HARRY S TRUMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL My daughter has been influenced so greatly by Christina Attar not only academically but socially. Bailee has leadership qualities because she has such an extraordinary model as her teacher. Bailee wants to misbehave because she doesn't want to leave her classroom and go to 2nd grade!!! 3 cheers for Mrs. Attar! Beth Neitz I don't have any one comment about any single staff member at STSD--there would be too many for me to single out!! I had an overall positive experience as a student in Salisbury school district (class of '85!)--so much so that I am now raising my children in the district and find myself impressed and grateful to the teachers who are now educating my kids. I spent three years in the classroom myself as an educator (grades 7 and 8 -- English, Speech and Theatre) and realize what it takes to do the job and be good at it. I am now a counselor and see the effect teachers can have every day (both positive and negative) on kids and families. It has been said that you either become a teacher because you had exceptional teachers or because you had lousy ones. I am grateful and proud to say that in my case, it was because I had exceptional ones!! Keep doing what you do--it matters!!! :) Christy Yerk-Smith Barbara Samide truly cares for the students and staff. I appreciate her support, guidance, and compassion. I am thankful for all that she does! Jess Shirk I would like to thank everyone at HST. I enjoy working with such a wonderful and supportive group of people. The children at HST are lucky to have such incredibly talented, caring, and loving individuals working with them. It is my pleasure to be a part of this fantastic staff. Lori Fortunato Many thanks to Abby Miller for taking on a challenging project with my students. She agreed to the project with enthusiasm and confidence, and my students did a wonderful job under her guidance. Jean Schey I appreciate Doug Lapp for the many ways he helps our school. He is so positive and inspiring, and is always willing to help any staff member. He has shown dedication to all staff and students, and is committed to making our school excellent in every way. Thanks Doug! You are one of a kind! Jean Schey Jane Brennan has helped me and my students in so many ways! She has such a wonderful way with my students (and all students!) She is so full of enthusiasm and makes learning incredibly fun. Whenever we need materials, she makes sure we get them on time. Whatever we need, Jane finds a way to make it happen. Thanks Jane! Jean Schey

Christina Westfall is amazing! She has helped my students and I in big ways and small ways. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She is so pleasant to work with. I know that when I step into her office, I will come out with my problem solved. She always contacts me when a special event is coming up to make sure that I have everything I need. It is wonderful to work with Christina! Jean Schey I am so appreciative to work with Shannon Rooney. She has such a cheerful personality. Just speaking with her for a brief time always makes me feel happy. She is so kind and patient with my young students. She is a very caring person who is dedicated to making our school a very special place to be! Jean Schey I really appreciate Mrs. Brennan and Miss Westfall because they are so helpful to me and my 2nd grade class. We have taken on so many technology related projects this year and they always go above and beyond to help us. They make working at HST even better! Kristen Zellner Mr. Doug Lapp is a wonderful asset to the Salisbury School District. He is always pleasant, always very supportive with a quick story or bit of advice, is never too busy to help with whatever is needed. He displays a very positive attitude toward everything....no matter how much work it is or how messy things get. He is great with the kids and goes above and beyond his duties every single day!! The district is very lucky to have him!!! Julie Mokris Mr. Ed Nesfeder is a behind the scenes worker and most people never even realize how much he does for all four schools in the district. Ed is capable of and does all the repairs for the district. When things don't work, Ed fixes them and keeps the place running smoothly. Kudos to all Ed's abilities and willing to work with everyone!!! Julie Mokris Mrs. Jane Brennan is the Library teacher at Truman and sometimes Western. Jane displays a positive attitude at all times. She is great working with the children and truly cares for each and every one of them. With the passing of Western's librarian's husband Jane has filled in for both positions in the transition phase and has never complained about the extra work required of her. She is a wonderful inspiration for everyone to emulate in the district!! Julie Mokris Mrs. Judd and Mrs. Fortunato are wonderful teammates! Thank you for always being willing to share and for motivating me to do my best. I love working with you and look forward to seeing the difference you make in the lives of your children each day. Lori McGinley Mrs. Shirk is very thoughtful because she was the most kind teacher I know because she would always help you and tell you to do your best. Gracie Hawkinson

I am so appreciative of my mom as a teacher. She works so hard to teach her students and educate them for the rest of their lives. She is so wonderful to her students and she puts her blood, sweat and tears into her job. It is unbelievable that she is able spend so much time with her family and still work with her students. I love you mom! Nicholas Fortunato Mrs. Wied was a great gifted seminar teacher and we always had fun, but we still learned every period. I would always go to the chess club we had on Friday mornings and I would play chess with Ryan.

Zachary Stringer

SALISBURY HIGH SCHOOL Two of my children have had Mrs. Smith for biology. She is tough, makes the kids work and stretches their abilities. I have also seen her have compassion on those kids who really put out an effort. Mrs. Smith has helped my kids learn in an area where I am weak. She is a HUGE asset to the teaching staff!

Liz Kuhns Mrs. Terry Bruns is a fabulous teacher and an inspiration to all her students. She has helped my son many times and made him feel comfortable knowing she was in the high school for his freshman year! Thank you Mrs. Bruns for all you do! Donna McCandless I appreciate that Terry Bruns is at the High School. She is always in a good mood and always cheerfully says hello every morning. It is a really good way to start the morning. Mary Agnew I appreciate all the dedicated, hard-working, and professional staff members here at Salisbury. Their tireless commitment to educational excellence and the students of this district make me proud to be a part of such a caring, compassionate and resourceful group of educators! Mr. Michael Barna I appreciate the SHS Guidance Counselors - Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Kriner and Mrs. Stokes - because they provide the motivation, support, understanding and assistance that high school students need to be successful in their educational pursuits and social development. They are a great team and a pleasure to work with. Gail Zapf I appreciate the dedication of the teachers and staff at SHS. They truly represent what education is all about. They care about kids and want all students to succeed. I'm proud and grateful to be a part of the SHS family. Bill Dovico

I appreciate Mrs. Nora Perron-Jones for many reasons, including but not limited to: she is always extremely willing to be helpful, she is genuinely concerned about her staff and students, she is very caring and has a heart of gold (and may I add - she has a great sense of humor)!! Ellen Winkler I appreciate Mrs. Deb Pelc, administrative assistant to Mrs. Perron-Jones, Director of Special Education. There were many occasions over the past few years that Deb made sure she found work for me to do on the days that the student I work with was absent. Deb always greeted me with a big smile and took time out of her very busy schedule to find work for me to do. Deb never made me feel that I was disrupting her from doing her own work - although I'm sure that I did at times (not meaning to).

