DESPICABLE SLINK( 1 ) jumped smartly and led throughout. DESPICABLE WAYNE( 5 ) was slow to begin, and lost ground in the back straight, tailing out, finishing a distant last. PROUD RACER( 2 ) raced wide at the turn in to the back straight, checking IRINKA SERENA( 7 ), causing IRINKA SERENA( 7 ) to lose ground, and also commence to tail out. Stewards intended to have both DESPICABLE WAYNE( 5 ) and IRINKA SERENA( 7 ) swabbed due to the poor performances, however it become apparent after the race that DESPICABLE WAYNE( 5 ) had dropped the near side back muscle, with a 42 day incapacitation period imposed. Stewards still had IRINKA SERENA( 7 ) secured away with a urine sample to be obtained, with the greyhound to be veterinary examined following the taking of the swab. The winner of this event DESPICABLE SLINK( 1 ) was locked away for a Urine Sample to be obtained at the Direction of Stewards. Stewards spoke to both trainers M Pryce and S Easey regarding the performance of IRINKA SERENA( 7 ), and the significant betting support for the winner. Stewards were informed that the kennel had not supported the winner, nor any of the three kennel mates in the race. With regards to the performance of IRINKA SERENA( 7 ), Mr Pryce advised Stewards that the greyhound was having it’s first start for him tonight, and was disappointed with the performance, expecting IRINKA SERENA( 7 ) to lead from it’s suitable outside draw, and could not account for the disappointing performance. Connections also presented DESPICABLE QUINN( 4 ) for a veterinary examination, which disclosed a torn nail on the off side fore foot, and a spike wound to the off side fore foot. 5 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued. IRINKA SERENA( 7 ) was vetted and was found to have injured the off side fore stopper tendon, and strained the near side back muscle. 21 Days Incapacitation Certificate issued.
