On June 16, first-year students are assigned a temporary registration begin time. On July 8, a start time for July 12 or 13 will be assigned.

Select Step 2: Add/Drop Classes
If you receive this message, you have a hold on your account and you are not able to add or drop courses. To view the type of hold, click View Holds.
If you have a financial hold on your account, you will need to contact Accounting Services by email [email protected] or by phone 902 867-2123 to make arrangements to have the hold lifted.
In the Add Classes Worksheet, enter the CRNs of the courses you have chosen. A CRN is the 5-digit course reference number associated with each section. Be sure to enter the CRNs of any co-requisite labs. You may select the CRNs from the timetable at http://sites.stfx.ca/registrars_office/Course_Timetable
Or you may use the Class Search function which allows you to search for specific courses and filter your results.
Clicking the CRN link will allow you to view detailed course information.
Selecting the course gives the option to register right away or add it to your worksheet while you continue with your schedule.
Select View Catalogue Entry to view the course description.

Once you have entered the CRNs, click Submit Changes.
The Current Schedule section displays all successful registrations.
Registration ErrorIn this example, a student tried to register for BIOL 111 without registering for the required lab BIOL 111L which resulted in a co-requisite error. Solution: Enter the CRN of the course and the CRN of the corresponding lab in the Add Classes Worksheet, then click Submit Changes.
Registration ErrorIn this example, the PSYC 100.11 course is scheduled for the same time as the CHEM 100L.11A lab which resulted in a time conflict error.Solution: Choose another section or class by entering the CRN in the Add Classes Worksheet, then click Submit Changes.
Common Error Messages
• MAX HOURS EXCEEDED: Students are permitted to register in 30 credits over the full academic year. The engineering program permits students to register in 36 credits. If you wish to register in additional courses, complete the Application for an Overload (Extra Course) form on mesAmis. After you complete the application, click submit to send it to the Office of the Registrar. An average of 65 in the previous year is required. You will be notified of the decision via your StFX email. Overloads will not be approved for first year students.
• PREQ and TEST SCORE ERROR, COLLEGE, MAJOR, PROGRAM or DEGREE RESTRICTION: View the course registration errors and restriction information at http://www.sites.stfx.ca/registrars_office/registration. If there are valid reasons as to why you should to be considered for this course, complete the Application for Override form on mesAmis. Copy and paste the form into an email and send it to the department chair or as indicated on the override form. The chair’s approval is required. Once granted the professor or department assistant will enter the specific override. You must then register for the course via Banner.
• CLOSED SECTION: The section is full, choose another. If there are valid reasons as to why you should be considered for this course, complete the Application for Override on mesAmis. Copy and paste the form into an email and send it to the department chair or as indicated on the override form. The chair’s approval is required. Once granted the professor or department assistant will enter the specific override. You must then register for the course via Banner.
• TIME CONFLICT: Choose another section or course.
• CO-REQUISITE ERROR: Looks like CORQ_CHEM 100L 40483 REQ 31004 CHEM 100 11A. This course requires that you register for the lab (co-requisite means required with). In this example, CHEM 100.11A has a lab CHEM 100L.11A. You must register for both CRNs. Enter the CRN of the course and the CRN of the lab. Submit changes.
• DUPLICATE COURSE: Select a different course.
Helpful Hint:
If you are having difficulty finding courses that are not closed and that fit into your schedule, print your
partial schedule and then use the “search by subject” in the class search.
This search will allow you to see which courses are still open. Match an available course with an available
time block in your schedule.
This is the total number of credits in which you have successfully registered. A normal course load is 30 credits. Diploma in Engineering students are permitted to register in 36 credits.