Ellen Winkler My colleagues in the English/LA department are the best! Each and every one of them goes way above their job description as a classroom teacher! They are always looking for new ways to engage their students, make learning relevant, meet each student's needs, and help each one be successful! I am blessed to have such a wonderful group of folks to work with. Robyn Balsai Working with Lucy Reinsmith is a joy, she is always smiling and full of laughter. Vicky Bohning Darien Conrad is the custodian who works in my wing at SHS. Darien does an amazing job on my classroom every night. Darien's efforts start my day positively, which in turn affect my teaching. Thank you, Darien for working to make Salisbury High School a great place to teach and learn. I am grateful. Krista Spradlin As a new teacher at SHS I am so grateful for the kindness that has been shown to me by the teaching, administrative and support staff this year. The administrative assistants, the cafeteria workers, the maintenance and custodial crews, and administration have all gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and at home. I feel lucky to work with this team at SHS. Krista Spradlin Aloma is one of nicest persons in the world. Every time I step onto bus 26, Aloma is there to give a warm welcome, and 25 minutes later...a wishful goodbye or "Have a good weekend!” She is so thoughtful and caring; it's fun to see her at the end of every day. Thanks Aloma! Michelle Dang I appreciate Mr. Frick because he is as good at being an educator as he is at being my father...that is to say exemplary! Adam Frick I look forward to Mrs. Kennedy's class every day, because she always makes it interesting and exciting. You never know what's going to happen or what new information you are going to learn. I've learned so much from her this year! Sarah Galantini

Mr. V is probably the funniest teacher I have ever had. He is so friendly in class and in the halls. You can't help but smile when you're around him. Thanks for brightening all of our days, V! Taylor Heverly Mrs. Wetherhold is the best teacher here, always making jokes and also getting the job done , she is the best! She is the most thoughtful teacher and she cares about every single one of her students. Daniel Hess-Correa Mrs. McGinty is an amazing teacher, always making sure, over my shoulder, that I am focused to get my work completed. She is always making jokes; she keeps us all at Salisbury entertained. Daniel Hess-Correa Mr. Koba’s class is awesome, because of his great sense of humor. Sam Undercuffler One of the reasons I appreciate Mr. Martrich's class so much is that it allows you to understand not only English, but why we study English. Why it's of vital importance to keep reading, and learning, and thinking, and forming interpretations, and then opening yourself up to the interpretations of others. The class has brought me a long way to understanding what meaning is, and how I can find it in my life. It's shown me beauty in sometimes unlikely places, like books that don't have to use flowery vocabulary to make deep and powerful statements. It's shown me that language itself can be beautiful, and using flowery vocabulary doesn't necessarily always indicate incorrigible pretension. :D It's that rare class that doesn't only prepare you for whatever the next class you'll be taking is, it prepares you for life, and how to cope with all of the complex and confusing situations therein. So thank you Mr. Martrich. It's been an awesome two years. Tommy Walters Mrs. Kennedy never fails to make us laugh in class, and she helps us learn so many new things! I'm so glad I got the chance to have her as a teacher. Lexi Chladny Thank you to Mr. Wagner for always standing strong behind his seniors, even if we might have really bad cases of senioritis! I'm really glad I took Calculus this year and it's my favorite class to be in. Many of my favorite moments from my last year at Salisbury took place in Room 107. I'll always be thankful for that and for Mr. Wagner. Jessicca Rosario Mr. Hilaire is a very helpful teacher. Mr. Hilaire helps students understand the basics of science. He keeps class fun. Peter Forestieri

I appreciate how Ms. A'Brunzo was always there for me and her students when troubles occur throughout their lives and academic issue. She always has been there for her student and always has a planned solution in order that student succeed in life and her class. She a great teacher, I love being her chemistry and environmental student. Thanks for giving me the opportunity of having me as your student and best of all as a second son. Thanks for everything! Marlon Moraga Ms. Piagesi is an amazing teacher. She always asks her students how we are going and she always complements us. She never fails to make me laugh. She is just a bundle of energy and I always look forward to her class. Kaylee Mr. Legath is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious and he is so entertaining. You learn so much in his health class. He teaches us everything we need to know health wise along with some life lessons that I will never forget. His gym class was so much fun. He was the gym class hero. I'm going to miss his classes a lot. Kaylee Mr. Koba is one of my favorite teachers. The way the class is taught is not always interesting, but he always finds a way to make it better. Mr. Koba needs a pat on the back for dealing with all the knuckle heads in our class. But I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to have him as my physical science teacher. He truly is a good guy. Jason Skibinski I admire Miss Quigg. She is a very caring, intelligent, and thoughtful teacher. She has taught me not just about English, but so much about being the best person I can be. Miss Quigg has touched my life significantly; just like she has touched every student that has stepped into her classroom. Sarah Galantini Miss Quigg taught me so much while i was at the middle school. She is one of the most dedicated, compassionate, and thoughtful teachers i have ever met. She has such enthusiasm when it comes to teaching and it really shows how much she truly loves her job. I want to thank you for always making me believe  in  myself  and  to  never  give  up.  Miss  Quigg,  you  left  such  an  impact  on  my  life  and  I’ll  never  forget you. Colette I appreciate every teacher I had during my time at SHS. Each one of them encouraged me each and every day to follow my dreams, to smile, and to just be the best I could be. To this day, I am thankful for each and every one of them because I would not be in college without them, especially, Mrs. Kriner and Mr. Wetherhold. Both of these staff members helped me to become the Electronic Media major I am today. Without them, I would be on a different path in the opposite direction of where I am right now. Media is what I can do and both of these people saw it in me from the beginning. Mrs. Kriner because every time I entered her office, she encouraged me to be what I wanted. She never told me I couldn't do it. Mr. Wetherhold because no matter what project he handed out, he was always so positive that I was able to handle it. And now in college, I am succeeding in media more than I ever thought. Thanks to everyone at SHS for always believing in me. You all are so amazing. No matter what, my success in college and in life are thanks to all of you. I appreciate everyone who has helped me in this journey and you deserve all the credit. You guys rock! :) Ashley Nedley

SALISBURY MIDDLE SCHOOL

I just want to acknowledge Ms. Quigg for her outstanding approach to handling my son's resistance towards school. My son is simply not a fan of school. His strengths lie in artistic design. Often, my son would create elaborate doodles on his assignments for Ms. Quigg, and from what I understand, rather than scolding him, she would praise him for his artistic strength and find ways to encourage him in art. This helped my son maintain a positive attitude in her class, therefore ultimately helping him to succeed in her classroom and improving his feelings about school in general. I can't thank her enough for her understanding and helping my son. This mother will remember her for keeping things positive in the classroom and using a strengths based approach to a unique kid. Thank you Ms. Quigg!

Shannon Minnick Ms. Quigg has been a wonderful teacher to my son who moved from a new school district this year. She is insightful and inspirational and really helped open up the world of language arts. We will miss her very much!

Jeri Forestieri Thank you Megan Basile for helping my son with his PJAS project! Your dedication towards your students is remarkable. The hours you have put forth before and after school with him has helped him design a product we are all proud of. Your patience and guidance with how he needs to prepare these types of projects is providing him with the foundation he needs for the future. Thanks again!

C. Yurconic Peggy Scholl is the best mentor a newbie could have! Hard as being new can be, I'd repeat this year with you again, Peggy! I can't thank you enough!

