Fee Remission on Part-time CoursesThis brochure gives an overview of fees that may be payable for part-time courses. Please see our websites or contact our Customer Service teams for further details on all of our course fees. We have similar funding so therefore our fee policies are very similar too. This gives you a general overview of what funding support there is dependent on individual circumstances.

Funding will always be dependent on your specific circumstances so this is only a general guide.

Funding for employers changes during the year so please enquire to find out if there is any current funding support available.

Please do not hesitate to contact Customer Services if you would like to discuss your individual circumstances.

Fees are made up of several elements tuition fees; awarding organisation registration fees or examination and certification fees; and course specific charges. The amount of fees you may have to pay is dependent on your age as well as a range of other factors.

You may not have to pay fees on funded Further Education courses if you fall into one of the following categories:

Aged 16-18 enrolling on a course with a subsidised fee Aged 19-23 and studying Entry or Level 1 and have not

attained a full Level 2 or above Aged 19-23 and studying a course that qualifies you for

your first full Level 2 entitlement Aged 19-23 and studying a course that qualifies you for

your first full Level 3 entitlement You wish to study English or maths and have not already

attained a GCSE grade A*-C in these subjects Aged 19 or over and studying a course up to and

including Level 2 and are classed as ‘unemployed’ (see definition below)

Definition of Unemployed - For fee remission purposes a learner is defined as ‘unemployed’ if one or more of the following apply:

You receive Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), including those receiving National Insurance credits only

You receive Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and are in the work-related activity group (WRAG)

You receive Universal Credit, earn either less than 16 times the National Minimum Wage a week or £330 a month and are determined by Jobcentre Plus (JCP) as being in one of the following groups:

All Work-Related Requirements Group Work Preparation Group Work-Focused Interview Group

At the College's discretion we will waiver the tuition fee (subsidised fee only) if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits listed below and both statements apply:

1. You earn either less than 16 times the National Minimum Wage a week or £330 a month.

2. If you want to be employed or progress into sustainable employment. The course must be directly related to your employment prospects and local labour market needs.

You must also be receiving one of the below benefits: Working /Child Tax Credit (annual income is less than

£15,276 and you hold a valid NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate)

Council Tax Benefit Income Support Housing Benefit Pension Credits

If you are claiming fee remission due to being in receipt of a state benefit you will be required to provide proof of receiving the stated benefits and sign a declaration that you are seeking employment.

Please note: Fee remission is only available on courses with a subsidised fee.

Persons aged under 16 – If you are under 16 please enquire at Customer Services regarding fees, as for school age students, these may be considerably higher than stated in this brochure.

Persons aged 19 or over – You may have an entitlement to funding if this is your first full Level 3 course and you are aged 19-23, otherwise the course will be subject to the full fee (irrespective of employment status) and you should enquire at Customer Services regarding an Advanced Learning Loan, which may be available for full Level 3 and 4 qualifications.

Overseas Students – The fees listed in this brochure are for UK and EU/EEA citizens and may vary if you are from outside these areas. If you are an overseas student please discuss the cost of your course with Customer Services.

Paying for your course:If you are on a low income – If you are not eligible for a fee remission and are concerned that you may not be able to afford the fee, there may be funding to help adults on a low income with costs associated with learning. For information please contact the Customer Services teams.

When and how to pay – All fees shown are due to be paid when you enrol. Fees can be paid by cash, cheque, debit or credit card or direct debit (North Lindsey College only - subject to length and cost of the course)

If your employer is paying the fees you must provide a letter of authority or purchase order at the time of enrolment.

If you intend to pay for your course (in whole or in part) with an Advanced Learning Loan, evidence must be shown when you enrol.
