Introduction The Trailer Monitor is a diagnostic system mounted on the side of the trailer to read mileage, diagnostic codes and other information from the ECU. The Trailer Monitor is connected to the “DIAG” diagnostic plug of the ECU. When the ECU is supplied via its normal voltage source (ISO 7638 permanent), information, which can later be retrieved, is transmitted to the memory of the Trailer Monitor. The power is supplied from the vehicle system via the diagnostic plug of the ECU. The Trailer Monitor comprises an LCD display and three keys: up-arrow, down-arrow and OK. Two different versions of the Trailer Monitor are available: 1. Trailer Monitor with ADR approval, without internal battery. 2. Trailer Monitor without ADR approval (not for hazardous goods), including bat-
tery. The internal battery ensures that information (including error display) can be read when the system is not connected to a power source The Trailer Monitor does not need to be shut off. If none of the display buttons is pushed, the Trailer Monitor disables itself after approximately 1 minute if operated in battery mode. The ADR version (without battery) of the Trailer Monitor can only be operated when the ECO Tronic EBS is supplied with power.