Karen McGuinness Mr. Hendricks (Head Cook) is an invaluable asset to SMS! He has an uplifting personality and amazing outlook on his work and life in general. He continually goes above and beyond to ensure that our students are happy and enjoy their lunch. It's refreshing to have a person in his position that is extremely student focused. He continually identifies our students as his customers and aims to please. He walks around the cafeteria on a daily basis, asking students what they thought about the lunch and soliciting ideas for improvement. Although there are MANY stipulations about what he can and can't provide, he does an excellent job of thinking "outside the box" to create options for our students. SMS is very fortunate to have him as part of our team!

Ken Parliman I appreciate Mrs. Castagna because she welcomed me as a new co-teacher into her classroom with open arms, and was always there to help with any questions or concerns I may have had. I also appreciate that she was eager to experiment and try new techniques within the classroom together.

Kara Bellis I appreciate Mrs. Yurconic because she has shared her educational wisdom and experiences with me. Mrs. Yurconic openly shared her skills, strategies, and theories relating to education with me, which has helped me to become a better teacher.

Kara Bellis

I appreciate Mrs. Klinger's ability to organize and coordinate. Many fabulous sixth grade activities would not have been possible without the help and dedication of Mrs. Klinger.

Kara Bellis I appreciate Mr. Beyer's enthusiasm for technology, and dedication to sharing his knowledge with our team. I also appreciate Mr. Beyer's willingness to share his knowledge and experience with Read180 with me.

Kara Bellis I appreciate Mr. Schweyer's flexibility, spontaneity, and sense of humor within the classroom. His passion and dedication to the children motivates and inspires me.

Kara Bellis I am so thankful to have Mrs. Brady as my classroom aide and co-teacher. I am appreciative that Mrs. Brady has years of classroom experience and can be such a great mentor within the classroom. I appreciate Mrs. Brady's enthusiasm for the children and the profession. Most importantly, I appreciate Mrs. Brady's friendship.

Kara Bellis I appreciate Mr. Vacaro's willingness to make time to mentor me throughout the school year. I am thankful that is always eager to share his knowledge and wisdom with me. I appreciate that Mr. Vacaro took the time to help welcome me to SMS and help make me feel a part of the SMS family.

Kara Bellis I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Barbara Weiss now for a number of years. Throughout this time, I have observed countless acts of kindness. Last year specifically, many of our learning support students were in Spanish. They were asked to bring in a food items to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Unfortunately, the students came in that day without anything. When they came in to school, Barbara distributed 3-4 containers of cookies to those students. She wanted to make sure that these young men had something to contribute to the celebration, so she went home and baked the previous night. Our district is blessed to have such a dedicated woman who never loses sight of what is most important; the children's emotional, social, and educational welfare.

Jennifer Kowalski When I think of what a teacher should be, I immediately think of Mr. Barry Frick. He is a master of his content, but more importantly a constant supporter to many of our students who often go unnoticed. Around Christmas time last year, Barry was talking to one of our 8th grade students about his plans for the holiday. This was a very challenging time of year for this young man because he had lost his mother when he was very young around this holiday. Barry went home and made him a CD of classic rock songs so this young man could channel his emotions into the music. This act of kindness allowed this young man to function in an environment with his family who were not emotionally sensitive to his needs.

Jennifer Kowalski Thank you, Everyone at SMS! For a warm welcome this year and making SMS a great place to be!

Karen McGuinness

Mr. Barry Frick is a teacher and coach dedicated to his students; these individuals become his children. Listen to the words that Mr. Frick shares with children after class, after a game, in the hallways, during lunch. Each word is filled with the love and respect he has for the individual; each word fills a child with encouragement as that child faces an obstacle. Mr. Barry Frick touches my heart with his true compassion and empathy for the children in his care. I love and respect him; he has touched me also with the same love and encouragement he gives each one of his students. Everyone who knows Barry knows that he has more than three children. Is this not the sign of a great educator? God bless you, Barry.

So much love, Susie Q

Salisbury Middle School is so very blessed with the most amazing and fantabulous cafeteria staff. I applaud them for all they do every single day of the school year. They greet the children with smiles and they know the children as well as any teacher or administrator in our building. Thanks to each one of these wonderful Salisbury employees.

Blessings, Miss Quigg

Thanks, John Landis, for your untiring efforts to meet all our computer needs, especially all my needs. I love your smile and your willingness always to help me and not to laugh at me when I have the silliest of questions. You are a gem!

Miss Quigg Salisbury Middle School is staffed with wonderful, caring, and dedicated individuals. To select one is a difficult task. We work together and balance each other. I feel so blessed every day that I come to work. I can be a bit down as I enter the building, but I won't get far down the hall without someone affecting me in a splendiferous way. My 8th grade team is so dear to my heart and I think they are all pretty special. But, if I visit the 6th grade hall or the 7th grade hall, I wish I had a chance one in a while to work with these incredible educators. Yet, I love 8th grade! And our, support staff has to be absolutely, positively, without question, the very bestest in the whole world. I love the people at SMS. I rank us #1.

Susan Quigg Janice Zellin has been an excellent addition to the staff at the middle school! She is always so organized and is a wonderful support to staff in the guidance office! She updates us on important dates and helps us make decisions pertaining to students and grades! I must also recognize you for supplying munches to staff that forget their lunch! Thank you for all you do!

C. Yurconic I appreciate Earl Heminitz because he takes pride in making sure our classrooms are neat and ready to go for the next day at the middle school. He is always pleasant and always smiling! Thank you for all your efforts and your help!

C. Yurconic

Mrs. Castagna has helped me majorly with math work throughout all the years I have been in Salisbury especially in fourth grade the most. Mr. Frick is different than all the other soccer coaches I have had. He cares deeply about players with good grades. Also, he makes sure nobody is hurt like when I had my concussion. Mrs. Prokesch is different than a teacher. She is more of a friend. I could talk to her about anything and she wouldn't even mind or be annoyed. So far she has been my closest teacher since 6th grade. Mrs. Yurconic is a very nice and funny teacher. When we do projects, she tries her best to make them fun instead of a boring old project. If you don't finish work on time, she still gives you time to finish it. Lucas I really loved having Mr. Wetherhold for gifted seminar. He was SO funny and we often had very intriguing class discussions and made fun of Matt Lasalle for being a Yankees fan. Zachary Stringer I appreciate Miss Quigg because she is so caring. If I am upset or if someone else is she will go up and comfort them and try to make them feel better about themselves. Miss Quigg is very kind, and helpful. If we are having trouble on something her door is always open to help us. She always gives us a chance to do great in her class. I love Miss Quigg a lot, and I am very thankful to have her as my teacher, and in my life.

Laura Daher Mrs. Shirk was my 4th and 5th grade teacher. When I would walk into her room she would greet me very nicely and charmingly. She would always help me out with a problem, with my friends or family or anything. All the time I would look up to her and be just like her. I feel like she helped me through a lot. Without her I would never know how to do my math facts, and my science, and Language. It was very hard for me to say good bye to her, she was an amazing teacher. Someday I would love to see her and catch up for the lost time.

