Procedure/Method:
1. Tell students we are going to read a book that has these words FOOD CATERPILLAR BUTTERFLY
2. Introduce vocabulary words with picture icons and available objects. 3. Explore objects.
Talk about how a caterpillar turn into a butterfly
What do caterpillars sleep in?
What happens when they eat and rest in their cocoon?
Has anyone ever seen a butterfly? 4. Present core words: LOOK/TOUCH and IN
- Students will look/touch at the different foods the caterpillar eats
Let’s read the book and find out what the caterpillar eats!

words. Friday: FORMAL ASSESSMENT to assess knowledge of vocabulary words.
Use the same sheet to record answers choices for
the Informal and Formal assessment. Procedure/Method:
1. Review vocabulary words using the picture icons and/or objects for the words. 2. Read the book, using the picture icons and/or objects for the vocabulary
words. 3. Assess the vocabulary words:
Present the two object/picture icon choices. Mark the picture icon that the student chooses. Mark answers on the worksheet.

Match the picture icons or objects to the picture rolled on the dice. Tally each picture in the correct column on the graph.
