In 1953, Watson Java NV became IBM Indonesia Ltd, NV with 11 employees, of which 8
were Indonesian. And the number of IBM customers continued to grow. IBM Indonesia
Ltd NV continued its operations until the set up of PT USI Jaya as a special agent for IBM
in Indonesia, under government regulations at that time requiring all foreign companies
has to be represented by a local partner.
The year 2000 marks an important milestone for IBM in Indonesia. In 1999, IBM applied
for and received government approval to set up PT IBM Indonesia, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of IBM World Trade Corporation. PT IBM Indonesia is responsible for the sales
and marketing activities for IBM hardware, software products and services in the country.
As of December 2009, IBM Indonesia has more than 500 employees, and we have
moved to our new office building at The Plaza Building in Plaza Indonesia Super Block
