GREEN WARRIORS (ECO CLUB)

Eco Clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future

generation. In our college we have an eco-club ‘known as ‘ANNITES THE GREEN

WARRIORS’, which plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst

the future generation and performs activities to save the environment, like planting trees,

organizing poster, competitions on various environmental issues.

GREEN WARRIORS is a voluntary group which promotes the participation of students in

learning about, and improving their environment a means by which students and youth can

organize themselves to learn more and this issue, and also take action to improve their

immediate environment.

Objectives of GREEN WARRIORS (Eco Club):-

To educate the students about their environment.

To create a clean and green consciousness among students through various

innovative

methods.

To mobilize students towards scientific enquiry into environmental problem.

To involve them in efforts to preserve environment.

To motivate students how to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste

generation.

Procedure:

Organization Formation & Operation -

1. Announcements - Faculty coordinator should submit proposal to the Principal and IQAC

for Approval of club for the academic year.

2. Nominations: The nominations are taken from fellow class mates and seniors in mid July.

This is the best time to encourage students to sign up for your club. Clubs may sign up

members at any time while they are active.

Faculty Coordinator: The club moderator shall be involved in the scheduling (times,

locations, etc.) of club meetings, Club coordinators are to submit the tentative plan of event,

date, and budget to the faculty coordinator. Faculty Coordinator then presents the proposal to

the Principal and IQAC. Coordinators must also be present at all official club meetings,

events, activities, etc

Meetings: Club volunteers are required to meet at least one (1) time per month and are to the

as the requirements of conducting the activities/events.

Volunteer Coordinator/President:

a. Shall create a form for Members to indicate interest in those committee(s) they

would like to serve on.

b. Shall select volunteers for events/activities and make the names available to

Committee chairs.

c. Shall maintain the Club’s inventories

d. Shall be responsible for taking of attendance during the activities.

The activities include:

1. Motivate the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking plantation

of trees.

2. Promote ethos of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water.

3. Motivate students to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation, source

separation of waste and disposing the waste to the nearest storage point.

4. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to stop

the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases.

5. Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public

places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide breeding ground for

mosquitoes.

6. Organize tree plantation programmes, awareness programmes such as Quiz, essay, painting

competitions, rallies, etc. regarding various environmental issues and educate children about

re-use of waste material & preparation of products out of waste.

7. Organize Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know about the

Biodiversity

Green Warrior club can thus help to extend boundaries and scope of the formal educational

system encouraging creativity, and improving students for constructive action.

St Anne’s First Grade College for Women focuses on engendering a culture of conservation

into the minds of students. As an outcome of this thought process, the college instituted the

Eco-club known as ‘ANNITES: THE GREEN WARRIORS’.

The club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the students

and performs activities to conserve and protect the environment, like planting trees,

organizing poster competitions, initiating waste management techniques on campus, creating

awareness on practices that have harmful effects on our environment. The Club promotes the

participation of students in activities that promote environmental protection and conservation

and thereby aiding to sustainable development.

protect the environment. It helps build attitudes to help individuals and social groups acquire

a set of values and feelings of concern for environment and the motivation for actively

participating in environmental improvement and protection. It also teaches skills to help

individuals and social groups to identify and solve environmental problems and offer

solutions to protect and conserve our nature and environment in the best way possible.

“Keep green and keep our planet clean”

St Anne’s First Grade College for Women inaugurated the Green Warriors Club at D12 on 5th

June 2018 .Eco clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the

future generation. The Principal and Vice Principal along with Green warrior coordinators

Mrs.Shymala ,Ms.Vinaya ,MsAnitha and Mrs Suman and faculities from various departments

along with students attended this programme. The day bloomed with the invocation followed

by lighting the candle by the dignitaries. There was a pledge taken by the Green warrior

members to protect our mother earth in all the possible ways for giving a much cleaner,

greener and safer environment . The main objective of introducing this club was to bring

awareness among the students to save environment and making them a more responsible

citizens. Finally ,the programme ended with the vote of thanks by the student President of

Green Warriors Club .

BPAC is organizing Trash- a- thon (eye opening on trash disposal)Swachhta waste

management segregation on 13th March 2018 under the supervision of Green warrior

an awareness programme on waste management and segregation and an eye opening session

From 8 August 2018, severe floods affected the south Indian state of Kerala, due to unusually

high rainfall during the monsoon season leading to a lot of damage in the Kerala stateGreen

clubs and committees requested the students to donate and help the Kerala flood relief

.Green Warriors Club of St Anne’s First Grade College for Women organized a visit to

Lalbagh on 29th August 2018 along with Green warrior coordinators Mrs.Shymala

,Ms.Vinaya ,MsAnitha and Mrs. Suman. Lalbagh Botanical Garden is home to India’s largest

and myriad collection of over 1000 species of tropical plants, it was an eye catching session

for the students and eye opening session in understanding the importance of plantation and

trees.