Ariey Smith Mrs. Bellis is proactive in making accommodations with her team members to meet her students' needs. She bends over backwards to help her students on a daily basis, and goes out of her way to make her team members' days as efficient and productive as possible. Mrs. Yurconic has taken on a leadership role with the sixth grade team that has made a real difference in how we communicate with each other and with our students. Her focus on positive reinforcement and emphasis on sharing what's working for each teacher has made every teacher better. I would like to thank all the ladies at the administration building who do all the paperwork that keeps us going. Mary Bishop and Nancy Spadt are always so helpful and kind and very prompt in providing answers to questions. They are always so cheerful and upbeat and patient. I applaud all the others also, those behind the scenes that are so important to running our school district. Thank you, thank you.

Susan Quigg

STUDENTS.....what would any of us teachers be without these amazing people who walk into our classrooms every single day. They come with smiles and frowns, joys and problems. They come to learn and to grow and to explore their world in so many different ways. I could never count the many ways they have touched my heart and blessed my life. I am a teacher because of these young people; they have and continue to make me who I am. Thanks to every single one of you. Hugs and happy wishes and so much gratitude and love.

Miss Quigg Mrs. Yurconic comes up with interesting projects with each new unit to help extend our learning.

Peyton I appreciate Mrs. Yurconic because she tells us stories about the Groovy Greeks and we do fun projects. Like the Egyptian project.

Gretchen Helsel I appreciate my social studies Mrs. Yurconic because she is really fun and teaches us well.

Gabriella Mrs. Prokesch is a teacher I think should be honored and appreciated this week! She manages to be a great teacher and a great supporter. She taught me so many different rules of grammar and good language skills. The whole year she helped us with things like persuasion, debating, comma rules, and PSSA prep! It all helped us so much. She thought of great ways to teach us and good small tricks to help us remember them. She also had us do a lot of really fun projects to help with understanding the books we're reading. She also gave us so many opportunities! We have the options of getting our work published, talking to people from Italy, and debating! While she is one of the best teachers, she also is a great person. She can joke around in class and it's always comfortable around her. She makes a great person to confide in and get help with!

Olivia Miss Quigg cares so much about her students. During testing weeks, she bought us all candy, snacks, and prayers to keep at our desks.

Christina Marinos I love Mrs. DeOliveira's class! It’s always so fun and I look forward to going to her class every day. I love to read in her class because she helps keep the room quiet. I have a bunch of fun in her class!

Lynn I appreciate Miss Quigg because she is a great teacher, and helps me when I need help.

Laura Mrs. Castagna, you are the best math teacher ever! Same with you Mrs. Yurconic, you guys made it fun for me.

Paige Zosky

Miss Quigg is a very nice teacher. She's always there for people when they need help, and she is like a friend to every one of her students. She is the best teacher I have ever had.

Emma Mr. Sawicki is one of my most favorite and supportive teachers I ever had. He always asks me how I'm doing each morning and always does his best to help everyone. He also helps me with work I don't understand and always works tirelessly to teach others and help them become smarter, successful students.

Dan Mr. Sawicki is one of my most favorite and one of the most supportive teachers I ever had. He always asks me how I'm doing each morning and does his best to help others. He also helps me with work I don't understand and works tirelessly to teach other students and make them smarter and successful students.

Dan Snyder I love the way Mrs. Yurconic teaches, she always comes up with a fun way or project to do things.

Erica Mr. Smith is a very nice custodian he is always ready to help. I think he is the best

Makenzie McNeal I would like to appreciate Mrs. Yurconic for making teaching more fun than always just sitting in a class room.

Joelle Tayburn I think that Mrs. Yurconic was a very fun and interesting teacher! I liked the way that she taught her class, she wouldn't make us take tests/quizzes, she would let us work with projects, we get to work on big projects like making masks and drawing life sized people. I think that she was a fun teacher because she would stand up on desks and sing us catchy and fun songs that would make us remember things.

Katie Denver I think that Mrs. Castagna was a great teacher because, if we do good we get links and if we reach the floor then we would get a day of free time which was really nice of her to do! She would also give us chances, for example if we did bad on a test by a few points she would let us get them signed to get extra points, or if she sees you struggling or really trying hard on a Manga High challenge she would give us a silver or a gold because we wanted to reach or goal and try to succeed to getting a good grade! Therefore i think that Mrs. Castagna made math class fun for us!

Katie Denver Mr. Mark is a really nice cook. He let me trade my milk for a water bottle because I didn't want the milk and he gives away the extra food sometimes. He is also really funny.

Our twirling coaches, Rob, Chris, and Chrissy, have done so much for us this year and in years past. They sacrifice their time and effort to help the team be the best we can be. The team really appreciates everything the coaches have for us. Our coaches have had a huge impact on everyone on the team.

Madison Herrmann Mr. Frick is a very nice, loving, and kind person who has been around in my life for many years. He has been my soccer coach for 2 years now but I have known him for about 6 years. He has taught me so much and he has to be my favorite coach out of all my sports. He is my role model because he is always happy and we have a special connection when it comes to me and him. The reason we are hopefully going undefeated this year is because we have him as a coach.

Daniel Bonge A teacher that left a big impression on my life is Mrs. Mann. Mrs. Mann kept the library going even when it was supposed to be closed. She helped influence people's lives with books and reading and she would always help you no matter what. Whenever I go to the library, I am always greeted with a big smile from Mrs. Mann and look forward to seeing her so my mood can change to get better. She likes to help people and she has such a great big heart. Thank you, Mrs. Mann, for all your work and for helping me when I really needed it.

Rania Nimeh Mrs. Mann has been a terrific person keeping the library open all day, helping us students get the books we need, maintaining the library during last minute on our reading counts. She is just an amazing woman.

Damein Casanova Miss Quigg was an amazing teacher that I was blessed to have. She made learning English an enjoyable experience for me. Miss Quigg would not only teach the class, but would take the time to work with us and help put English in terms we would understand. It pains me to think that I will only have her for one year. I also am sorry to all the kids in grades below that will not be as lucky as to have her. Miss Quigg, I would like to thank you for an amazing year!

Celine Lembach I appreciate Mrs. Jaindl because she is an excellent librarian. She keeps going no matter what and never gives up on anything. When someone needs something, she is always glad to drop whatever she is doing and help with the problem. She loves books and working in the library and I am so glad to have a librarian like her that I can always talk to. Thank you Mrs. Jaindl for your time and effort to make the library the best it can be.

Rania Nimeh Student Mrs. Mann is an amazing librarian. She kept the library opened late so all kids would have the chance to go to the library. I will always remember and cherish all the lunches us library aides would spend helping you. Of course we always joked around and would share some memories. Thank you Mrs. Mann for all you have done for our Salisbury Middle School.

