Welcome to this Morning Conference in Manchester. Today was originally designed as a reaction to the changing occupier demand and mix as the digital sector selected the city as a location of choice and maybe identified the North West as an alternative to London’s Silicon Roundabout. However as we travelled along this road with our partners, Argent and MAG Airport City, it became apparent that the bigger picture was that the UK Cities are rapidly emerging as a real opportunity for developers and investors. As a consequence the various schemes talked about today are now leading the debate and showing how Manchester and the North West can help redress the balance. Not quite the proverbial green shoots, more like a bright light at the end of a digital cable.
Finally, a very special thanks to the Argent and The Hive team who have had faith in me as the Conference Enabler and supported this event. Trust is a special potion. Thank you.
Matthew Battle, Chair, UK Property Forums
PS I am pleased to also announce today that the UK Property Forums will be the official property conference partner for the 2014 International Festival of Business to be held in Liverpool next Summer. This is an exciting challenge for me and I am keen to begin the process of developing content and partners for the conference with you today.
