Starting point
The number of men and women of each group or nation that becomes
aware of being creators and promoters of the culture of their own
community continues to increase. The sense of independence and
responsibility which is of prime importance for the spiritual and moral
maturity of humanity is developing all over the world. It appears even
clearer if we bear in mind world unification and the task we are called to
accomplish, that is to build a better world in truth and justice. In this
way we give testimony to the birth of a new humanism in which man is
identified first of all by his responsibility towards his brothers and
sisters and towards history. (GS, 55)
