The IEEE Maker Project will be hosted online from May 17, 2017, through October 17, 2017, and is open to individuals 18 years or older. Tom Coughlin, Chair of the IEEE Public Visibility Committee, IEEE Senior member and lifelong advocate of the maker movement, will serve as the host of this competition and its video series on the IEEEorg YouTube channel. The contest submission categories are: Accessibility, Education, Entertainment, Health & Safety, Sustainability and Transportation. Finalists in each submission category will receive a $50 Amazon gift card in their local currency and have their project spotlighted on IEEE Transmitter. The second prize winner will receive an additional $250. The grand prize winner’s project will be spotlighted on IEEE Transmitter, receive a $500 Amazon gift card and a 1-hour video mentoring session with Tom Coughlin. All are invited to participate in voting for their favorite Maker project online at http://transmitter.ieee.org/makerproject/. Community members may vote once a day until October 17, 2017.
