Saint James Hospital in Tripoli has been operational for the past 5 years, continu-ously striving to improve and expand on the medical services available in Libya through the employment of qualified and experienced personnel and the constant investment in new equipment.

Originally launched as an Out Patient Clinic, Saint James is now a round the clock hospital with an in-patient facility. Saint James Hospital in Libya offers a comprehensive service all under one roof.

In addition to the resident foreign and local doctors and surgeons, visiting specialists from various countries are flown to Libya to hold consultation clinics and perform surgical interventions in their respective specialities.

Aiming to become an internationally acknowledged location of choice for health-care and a centre of excellence, Saint James Hospital Group is committed to maintaining the Group’s position as the providers of outstanding and innovative healthcare. GENERAL PRACTICE


At Saint James Hospital we offer 24/7 General Practitioner Services. We currently have 3 Expatriate Resident Medical Officers (General Practitioners) who are solely focused on operating our out patients clinic on a 24/7 basis.

Our members are given a dedicated emergency number which will allow the pa-tient to speak directly to the GP on duty. We strive to find and successfully treat medical conditions before they become serious enough to require hospitalization or emergency treatment. We also provide follow-up, continuity of care, pharmacy assistance, and supportive services to help patients in need. All our physicians have special training and interest in specific areas, including women’s health, sports medicine, geriatrics, asthma, school problems, depression, pediatrics, and other fields.


We strive to find and successfully treat medical conditions before they become serious enough to require hospitalization or emergency treatment. We also provide follow-up, continuity of care, pharmacy assistance, and supportive services to help patients in need.

Saint James Hospital operates 24/7 ambulance service to cover the range of Tripoli and its surrounding areas. We can meet your operational needs as well as those of the patient in the shortest time possible.

Our contracted members are assigned an independent 24-hour emergency number in case of required immediate care response.

Every call out is manned by BLS/ACLS certified personnel a trained driver and a doctor. Our professional ambulance crew provides first class care and handling, responding to a range of patient movement needs and emergency incidents. All personnel are trained and certified by Life skills Medical the UK’s largest provider of pre hospital care. Our vehicles are front line A&E ambulances equipped to UK and EU specifications

OPERATING THEATRE


There are 2 functioning operating theatres within Saint James Hospital in Libya in which a variety of procedures are carried out. 1 theatre is dedicated to endoscopy including capsule endoscopy while the second is a general theatre.

The general theatre is equipped with anaesthesia equipment, full monitoring facilities, piped medical gases which include oxygen, N20, and compressed air. General surgery, cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, urology and gynaecology are all performed. All theatre equipment is backed by an independent ‘Uniterrupted Power Supply’ which ensures no loss of power during surgery.


The theatre suite also houses an immediate recovery area from which a patient is transferred to an individual room.

The individual rooms are highly finished and include: Ensuite facilities, Individually controlled Air Conditioning, Flat Screen TV with Satellite Channels and Wireless Inter-net.

All meals for the patient will be catered for by the hospital including teas, coffees and snacks available through out the day and night.

At the Dental & Implantology Unit we have the skill, know-how and extensive experience in implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and the treatment of complex restorative cases that has earned us an outstanding reputation for excellence.

We provide a comprehensive range of services from regular dental examinations, treatment such as fillings, teeth whitening and dental hygiene services, root canal treatments and specialist Children’s dentistry to dental implant surgery and a com-plete cosmetic dentistry smile re-design.

Specialist and general treatments are offered within the Unit. All dentists are able to provide treatment, however, at the Dental & Implantology Unit specialist work is performed by the particular specialist required. This enables us to offer the standard of care that we would wish our own families to have.

We offer the latest techniques in cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening, dental implants, and veneers. We treat all aspects of general dentistry from simple fillings, to a scale and polish and tooth extractions using the finest materials and the latest technology.


LABORATORY


St. James Medical Laboratory provides a comprehensive pathology service covering the major medical laboratory disciplines of Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Haematology, Endocrinology, Immunology, Microbiology, Histology and Cytology, Molecular Diagnostics (PCR) and Food Microbiology.Expert method development and validation is also available.

The laboratory is staffed by Biomedical Scientists, Consultant Pathologists and Consultant Scientists who are available to provide clinical direction, interpreta-tion of results and to give medical advice. Where appropriate Saint James Medical Laboratory out-sources tests to other accredited or specialist laboratories including The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) in London, UK to ensure that all requests are fully complied with.

Saint James Medical Laboratory is dedicated to the provision of a total quality service and to meet this goal employs a high caliber of Consultant Medical, Scientific and Administrative staff. Structured in-house training programmes and external continuous education schemes ensure that the laboratory staff constantly update their knowledge, refine their skills and remain aware of new developments.

In order to monitor the accuracy and precision of analysis, all laboratory tests are carried out with strict adherence to well-established standard operating procedures and a stringent quality control programme is incorporated into the laboratory daily routine.