I highly appreciate Miss Quigg. She is beyond kind and inspirational. She has helped and encouraged me throughout the school year. She will be greatly missed for her enthusiastic attitude filling everyone with joy. She has influenced many of students throughout the joyous years of teaching at Salisbury Middle School, including my mother and uncle, which love and cherish her. I believe we take advantage of the simple moments we should cherish most, but Miss Quigg has taught many to understand, and forgive. This year has been packed with laughter and work thanks to Miss Quigg, It is a year to remember. She has been there for many students, including myself, in times of laughter, joy, and in times of need. If there is any person you could depend on Miss Quigg will always be there. Whatever the situations will be, you can count on Miss Quigg to cope you through. We will all greatly miss you Miss Quigg !

Marissa Galloway Thank You Miss Quigg, Mr. Sawicki, Mr. Posch, Mr. Hilaire, and Señora Alden for making my 8th grade year great! The school year went so fast, too bad it has to end.

Mckenzie Wirth Mrs. Dunbar is a very well-mannered, thoughtful, teacher. She always has a smile on her face and a great attitude. I always appreciate our short conversations and how joyous she acts along with her sister, Miss Quigg, who both are on the top of the game. Being thoughtful and understanding to many students. They are able to spread smiles throughout the room. Mrs. Dunbar is an amazing role-model to many.

Marissa Galloway Mrs. Schey is a wonderful caring teacher. She was my kindergarten teacher. When I went to kindergarten, I was terrified. But Mrs. Schey helped me get through the beginning of what would be my long journey. She was so sweet and caring and loved all the students in her class. Her smiling face is always a joy to see. Thank you Mrs. Schey for all the wonderful things you taught me and did for me when I was only 5 years old.

Rania Nimeh The entire staff of Salisbury Township School District are the best teachers in the district. The reason why I say this is because I do not feel we should practice favoritism and while I may express my opinions privately to the teachers themselves, it would not help me in the long run to state anything publicly. If I do end up stating an opinion on a teacher in this form, I will state it under a fake name.

Alex Diamond Mrs. Bruns is not only a dedicated, hardworking teacher, but she is also a loving and caring mother. She never stops working. She goes to school every day to educate the students at Salisbury High School and Salisbury Elementary School and then comes home to give her two daughters love and support no matter if it's a bad or good day for her. She knows how to brighten anyone's day by making a joke or just being her goofy self. Mrs. Bruns is an amazing role model to anyone. She is strong-willed and has faith in anything anyone does. She is always there beside you if you ever need someone. Mrs. Bruns is truly appreciated by all the students but is mostly appreciated by me, her daughter.

Haley Szita I really appreciate Mrs. Gerhart for everything she handles. She is involved in helping with SMS Live, teaching and even being a parent. Mrs. Gerhart, the middle school's family and consumer science teacher, has made such a big impact on my life. She is sweet, kind and caring towards all her students. She is loved by all of her students. She taught my classmates and me very well and enjoys what she does. Not only is she an amazing teacher, but she is also someone to look up to. She is able to manage being a teacher and a mother which is not as easy as it seems. Although she is busy with teaching and all her other activities, she was always there for me. If I was feeling down she always found a way to pick me up. She has a pure heart and an amazing personality. Nobody could compare to her. After having her as a teacher for three years, she has come to be like an in school mother to me. She cares for me the way a mother would. I love Mrs. Gerhart. She always has a way to cheer me up every day. Just thinking about not having her in my school next year makes me miss her. I will miss her every day in high school. Although this is my last year to be in the same school as her, she will always be with me in my memories and heart.

Brianna Belzner I want to thank Mr. Hensinger for everything he has done for me. He is always positive and in a great mood; he never lets his athletes see a negative side. With everything he deals with he will always be there as a coach for any athlete. For the 3 years I've had him as a cross country coach, I could not ask for anyone better. He is an excellent coach, training and guiding his team. Mr. Hensinger devotes time to each one of us and helps us in any situation. The one thing I hate the most is when the season is over and I don't get to see him every day of the week. This very special coach inspires me to be the very best I can be. Thanks for everything Coach.

I love her very much and I will miss her greatly when I go to the high school!

Thank you, Mrs. VanEmburgh for being such a wonderful teacher.

Andrew Fletcher Mrs. Gerhart has helped me through all of my years of middle school and I am so thankful that I had her as my FACS teacher. She taught me so much about life and skills you need to know, but she was also there for me whenever I needed her. Anytime I needed someone to talk to or help me get through something she was there for me. I appreciate everything she has done for me and middle school would have been so much different without her. She helped me get through it all. Thank you for everything.

Sierra Mamay My seventh grade Social Studies teacher, Mr. Tobias, made my experience so fun. He is so hard-working and does a great job running Interact Club.

Andrew Fletcher Mrs. Lombo from the Cafeteria Staff is very nice and helpful. She always helps me with serving food and that job is tough, she always has a smile on her face even when she has the dirtiest, grossest job. She does this job out of the kindness of her heart! She also is a Soccer coach for elementary school girls, my sister is one of her soccer players, she always helps them too.

Logan Klucar Mr. Posch is a mathematic genius. He helps me when i am confused on certain papers. Sometimes the papers are hard and sometimes they are very easy.

I appreciate most of the staff members in Salisbury Township School District, but I mostly appreciate the help that the coaches, lunch ladies, and library staff members give us when we either need help or just are having trouble with anything in or outside our schools.

Collin Fairchild I appreciate Mrs. Prokesch because she went to extra lengths to make sure we had fun learning in her class and using language arts techniques in fun activities. We did pen pals and all sorts of activities to help us learn. Mrs. Prokesch is such an amazing teacher and she always brightened my day.

Taylor Vasilik I appreciate so, so many people that I cannot narrow it down to one person, or many people at that. I rarely have had a teacher that has not helped me or influenced me at all; and even the ones who haven't helped me, they still influenced me, even if the influence wasn't positive. All of my teachers have influenced me, and almost all have helped me.

Reilly Yankovich I was very grateful to have been taught by Mrs. Helfrich in 5th grade. Not only was she a great teacher, but she supported everybody, no matter what. She was there for me through everything. Mrs. Helfrich prepared me for the middle school, and I'm very thankful for that. She will always have a lasting positive impression on me, and I will never forget how inspiring she really is. I'm very jealous of the students who will still have the opportunity to be one of her students. She was an amazing teacher, and a truly amazing person.

Emily Shiffert I appreciate Mr. Tobias because he always brightened my day with his loud and bubbly personality. In 7th grade he always made me laugh and smile. He was one of my best teachers and I learned so much in his class. I wish I could have him again.

Taylor Vasilik Mrs. DeOliveira was a great teacher this year, she helped John K. Eric P. and I get to 2nd place in the CLIU #21 Computer Fair, she helped us get through all of our problems. Her classroom is right next to my locker. She always talks to me and my friends whenever we have something exciting to say.

