Well hasn't it been a busy start to the 2018 Netball Season!! I would like to take this moment to formally welcome all of our new members to STEELERS Netball Club. It is always

great to see new faces around the place and hearing the amazing stories about why you chose STEELERS. I would also like to welcome back our members returning for yet another season in our netball family.

In 2018, we have increased our teams to 21 – a club record which is made up with athletes from Net Set Go Year two to open members of ages they would rather not discuss!!!! The introduction of the Junior STEELERS is great for the

club as it is providing plenty of development opportunities for our players, umpires and coaches.

While it has been a busy few months for our members getting netball ready and focused it has been a very busy few months for our hard-working executive committee. The start of the season is always a busy time for them with the organising of equipment, appointment of coaches, managers, captains and umpires, managing our first fundraising drive, registering players and collecting money, ensuring all new members are fitted for their uniform, registering teams with WDNA after our grading and running our first club event. If you see our AMAZING committee around the

place, please give them a shout out.

There are a lot of exciting things happening around the club so please take a moment to read through this newsletter. By now everyone should have ordered their playing uniform.

A reminder that our compulsory playing uniform consists of: A-line STEELERS dress

the 2017/2018 and 2019 Supporter top with RBT Fitness, T & H Steel and LOAN WA logos on the back – all members must ensure they have this shirt to wear on game day. With our

Juniors starting this year STEELERS is offering Junior members the supporter top for FREE if the playing order if paid in full at time of ordering.

STEELERS boy leg shorts For all males in the club they are asked to purchase the STEELERS Singlet and supporter shirt

Uniforms are due to arrive in two orders being 17.04 and 20.04. We will be emailing members to come and collect their uniforms. Uniforms will ONLY be distributed if paid in

full. Fees also need to be paid in full or on an agreed payment plan to receive your uniform. Our supporter gear is now on sale. While we carry some stick of socks and bags everything else must be ordered. We only have two more supporter order dates being 18.04.2018 and

25.04.2018 at the WDNA courts, under the veranda area 6:30pm – 8:00pm, so make sure you come along to put your order in.

All managers have now collected their equipment bags for the 2018 season – THANK YOU!!

Please note that as a manager you have agreed to take responsibility of the bag for the duration of the season. If an item is lost the team will be charged

replacement costs so please look after the contents. If you find an item faulty please let us know ASAP so we can replace it for you

– the earlier we know we can sometimes take them back to the supplier.

Umpires are invaluable. Without them we do not have a game to play. They are also the only position in a small not for profit netball club that gets paid for their services.

As a club, we are committed to ensuring our umpires are the most up to date with all the

development and umpiring news – so umpires please check your emails regularly. With the season, just about on us all umpires are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the officials meeting on Wednesday 18.04.2018 to sign their payment contract and receive their umpiring

fixtures. More details have been emailed to you.

was? Each book holds the game results, team

images, individual shots as well as photos from all of our events.

ON THE SIDELINES Our club policy is that during training, parents are not permitted to sit on the side of the courts. This is to ensure

the full focus is on the coach and training plan. Parents are welcome to watch from the verandah area.

MEMBER SAFETY As we highlighted in our recent emails, due to security incidents in the car park over the last few years,

players must be picked up inside the gates by parents after training. Our committee also keeps an eye on players but please also be aware of your safety.

TRAINING Please ensure players come to training as they would a game. Nails cut, jewelry off including earrings and enough water for their session. Please ensure their clothes are layered so they can remove clothing when they get warm.

TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS was a great day out. Everyone in attendance had a great time meeting team mates, playing bowls, meeting club people and indulging on supporter

uniform deals. The day was topped off with a guest appearance from West Coast Fever’s Verity Charles who answered all our netball questions and stuck around for a one on

one, autograph and a cheeky pic!

One function is down and we are already planning the next.

2017 saw our first wine tour and 2018 will see our first pub crawl.

RSVP only accepted with payment. Limited spaces available so get in quick

We are also in the midst of planning our annual quiz night hosted by Lochie Reid and Courtney Murphy. This event sold out

last year so start planning your tables of 10 now. We are looking at the July break so be careful when planning your

holidays !
