U4ia•Identified a target market.•Created flats, plaids, and prints based off a fictional company and our color story.•Applied garments to a fashion figure.
Dreamweaver•Developed a website using Dreamweaver software based off the fashions created in U4ia.•Had to appeal to target market and make all links clickable.
AATCC Submission•Created an inspiration board based on the AATCC 2007 theme environment.•Using the inspiration board created four patterns using U4ia.•I used different line styles and images and combined them with images I extracted from photos.
Illustrator•Created line drawings of swimsuits for men, woman, and children.•Selected a theme and applied graphics to different garments.
Flats•In Kaledo Style used the pen tool combined with the components library to create flats and apply color to them.
Kaledo Print•Used Kaledo Print to scan in a pattern, clean and correct for bad repeats, and recolor.•Used Kaledo Style to apply the pattern to a scanned in Illustration.
Kaledo Knit•The panels on the right show three different types of knits, all featuring different colors, yarn types, and densities.•The argyle panels below I created in Kaledo Knit and recolored.
Kaledo Weave•Used Kaledo Weave to create different weave and check patterns and recolor them.
Abercrombie & Fitch Project•Used Kaledo Weave to create a “roll out” plaid.•Used Kaledo Print to create patterns featuring the A&F name and logo.•Had to keep the brand identity, target customer, and color story in mind.
PSDI Internship•Assisted at an Elvis Shoes photo shoot, where this advertisement was taken.•Assisted at WSA trade show, below.•Basic office tasks include trend forecasting, using a light box to photograph shoes, create spreadsheets in Excel, use Illustrator to make corrections on spec sheets, and keep both the PSDI shoe wall and the reference shoe wall clean and organized.
Pattern Making•Sketched a garment by hand and again in Illustrator.•Created a pattern based off of measurements found using the 3D body scanner and a sloper pattern.•Used those pattern pieces to create a finished garment.
“All Shook Up” Volunteer Work•Volunteered to make costumes for Clintondale Community Theaters production of All Shook Up.•Created garments that represented the late 1950’s and were able to withstand many performances and dress rehearsals while still looking good on stage and allowed the performers to dance in them.
Illustration•Demonstrated the correct proportions for the fashion figure.•Used prism color markers, water color, and colored pencils to add color and create depth.
Advanced Illustration: Children•Learned the correct proportions of the child fashion figure.•Used Prisma Color markers and color pencils to give the illustrations color and depth.
Advanced Illustration: Men’s Wear•Learned how to draw the male fashion figure.•Demonstrated these techniques and used Prisma Color markers and colored pencil to give the illustrations color and depth.
Advanced Illustration: Plus Size•Learned the correct proportions of the plus size fashion figure.•Used Prisma Color markers and colored pencils to give the illustration color and depth.
Functional Design: Solve a Problem•After research found that many men who work in the manual labor industry get hot and uncomfortable.•As a group we decided to reconstruct men’s boxer briefs using fabric treated with OutlastTM temperature control finish.•After surveying many local men in the manual labor industry found the key problems they had with their underwear and tried to solve those the best we could.•We made slight adjustments to the basic boxer brief design, including changing the man pouch.•After completion we showed this project in SCREE (Student Research & Creative Endeavors Exhibition).
Catalog Design•Used Adobe Photoshop to create a promotional catalog for Limited Too.•The top picture shows the cover of the magazine and features the store name and logo.•The bottom picture shows the inside cover and first page of the catalog and features popular sundresses.
Trend Forecasting•Created a color forecasting board for spring/summer 2009.•Shows a lot of green, yellow, and other earth inspired tones and prints.•Overall the board has carefree and eco-friendly tones.
Human Solutions Body Scanner•Used to find out exact measurements.•Utilized measurements when creating garment patterns.
Excel Skills/Basic Principles of Fashion Buying•Used Excel to input a factional six month dollar plan for Perry’s department store.•Used formulas to input many of the numbers.•Created a chart using the chart wizard.
Elements and Principles of Design•Sample from a notebook I created showing all the elements and principles of design.•The pink dress illustrates texture, repetition, and pattern.•The mint dress shows shape, form, space, repetition, gradation, and scale.•The bright photo on the bottom shows color, repetition, rhythm, and unity.