Logan Klucar I was so lucky to have the opportunity to have Mrs. Moyer in first AND second grade! Mrs. Moyer was one of my nicest, most loving teachers I have ever had. I want to thank her for everything she had done for me, from teaching me math to taking care of me when I cried for having to leave my mom to come to school. I remember thinking about how I wanted to be just like her, and how I looked up to her for everything. I just want to thank you Mrs. Moyer for everything you have done for me! I hope I get to see you soon!

Miss Quigg is a very unique teacher and among the greatest I have had. She teaches firmly but lovingly and always throws in a few interesting work-free days on the side. I am sad to see her go and wish her a happy retirement.

Jacob Glenister I would like to thank Mrs. Prokesch for always helping me out. Mrs. Prokesch was my last year Language Arts teacher and she has been there for me when I needed someone the most. She was always there to talk if I needed her for anything. She was always happy and cheerful, and she brightened my day. Mrs. Prokesch is a wonderful teacher and even though my grade was the worst in her class of all of my grades, it was still my favorite class to attend. She never doubted me, and she kept me going. She would make jokes just to crack a smile out of me. It will be terrifying that I won't be in the middle school to see her next year. Thanks to her, I want to be a writer. She has inspired me to try making stories and using the most eye popping sentences I can, so Mrs. Prokesch, I thank you.

Desiree Tarantino Mr. Beyer was a really fun and interesting teacher. I mean, WHAT OTHER TEACHER HAVE YOU MET THAT HAS A WII IN HIS ROOM!!! We even had a stuffed peregrine falcon that you had to take to the bathroom and such instead of the new assignment books. We named our falcon Shanaynay.

Zachary Stringer I appreciate Mrs. Lembach, because I hated going to day care after school. I would be so mad and always just complain for days about how much I hated it there, but Mrs. Lembach she would make the day care fun. She always found a way to cheer me up, no matter how mad and sad I was, she always found a way to make the experience fun and now that I look back, I see I did have fun in day care. So basically she made my Elementary years a blast.

Anthony Strong

My second grade teacher, Mrs. Viscuso, created such a loving, caring, warm atmosphere for all of her students. She was the reason I enjoyed coming to school every day. It was so hard leaving her when it was time to go to third grade. Even though I am going to high school next year, I will always remember her, and the many valuable lessons she taught me both inside and outside of the classroom.

Christina Marinos Mrs. Jaindl is a very great librarian and it is a blessing to have her to help in the library. She was an immense help to me because I would always go to the library to get books because I actively participate in reading counts and she helped me find many books. We often had great discussions about books and she would often recommend books for me.

Zachary Stringer Mr. Frick is a very great soccer coach. He always is in a cheerful mood and he makes us all smile. He taught me new things I never knew about the sport I play. I would like to thank Ms. Quigg. Ms. Quigg is a wonderful, caring teacher. She makes her students laugh, and she gets them to smile. When I first started her class, she used to always call me the small short one, or have a comment on how tiny I was. That always made me smile even if I was having a horrible day. When I needed help, she would help me. She never gave up on me, which is something I will never forget. She has taught me that no matter how mature you are, you can always find a place to fit in a laugh. Ms. Quigg would always correct us every time we called her "Mrs. Quigg." It was very funny, but most of all, she gave me the inspiration to stand up for myself and others, because Ms. Quigg won't do bullying. She taught me to stick up for what I believe it, even if I was the only one who believed in that topic. Thank you Ms. Quigg.

Desiree Tarantino Mr. Somishka was such a great kindergarten teacher. He was so patient and kind and he always made me laugh. He made my first year of school such a wonderful experience.

Christina Marinos I would like to thank Mr. Recke for coming to school each day to help us even though he has better things to do. Mr. Recke taught me about making cars and using machines, but mostly, Mr. Recke taught me that you can get through anything. Even when he can be home helping Adam, he comes in to teach us. He is thoughtful enough to come in and stick up with all of us when he is going through a rough time. Thank you so much Mr. Recke.

Desiree Tarantino I want to thank Mr. Sawicki. Thank you for being my favorite 8th grade teacher. Your words are thorough, and your thoughts are creative. You let us work in groups to understand our tasks more. Also, you are the one allowing us to go to Hershey. You make my day so much better. You always imitate Mr. Hilaire, and that cracks the whole class up. Thank you for helping me bring my grades up.

Desiree Tarantino Mrs.Castagna was the kindest and most helpful teacher that I have ever had. Whenever I had a problem with my math, she would strive to help me overcome it. Whenever we did extra work, she would award us with kind words and candy. Never will I meet another teacher like her.

Cassidy Ayers Mr. Posch is a wonderful teacher because he is always so kind to his students. Every Monday, we talk about what we did over the weekend and what we will be doing throughout the week. He tells us about his weekends too. When we talk to him, it's like he's a kid. He always jokes around with us and gives us fun assignments to do. He knows how to help his students with any problems. Mr. Posch is a great teacher.

Mason Groff I appreciate the lunch ladies who put up with all the obnoxious students who go to the cafeteria. They all are very generous and they work so hard to make sure each child gets a healthy lunch.

Michelle

Mr. Posch is a great math teacher because he always asks us on Mondays how our weekends were and what we did. Mr. Posch always has jokes to tell us and always helps us when we have trouble with our work.

Gabe Frau McGuinness is a great teacher because she helps us when we don't understand a subject; she will always work with the students and puts up with the easily distracted classes, and always manages to stay on schedule.

Joey Robert I want to compliment Mrs. Fortunato because she helped me with my writing, she put me into speech class when I needed help in third grade, and she supported me and all of my crazy ideas in class.

John Kochenberger I really enjoy learning with Mrs. Prokesch because she helped me with my writing and how to expand in details. She also helped me with a write up for my eagle scout by revising my paper and giving me some extra ideas. She made her class a lot of fun with us using technology in many different ways, we used iMovie to make how to videos and we also used iMovie to make movie trailers. She also put the show "The Twilight Zone" into our writing.

John Kochenberger My bus driver Phil is a really nice man. Every day when students come onto the bus, he greets them with a smile and a, "Good morning." What's really great about Phil is how he knows everyone's name. He also rarely yells at us. I truly respect Phil.

Mason Groff Ms. Quigg is a wonderful teacher because she is always thinking of ways for the students to be more active in the school, and giving chances to us we never had before, such as taking down the flag at the end of the day to letting the entire 8th grade out because she said we were behaving well, and deserved it, Ms. Quigg has helped us with everything that we would need help with in English and giving us time and help with harder assignments from other classes.

Joey Robert

I appreciate Miss Quigg. Starting this year I hardly knew her. She has always been remarkably supportive this year for me. I struggled learning how to write in a proper 5 paragraph thesis essay format. Even though I struggled, my teacher, Miss Quigg helped my get through the rough parts. Sadly, at the end of this year, the amazing person that has helped my get pass these rough patches will leave. I am sure that I am speaking for many when I say that we will miss Miss Quigg.

Mahlon Reihman I am proud of Mr. Beyer because he taught us many things dealing with science. He used one of the games on the Wii to help us learn about the ocean. He was supportive to all of the classes ideas. He also kept class interesting through his teaching style.

