NASSER AL MAWLAWI Stand and Deliver I often think of Qatar and thank Allah for blessing me and my family with the oppor- tunities that this wonderful country has to offer its citizens, its visitors and residents. I think of how fortunate we are as a nation and as a united people, I think of everyday blessings that some people tend to take for granted, things such as health, education, safety and security and wonder what would my life be like if I were born elsewhere where life was not so blessed?. I see so much suffering through the media in so many parts of the world and I thank Allah for this wonderful country that fills me with enthusiasm to serve it to the best of my ability, to stand and deliver, to play my part and live up to my country's expectations of me. I would like to ask all who agree with me and all who share these feelings of ap- preciation to strive to be the best that they can be, to work harder at self improvement, at skill development, at knowledge en- hancement and acquisition. Working hard is not always enough to achieve success, working smart is more effective and yields better results. This is why we are currently reviewing and re-orienting our strategy and operational plans and going through a mas- sive change management programme and we stand little chance of success without the human capital needed for the execution of our objectives. I would like to see more of you championing our causes, rising up to the challenge, living up to the expectations, each and everyone of you has an impact in your perspective areas of the business, each of you has a role to play in our success and we believe that you will stand up and deliver. Stand and Deliver I often think of Qatar and thank Allah for
blessing me and my family with the oppor-
tunities that this wonderful country has to
offer its citizens, its visitors and residents.
I think of how fortunate we are as a nation
and as a united people, I think of everyday
blessings that some people tend to take for
granted, things such as health, education,
safety and security and wonder what would
my life be like if I were born elsewhere
where life was not so blessed?. I see so
much suffering through the media in so
many parts of the world and I thank Allah
for this wonderful country that fills me with
enthusiasm to serve it to the best of my

and live up to my country's expectations of

The President signs the Ashghal strategy with theme teams. Mr. Mawlawi asks all stakeholders to show
absolute commitment to strategy execution.
What is a Strategy? Strategy is a method
or plan chosen to
bring about a desired
future, such as
achievement of a
goal or solution to a
problem.
As many of you are aware and
were involved in the workshops,
discussions, team meetings and
exercises held over the past few
months, we
have now suc-
cessfully formu-
lated our new re
-oriented strate-
gy, which will
work as a clear
and precise road
map for plan-
ning, development and execu-
tion for many of our core pro-
jects and change programmes.
We are now going through a
truly comprehensive transfor-
mation process which will take
us to greater heights and
achievements of unparalleled
standards. The idea of a fluid,
flexible and adaptable strategy
in accordance with international
best practices is the best ap-
proach to a con-
stantly changing
world and environ-
ment around us,
who would have
thought we would
have won the world
cup hosting bid a
year ago? We have
to keep moving forward and
adapting to changes around us in
order to meet growth demands
for our nation, and our Economy
and facilitate urban development
in both existing and new com-
munities and provide our citi-
zens with world class services.
It is time for us to deliv-
er on our promises, it is
time that plans and
ideas are transformed
into tangible benefits
and services for our
