Despite a statewide decrease in health insurance coverage, more Iredell residents were covered in 2005 than in 2004. There are differences by gender, age, income, etc. One positive change from 2004: insurance coverage for “other” increased from 63.1% to 72.3%. BRFSS

Iredell residents smoke more than the state average and fewer Iredell residents never started than across the state. There are trends in smoking percentages by gender, race, age, education and income, but none are terrifically striking.

Percent of survey respondents who said they had ever been tested for HIV, not including blood donation.

Iredell residents are about as likely to have been tested for HIV as others across the state. Young adults were more likely to get tested than older adults (45+ years). Close to 3% of people in Iredell reported participating in high risk behaviors that are associated with more effective HIV transmission. BRFSS
