MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE May 19, 2020 To the Members of Burnaby Minor Hockey Association (“BMHA”): We hope you are all healthy and safe during this time. Thank you for doing what you can to assist our community and our Province. Everyone has a role to play. The summer is almost upon us and many people are likely wondering what minor sports will look like when play is able to resume. Recent announcements from the Province of British Columbia (the “Province”) have motivated sport governing bodies to develop return to play guidelines. Minor hockey is no exception and BC Hockey, with direction from Hockey Canada, is working on these guidelines. These guidelines will require collaboration with the Province, the City of Burnaby, and our governing bodies. The Executive is busy planning for a 2020-2021 season. At this time, we do not know what the coming season will look like, however, we will follow the guidelines set by the Province, the City of Burnaby, and our governing bodies. We will ensure that minor hockey returns to Burnaby in a responsible and safe manner. Please follow this link to hear what Hockey Canada has to say. Thank you for your patience as we work through the return to play procedures. It is our goal to promote the game of hockey in our community in a safe and responsible way. We recognize the importance of the mental and physical benefits of keeping our children active and engaged in activities and we are excited to be an option to families. You can be confident that when the Province is ready for minor hockey to resume, BMHA will be ready. THANK YOU BMHA FRONT LINE HELPERS! We wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of the BMHA members who are on the front lines helping to fight coronavirus – from those of you who are doctors, nurses and medical workers caring for people, to teachers, grocery store workers and truck drivers ensuring essential goods and services are still available. MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE
May 19, 2020
To the Members of Burnaby Minor Hockey Association (“BMHA”):
We hope you are all healthy and safe during this time. Thank you for doing what you can to assist our community and
our Province. Everyone has a role to play.
The summer is almost upon us and many people are likely wondering what minor sports will look like when play is able
to resume. Recent announcements from the Province of British Columbia (the “Province”) have motivated sport
governing bodies to develop return to play guidelines. Minor hockey is no exception and BC Hockey, with direction
from Hockey Canada, is working on these guidelines. These guidelines will require collaboration with the Province, the
City of Burnaby, and our governing bodies.
The Executive is busy planning for a 2020-2021 season. At this time, we do not know what the coming season will look
like, however, we will follow the guidelines set by the Province, the City of Burnaby, and our governing bodies. We will
ensure that minor hockey returns to Burnaby in a responsible and safe manner.
Please follow this link to hear what Hockey Canada has to say.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the return to play procedures. It is our goal to promote the game of
hockey in our community in a safe and responsible way. We recognize the importance of the mental and physical
benefits of keeping our children active and engaged in activities and we are excited to be an option to families. You can
be confident that when the Province is ready for minor hockey to resume, BMHA will be ready.
THANK YOU BMHA FRONT LINE HELPERS!
We wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of the BMHA
members who are on the front lines helping to fight coronavirus –
from those of you who are doctors, nurses and medical workers
caring for people, to teachers, grocery store workers and truck
drivers ensuring essential goods and services are still available.
There are so many of you out there, but here are just a few:
The fees for the 2020/21 season will remain the same as last season:
Given the current situation, there will be options for payment of registration fees this season:
• Pay the full amount at the time of registration; or
• Pay a $300 deposit at the time of registration, with the remainder of the registration fees due on August 15,
2020 (the amount will be automatically charged to the credit card provided for payment at time of registration).
For those interested in signing up for Rep Tryouts, the deadline is now July 31st – not August 1st as in past years. As a
note, rep tryout fees are to be paid in full at the time of registration and must be paid on or before 11:59 pm July 31,
2020.
The registration fees have been set based on a full season of hockey. If there is no season, there will be a full refund. If
there is a season, the refund policy will be amended based on when the season starts. If an isolation order is issued by
the Province after the season starts, a pro-rated refund will be considered depending on the actual costs of the season. This information will be posted to the website shortly.
For any registration questions, please contact David Jacobucci at [email protected].
The AGM is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020. The AGM will be held virtually using
appropriate software that will allow for attendance and voting control. Further details on
the software to be used and attendance / voting eligibility will be sent out to the
membership in early June.

GRADUATING MIDGET RING RECIPIENTS – Congratulations!
Each year, the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association celebrates the minor hockey careers of
our graduating Midget hockey players who have dedicated a minimum of eight consecutive
years to our Association. This season, this recognition will be given to players who were
born in 2002 and have played this past season and continuously with the Burnaby Minor
Hockey Association since at least the 2012/2013 season. At thirty-three players, this is one
of our largest graduating classes in many years! Congratulations to them all!