Mr. Frick is a superb coach. He has a love for the game of soccer just like his team does. He understands the challenges of soccer, and pushes us to our limits so we can be the best players. He teaches us that if you work hard, good things will happen. His Salisbury spirit is the best I've ever seen. He truly loves this school. Mr. Frick is a great man, teacher, and coach.

Mason Groff Miss Quigg is one of the most amazing and compassionate teachers I have ever had. She has worked tirelessly for so many years to help students become smarter in grammar and writing skills. She also helps me with work I'm confused about and she helps all of us become the best English students we can. Miss Quigg is truly of the greatest and admiring teachers I've had.

Dan Snyder Miss Quigg, is one of the most inspirational people i have met in my years here at Salisbury. She has always been there for me and she is there to help anyone that is in need. I was out for a concussion and she was kind enough to write me a get well letter. She has made me feel blessed. I wish that she wasn't retiring this year so others could endure a wonderful 8th grade year with this wonderful woman. Miss Quigg thinks about every single one of her students and does something as simple as giving a card to let us know that she cares. For all my hard work she had gotten me a gift. This woman is truly amazing. The English language wouldn't be the same without her teaching it. I love you Miss Quigg.

Victoria Laird Mr. Hilaire is a great teacher. He gives us time in class to work independently, trusting us to work our best and complete work. He always keep the class laughing with all of the funny jokes, and is telling us about stories and how they relate to the class and what we are learning, he always manages to keep us interested in the class and having unique activities. Mr. Hilaire is a great teacher to have for science.

Joey Robert Thank you, Mr. Frick for believing in me even when I didn't. I started soccer this year and I was very nervous considering most people start soccer when they are 5. Most of the other players are way more experienced than me and I was just trying my best to keep up. Mr. Frick told me to tell him if any of the other players were making fun of me and that he believed I would do great. Thanks to his encouragement, I truly believe that I can be a good player. I may not become the star of the team, but I won't be a terrible player either. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

Michelle Miss Quigg is always there for EVERYONE. 8th grade grammar is not the easiest walk in the park and Language Arts has not always been my favorite subject but Miss Quigg made it memorable and meaningful this year. I am so glad that our grade got to receive her teachings before her retirement. I honestly do not know what the 8th graders are going to do next year on those dreaded writing PSSA's without Miss Quigg pushing them to write and write and write until there's no tomorrow. She is always so kind and thoughtful and jokes around with us in class every now and then to add that fun level you don't get in every classroom. Every day I can't wait until 8th period comes when I have Miss Quigg's Language Arts class to end the day on a good note. I will surely miss Miss Quigg always being there and helping me learn proper grammar and all of that other good stuff. And the greatest thing about Miss Quigg is that you ALWAYS know she will go out of her way to help you find a way to succeed.

Miss Quigg is an intelligent, sophisticated teacher that always helps her students. She is tough sometimes though too. I think that pushes us to work harder and learn more. Her character really rubs off on her students. She never has anything negative to say about anyone (unless they REALLY get on her nerves). This characteristic makes her a wonderful teacher. I am glad to have Miss Quigg as my teacher the last year she is here.

Mason Groff Miss Quigg is the best English teacher ever! She always helps her students with their work and always asks how our weekends were. She always says positive things about her students. I really learned a lot from Miss Quigg throughout the year. I am glad to have Miss Quigg the last year she is teaching here!

Gabe Dear Mr.Griffis, You Have Been My Band Teacher Since Fourth Grade. I Was In You First ""Batch"" Of Fourth Graders. We Have Become Really Close Over The Years. I Am Really Going To Miss You When I Go To High School. I Am Almost Always In Your Room When You Are Here. I Stop By And See You Every Morning. When One Of Our Officers Quit Band You Chose Me To Fill That Position When There Are Many Other Students Able To Fill It. You Always Know The Right Thing To Say To People no Matter What Mood You Are In. I Eat Lunch With You Every Thursday And Friday. You Always Come To Me When You Need Help With The Music Library. I Am Very Happy You Allow Me To Help The Younger Kids Even Tough I Do Not Know How To Play That Instrument. You Are A Huge Role Moodle To Me. I Really Want You To Come To The High School. I Am Really Going To Miss You When I Go To The High School, And I Hope That When I Am Gone That You Find A Good Kid To Fill My Spot. I Hope That The Kids Are Really Good To You Next Year.

Kacy Roblyer I am proud of Miss Quigg because she had us write in a PWD (practice writing book) which helped us get our thoughts and ideas onto paper. We memorized and recited poems like the "Village Blacksmith" and this helped us learn about poems and older literature that is important to remember. We are learning about sentence patterns and that there are only 5 in our English language. Thank you Miss Quigg for an awesome school year!

John Kochenberger Mrs. Helfrich my 5th grade teacher. I just really loved her and I still do. One of the memories of the Elementary school that I will never forget is when I fell of my chair in the middle of her class. I remember that my seat was in the last row and all was alone.. All of us were doing our work and I was leaning back on my chair and my other hand was on the table but then all of a sudden I accidentally let go of the table and I fell back my chair fell on top of me.... when I i got up I could hold the tears in...I just started to cry because everyone was looking at me and I am a really shy person so I was really embarrassed. I was still crying when I hear someone in the background pick up my chair and then out of nowhere I feel a nice warm hug around me that made my heart melt and put a smile on my face. And like all teacher she comforted me and made me feel so much better...and that is why I want to thank for being there for everything she did for me!!! <3 <3

Dear Mrs. Shirk, You were my fourth and fifth grade teacher. In fourth grade when you had Carter I was very happy for you, but I was also sad that you had to leave. In fifth grade I had you all day, and I really enjoyed that. When Tyler had his break downs you understood that I needed to go and help calm him down. You inspired me in so many ways, and I would never be the person I am today if I would not have had you as a teacher. You are one of the people that helped mold me into the young lady I am today. I miss not seeing you every day and I wish I could see you soon.

Love, Kacy Roblyer Mrs. Mosley is great at her job because she's very smart and knows all of the different instruments!

Cynthia Banach Miss Quigg is one of the teachers at Salisbury Middle School; that has helped me throughout the school year. Sometimes when I'm having a bad day and go to English class Miss Quigg cheers me up right away! Miss Quigg has such bubbly personality, with her singing and her dancing. Miss Quigg is someone that doesn't care about what people think of her; the only thing she cares about is how you think of yourself. Everyone knows that Miss Quigg doesn't believe in giving up or quitting! She is someone who will help anyone in need. It's sad to see that Miss Quigg is leaving her job at Salisbury Middle school. Miss Quigg just doesn't live in Salisbury; she is part of Salisbury.

Paige Watto I appreciate my 7th grade Language Arts teacher Mrs. VanEmburgh. She helped me through the entire school year. Every morning we talked and brightened each other's day. She taught me everything I needed to know and helped me when I was stuck, no matter what. Every Friday she gave out candy. Ducks are her passion, every time a rubber duck is at a store, or a duck is at the park, I think of Mrs. VanEmburgh. She loves funny videos and books. 20 years from now when I'm working and have a life of my own, I will still remember her. She will always be part of my life, through and through.

