• Criminal statistical surveys in Serbia are published by the Judicial and Gender Statistics Groups within the Republic Statistical Office (Serbian RSO).

• A survey implies statistical collection and processing of data on reported, indicted, and convicted adult and minor offenders.

• Such surveys have been conducted in Serbia since 1953.

Surveys

reporting units – municipal (basic) and district (high) public prosecutor offices and courts

data sources – final prosecutors decisions and valid court convictions/decisions

data control – performed by RSO (coding, data entry, logical and mathematical control, tabulation)

presentation of survey results – publications (statements, bulletins, yearbook) and RSO web site

Four regular annual offender surveys:

• Survey of adults against whom criminal charges were brought and the pre-trial proceedings completed – reported adultsreported adults

• Survey of adult offenders against whom criminal proceedings were completed with a valid court decision – indicted and convicted adultsindicted and convicted adults

• Survey of minors against whom criminal charges were brought and the pre-trial proceedings completed – reported minorsreported minors

• Survey of minors against whom criminal proceedings before the council were completed – indicted and convicted minorsindicted and convicted minors
