Key words: Stative verb, dialog and Interchange Book of the Third Edition.
Stative verb is a kind of grammar. Actually, it is not well known by several
English Education Department student of Muria Kudus University. Although they
know that learning language without understanding its grammar makes them difficult
to master English language. Interchange book of the third edition has many dialogs
that can be analyzed in order to show them what types of stative verbs are and how to
use it. From the previous explanation, the writer is curious to conduct a research
entitled “Stative Verb Found in the Dialog of Interchange Book of the Third
Edition”. The purpose of this research can be formulated as follows; (1) To identify the
types of stative verb found in the dialog of Interchange book of the third edition and
(2) To explain the percentages of types of stative verb found in the dialog of
Interchange book of the third edition.
The design of this research is descriptive qualitative research exactly content
analysis. So, the writer uses document analysis as the way to analyze the data.
The result of this research are; 1) The types of stative verb found in the dialog
of Interchange book of the third edition are (1) Verb of Sense that are 52 clauses, (2)
Verb of Emotion that are 76 clauses, (3) Verb of Perception that are 54 clauses, (5)
Verb of Relationship that are 502 clauses and the type of stative verb not found in the
dialog of Interchange book of the third edition is (4) Verb of Measurement. 2) The
percentages of types of stative verb found in the dialog of Interchange book of the
third edition are (1) Verb of Sense that are 7.60%, (2) Verb of Emotion that are
11.11%, (3) Verb of Perception that are 7.89% and (5) Verb of Relationship that are
73.40%. So, the dominant types of stative verb found in the dialog of Interchange
book of the third edition is verb of relationship and verb of measurement is not found
anymore.
Then, the writer is going to give several valuable suggestions related to the
result of research; 1) for the students; they are suggested to enrich their knowledge
grammar especially in stative verb in the dialog, they can analyze stative verb in
many kinds of texts in their daily life such as articles, novels, short stories or movie
script in order to develop their understanding, 2) for the lecturers; they are suggested
to use stative verb analysis in dialog or other kinds of texts to teach stative verb to
their students, they also should motivate their students to explore and develop their
students‟ grammar knowledge and 3) for the further researchers; they are suggested
to develop this research in other field or specify this research be more detail.

Kata kerja statis merupakan salah satu jenis tata bahasa. Beberapa mahasiswa
program studi bahasa Inggris Universitas Muria Kudus kurang mengetahui dengan
baik kata kerja statis tersebut meskipun mereka tahu bahwa belajar bahasa Inggris
tanpa memahami tata bahasanya membuat mereka mengalami kesulitan. Buku
Interchange edisi ketiga ini terdapat beberapa dialog yang dapat dianalisis agar
mereka mengetahui jenis-jenis kata kerja statis dan cara penggunaannya. Dari
penjelasan tersebut, penulis berkeinginan untuk melakukan penelitian dengan judul
“Kata Kerja Statis yang Ditemukan pada Buku Interchange Edisi Ketiga”.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini dapat dirumuskan sebagai berikut; (1) untuk
mengidentifikasi jenis kata kerja statis yang ditemukan dalam dialog pada buku
Interchange edisi ketiga dan (2) untuk menjelaskan persentase jenis kata kerja statis
yang ditemukan dalam dialog pada buku Interchange edisi ketiga.
Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif khususnya analisis
isi. Jadi, penulis menggunakan analisis dokumen sebagai cara untuk menganalisis
data.
Hasil penelitian ini; 1) Jenis-jenis kata kerja statis yang ditemukan dalam
dialog pada buku Interchange edisi ketiga adalah (1) Kata kerja Indera terdapat 52
klausa, (2) Kata kerja Emosi terdapat 76 klausa, (3) Kata kerja Persepsi terdapat 54
klausa, (5) Kata kerja Hubungan terdapat 502 klausa dan jenis kata kerja statis yang
tidak ditemukan dalam dialog pada buku Interchange edisi ketiga adalah (4) kata
kerja ukuran. 2) persentase jenis kata kerja statis ditemukan dalam dialog pada buku
Interchange edisi ketiga adalah (1) Kata kerja Indera terdapat 7.60%, (2) Kata kerja
Emosi terdapat 11.11%, (3) Kata kerja Persepsi terdapat 7.89% dan (5) Kata kerja
Hubungan terdapat 73.40%. Jadi, jenis kata kerja statis yang dominan adalah kata
kerja hubungan dan kata kerja ukuran tidak ditemukan sama sekali.
Saran yang berharga terkait dengan hasil penelitian ini; (1) untuk mahasiswa;
mereka disarankan untuk memperkaya tata bahasa pengetahuan mereka tentang kata
kerja statis dalam dialog berbentuk teks, mereka dapat menganalisis kata kerja statis
dalam berbagai jenis teks dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka seperti artikel, novel,
cerpen atau naskah film dalam rangka untuk mengembangkan pemahaman mereka,
(2) bagi dosen; mereka disarankan untuk menggunakan analisis kata kerja statis
dalam dialog atau jenis teks lainnya untuk mengajarkan kata kerja statis kepada
mahasiswa mereka, mereka juga sebaiknya memotivasi mahasiswa mereka untuk
mengkaji dan mengembangkan pengetahuan tata bahasa mahasiswa mereka dan (3)
untuk peneliti berikutnya; mereka disarankan untuk mengembangkan penelitian ini
dalam bidang lain atau menentukan penelitian ini lebih detail.
