Friendswood Junior High Choir4 FJH choir members participated in the Texas Choral Directors Assoc. Elementary Honor Choir in San Antonio this summer. Kate Humlicek, Emma Ryan, Anna McHenry & Alice Nguyen with teachers Carrie Hall, Laura Rachita, & Glynis David.

Brooke Humlicek & Margaret Otto had the unique opportunity to be involvd in a demonstration choir during one of the state clinician’s workshops.

Friendswood ISD Earns State’s Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating

• FISD received a rating of “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability rating system. The rating system measures the quality of a school district’s financial management and reporting. The Superior Achievement rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of FISD’sfinancial management and reporting system.

National Merit Semifinalists

Five Friendswood High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship competition. They include Molly M. Chen, Thomas J. Chenette, Hannah Hall, Julia J. Lu, and Stephanie A. Ngo.

FHS’ commended students consists of Andrew Adcox, Anne Balderrama, Benjamin Beck, Andrew Bynum,, Matthew Chenette, Cooper Dixon, Derek Hudson, Sean Jankowski, Rachel Jensen, Yumna Khan, Sarah Mai, Kaitlin Martin, Edward Pettit, Evan Roper, ShanikaSilva, Sam Slusky, Jonathan Snowden, Andrew Stone, Vivian Tat, Robert Todd, Olivia Williams and Westin Williams.

National Hispanic Recognition

Four Friendswood High School seniors have been named 2014-2015 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars. These include Andrew Adcox, Anne Balderrama, Bishop Lopez, and Robert Todd.

Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle Platinum Award

New Platinum Award for

financial transparency

given to only 123 districts in more

than 1050 ISDs in Texas. Second

FHS Marching Band ties for 14th

at 6A Contest in San Antonio

• FHS is 14th out of 245 State HS Bands.

Mustang Band

• In the past 12 years under Greg Dick’s direction, FHS has placed more students in the All-State Band than any other school in our music region.

• FHS's 10 6A All-State band musicians number the 3rd highest of any 6A high school in Texas.

FHS Band has 13 make Orchestra

Record breaking amount. Most of all other schools in area.

13 freshmanMustang Band members earned positions in the 9th Grade Region 17 Band. They do not play a concert; it is an honor group only.

The 13 Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors performed in the Region Orchestra concert.

NRG-Reliant Foundation Athlete

• Sarah Redding, nominated by her coach, is one of 8 students in the Greater Houston Metroplex to receive $5000 for outstanding academics, community service, and athletic skills. This is our first time to receive this.

Wranglerettes march in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

The Friendswood High School Wranglerettes enjoyed a bit of the national spotlight as they spent their holiday performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They also appeared on the NYC Today Show.

• Friendswood High School Teacher, Mrs. Dianne Hanegan, Chosen Outstanding Teacher of American History of the Year by Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution

• National Spanish Exam-2nd Place/Michael Fowler

• Adrian Falco: senior alto saxophone member of FHS Band won 2 major competitions

•Clear Lake Symphony Senior Concerto Competition playing Fantasia by Claude T. Smith. He will perform Fantasia on March 27, 2015, with the Clear Lake Symphony.

•First place in the American Protege International Brass and Winds competition. He was one of four that received Judges’ Distinction. He will perform in a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City on March 21, 2015.

•Made All-State Band three times consecutively.

• Deployed 2,818 chromebooks and 390 ipads/mini.

• Increased internet bandwidth from 100 megabits per second to 300 mbps.

• From first day of school till now, average for billing is 247 mbps.

• Bandwidth biggest peak was 496 mbps.

Greg Dick

• In the past 12 years under Greg Dick’s direction, FHS has placed more students in the All-State Band than any other school in our music region.

• He presented at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and The Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.

• He is on the Sudler Flag Committee of the John Philip Sousa Foundation.

• He serves on the School Task Force of the American Bandmasters Association.

Katy Webb- FJH

• Science Teacher Mentor (STM) through the Texas Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching (TRC). There are only 1,261 STMs in the state of Texas.

• Presented two sessions at the 2015 Annual Regional Science Teachers Conference in Galveston.

• Presented two sessions at the 8th Annual Texas Stem Conference in Austin.
