Consider the following statements:
Individuals or groups working together can usually produce better work than individuals or groups working in isolation.
There is no piece of work that with more time, thought and effort couldn’t be improved.
Individuals or groups working together can usually produce better work than individuals or groups working in isolation.
There is no piece of work that with more time, thought and effort couldn’t be improved.
Individually, think of a time…
With a partner, share your story…
Peer Review Process
The emphasis is on improving the work. The atmosphere is one of “we’re in this together.” Our single purpose is… “to make a good thing even better.”
Peer Review Process Rationale: The Iowa Core… major priority for teaching &
learning in Iowa
Implementation intended as a working plan of action… adjusted on a regular basis
Strength & success of implementation enhanced through collaboration within & among schools
Best opportunity to positively impact student learning in each & every classroom across Iowa
to provide and receive feedback on the Iowa Core Implementation Plan… a collaborative, on-going process for strengthening the plan and its implementation
Peer Review Process Purpose
To be effective, there are two beliefs that participants need to consider…
1. Individuals or groups working together can usually produce better work than individuals or groups working in isolation.
2. There is no piece of work that with more time, thought and effort couldn’t be improved.

EXAMPLE: For the most part, you identified one priority area for each Outcome you presented. This will most likely serve you better than if you had identified several priorities for each of these Outcomes. While there is a tremendous amount of work to do… setting priorities and sticking to them should help to ensure that the actions you take are targeted and focused at all times.
EXAMPLE: …creating a visual of some sort that represents the content of your implementation plan- and that “at a glance” can serve as a reminder of where you are in the larger process? (perhaps a GANTT chart)
EXAMPLE: …how will you incorporate teachers’ individual career development plans into your overall Iowa Core implementation plan?

Thank You!
Following are several optional slides that may be used.
The first is a “Today at a Glance” slide for use with an afternoon session.
Next is a Process slide with the times adjusted for TRIADS. Next is a stopwatch backdrop slide- again for use with TRIADS.
Finally, six slides have been included that could be used in place of slides 11 and 13. (If you don’t want to use the stopwatch as I did during the demo- but would rather use your own timer, you may want to pull these slides into your PPT in place of slides 11 and 13. They just provide a visual reminder for participants regarding the step of the review process they are on, the time allotted for each step, and the configuration of teams during the step.)
Again, the following slides have been provided for you to use in customizing the facilitation to meet your unique situation- and are optional.
