“No, you don't know what it's like When nothing feels all right

You don't know what it's like To be like me To be hurt To feel lost

To be left out in the dark To be kicked when you're down

To feel like you've been pushed around To be on the edge of breaking down

And no one's there to save you No, you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life”

- Only 10 studies have been conducted in the United States on bullying and people with developmental disabilities

- Children with disabilities were two to three times more likely to be victims of bullying than their peers without disabilities.

- The bullying happened more often and was most often related to their disability.

Wall, Wheaton and Zuver, 2009

• Ask the person to share what has happened or is happening

• Listen and be fully present with the person