The volunteers of Eco Club gave awareness to the public and visited the nursery, sampling

and varieties of plants in horticulture session in Lalbagh.

friendly Ganesha under the supervision of Green warrior coordinators Mrs.Shymala,

Ms.Vinaya, MsAnitha and Mrs Suman. Eco-friendly Ganesha idols are made from paper

pulp, natural colours and natural gums. Members of the eco club were asked to make a model

FIELD TRIP TO ROSE PLANTATION FARM REPORT-2018

Green Warriors Club of St Anne’s First Grade College for Women and the volunteers visited

a rose farm in the place Lakundalli along with Green warrior coordinators Mrs. Shymala

,Ms.Vinaya ,Ms.Anitha and Mrs. Suman. The farmers there gave a brief information on how

roses are cultivated. The farmer gave a brief description on how the roses are planted, grown

& sold in the market. Along with the rose plantation the farmers had grown chilli plant &

GREEN AUDIT 2018-2019

*INTRODUCTION:

Once a year the green warriors conduct a green audit to inspect all the plants that

are growing inside the college campus are healthy and to see to that there are

enough plants inside the college campus to promote the idea of an eco-friendly

environment for the students.

*OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY:

The main objective of the green audit is to promote the environment management and

conservation inside the college campus.

*OBSERVATIONS:

1) SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION TO CLASSES:

Each year all the classes are given a small sampling to take care each class does their best

to take care of the sampling by giving it the necessary water it requires to grow and by

placing it under the sunlight. Volunteers of the Eco-club(Green warriors) are assigned to

monitor the class participation.

2) E-WASTE:

Electronic waste is also collected in the campus and is disposed off

So there is no electronic waste in the campus and it does not harm the environment.

3) USAGE OF PLASTIC:

It is seen to that the usage of plastic is minimized as much as possible as it has a very

toxic nature and is harmful for the environment. It is seen to that the canteen also

minimize the usage of plastic. Annual checking is done by the volunteers of the club to

see to that usage off plastic is reduced.

Rain water harvesting is also done in the college to conserve the water which is collecting

during the rain and is further used in the college campus.

The green warriors make sure that the college is always eco-friendly in all possible ways

so that there is no harm done to the environment. Volunteers from the club are always on

the lookout for new ideas and innovation to help improve the college environment as

much as possible. They are always on a look out for things which can help lift the

environment. Through green audit we find out how many plant are there in the college

campus and how any more can be included in the process so the college always stays

green and environment friendly.

SWACHHTA WASTE MANAGEMENT SEGREGATION REPORT-2018

The Green Warriors club of St Anne’s First Grade College for Women in collaboration with

BPAC organised Swachhta waste management segregation on 2nd October 2018 with the

guidance of Green warrior coordinators Mrs.Shymala ,Ms.Vinaya ,MsAnitha and Mrs

Suman. Waste management are the activities and actions which were conducted to manage

waste from its inception to its final disposal. Waste segregation was conducted to provide an

awareness on dividing waste into dry and wet .The BPAC members gave an awareness

program on waste management and segregation to the students in the college campus .And

the members of Green warriors along with BPAC members went in and around Vasanthnagar

area to enhance the understanding and awareness on waste management and segregation to

the general public. It also acted as an interaction session of the students with the general

public. The outcome of the activity was to protect the environment for the health and safety

of the population by the Green Warriors club.

The volunteers of various clubs such as human rights club and the NSS club(National Service

Scheme) along with the Green Warriors had gone to visit a government school to spread

awareness about women empowerment, hygiene . The school authorities were very

corporative with the volunteers as they performed a mime act and a small skit on women

empowerment. After the skit and the mime play books and stationery were distributed among

VASANTH NAGAR, INDIAN EXPRESS AND CONTONMENT Report 2019

Date: 6/2/2019

The girls of St Anne’s F.G college women took an initiative to go on for a traffic awareness

campaign 3/2/2019. The girls made placards stating few traffic quotes (rules). We were

accompanied with our lecturers to guide us. We started the campaign from Vasanthnagar

police station and we thank the police officers for allowing us and cooperating with us. The

girls held the placards and walked through the zebra crossing when the signal was on.

Give way for ambulance and emergency vehicles

The motorists must move left making way for the ambulance on hearing the siren.

Instead of clearing and pulling to the side of the road when an emergency

vehicles approaches, many motorists are racing ahead of ambulances and fire trucks

or following closely behind them to pass more quickly through traffic.

The placards helped the people in the signal and they actually started responding to it. It was

a means of communication used to convey the message. As we all know traffic rules are very

important it can save many lives if we follow it properly. This awareness campaign was very

helpful and many of us realized how important it is to follow the traffic rules. We thank our

college to for this opportunity