David W. Eckhart I am so delighted to have Mr. Posch as my math teacher. Mr. Posch is a phenomenal teacher. He always puts us first. Mr. Posch always has new fun ways to learn topics! He always asks you if something’s wrong or how your day is going. He has been able to help me understand topics that I wasn't able to grasp very quickly and made my school year memorable! I will miss Mr. Posch once the end of the school year is over and I will have to say goodbye to all of the teachers that made my experience at the middle school unforgettable!

Julie Schankowitz Mrs. Mugavero taught me so much in 7th grade math. If I ever needed help with anything she was always willing to meet before or after class to make sure I understood the lesson. I couldn't have asked for a better first year of algebra.

Christina Marinos Dear Miss Quigg, You are an amazing teacher. You are so kind and caring to everyone you meet. You sent everyone Christmas cards and you sent me one when I went to Wildwood for twirling. You always know the right thing to say to people when they are down. I can tell you anything and you listen to every word I say. You are such an inspirational person and I love having you as my teacher.

Love, Kacy

Mr. Frick has a special place in many people's hearts. I have not had the privilege to have him as a teacher, but he has taken the role as one of the greatest soccer coaches I have ever had. Mr. Frick does not only teach me about soccer, but has taught me, and every other person he has met, lessons that will last a life time. Mr. Frick gives me courage and has taught me to never give up. Last Thursday I was having a very hard time in a soccer game, and when I came out, I was upset and just wanted to stop playing. But before I could give up on myself, he was there to give me confidence. He showed me that he wasn't going to give up on me, so neither could I. Mr. Frick gives too many through his words and actions. He reminds me that things will always be okay. He has taught me to always finish strong, to work hard at whatever I do, to always put education first and to have good sportsmanship. That when my body tells me that I can’t  do  something,  ignore  it  and  keep  going.  These  lessons  I  have  learned  from  Mr. Frick are irreplaceable, and will be cherished forever. Mr. Frick affects everyone in the best way possible.  For  me,  and  I’m  sure  many  other  people  too,  he  is  more  than  just  a soccer coach. Mr. Frick is a role model; and I hope that when I am older, other people will think of me like I think of Mr. Frick.

Marsol Rosario Mrs. Yurconic is a very exciting teacher. She is always emphasizing everything and making Social Studies fun. She deserves this lots because she puts so much effort into our projects and having this be an AMAZING social studies learning process. I want this to be one way to show my gratitude! THANK YOU, Mrs. Yurconic!

Hannah Lipkin Mrs. Yurconic is a very nice teacher. She always asks me about what I did over the weekend. She is very funny. She teaches Social Studies in a way I never thought a teacher would teach a subject. We always do fun things in her class. My favorite thing we did is the Ancient Egyptian funeral where we had food, drinks, a funeral procession, activities, and a lot more. She helps me learn about Social Studies in a fun way. I really appreciate her help.

WESTERN SALISBURY ELEMENTARY

I feel truly blessed that my daughter had a teacher like Mrs. Nester for her first full-time year at WSE. Mrs. Nester is professional, compassionate, kind, gentle, understanding, uses great communication & I loved it when she took the time to come to see her students play softball. Teaching is not "just" a job to her, it is her love and her passion and it definitely shows because her students "adore" her!

Terri Macauley I would like to say what a complete pleasure it always is speaking with and working with Mrs. McKinley in the front office at WSE. She is always happy, smiling, and friendly and genuinely understands how to deal with multiple situations at one time. What a joy it is to have a pleasant personality working in an atmosphere with so many young children.

Terri Macauley Mrs. Grace Hartman went beyond her role as Principal and placed her caring nature first in questioning the need for my son to endure scholastic testing after being absent for surgery for skin cancer. It was his best gift after his surgery!

Mr. Somishka has been part of our family since we started at WSE. He is AWESOME!! We all love him as a teacher and the person he is and how we will always remember Mr. S. as Max and Brandon call him! We could NOT ask for a better person to teach our children and they will grow and take what he taught our boys all through their lives. Mr. Somishka you are truly an amazing person and we can't Thank You enough!!

We could not have had a better transition into a new school as we did this year! Mrs. Moyer is absolutely amazing! By the end of week one, it was clear that she wanted to get to know our daughter and to make her feel comfortable in her new environment. The staff is always friendly and also makes it evident that each child is important. Mrs. Hartman is an active presence at all of the school functions and cares so much about the kids! we have enjoyed the family nights and look forward to continuing to blend into such a wonderful community!

Gina Fitzsimmons Two years ago I found myself shopping for a house...and a school district. With so many local districts to choose from, it was a hard decision. I am so glad I chose Salisbury. My daughter is thriving here. I appreciate the staff for making it a great school district, and I appreciate district leadership for focusing on the whole child, and not just a test score. Everyone at WSE has been so welcoming, helpful, and caring. I know I made the right choice!

Amy Talaber Mr. Adams went above and beyond to make sure my son had planned studies to keep him on schedule during his brief time home recovery from surgery. He took time out of his planned curriculum to have his students make cards for my son. These mean the world to my son. Upon return to school, Mr. Adams already had a system set up to assist him in the everyday activities. Mr. Adams and his kindness have truly helped with my son's recovery.

Mrs. Irene Killiri I really appreciate when my son comes home from his 4th grade class with Mrs. DeBona and tells me about the "giant conversations" they have about important topics like drugs and alcohol.

Rebecca Glenister Thank you, Mr. Somishka, for making kindergarten such a fun place to learn and grow for our son! We appreciate your ongoing care, concern, and communication! Couldn't ask for a better start to our son's elementary years!

Sincerely, Lisa and Sean McGinty

ADMINISTRATION BUILDING The Business Office staff provides many critical functions for the district. This is the area where all the money flows in and out of the district. One critical function they do is payroll. Every two weeks staff in the staff makes sure that every employee is paid. This is a critical function that must be performed correctly,  which  they  do.    It  is  also  extremely  important  that  all  of  the  district’s  vendors  get  paid  on  time.    This is vital to make sure the district receives all the necessary supplies that are needed. Every day the business office staff handles public funds that have many restrictions and controls on how the funds are accounted  for  and  spent.    The  district’s  clean  audits  indicate  the  staff  is  very good at staying in compliance. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the district. Bob Bruchak The maintenance and buildings grounds department take care of many functions at the district. They make sure the district grounds and buildings are clean and have a nice appearance. They make sure the buildings are heated in the winter and cooled during hot weather. What you may not realize is how they may be called on in an emergency to rectify the situation. They worked hard to get our building up and running after Hurricane Sandy devastated the area. The district also relies on them for snow removal and other weather related problems. The staff is constantly working behind the scenes to make sure our buildings provide a good, clean, and safe learning environment. Thank you for all your hard work and effort. Bob Bruchak

The food service department does an incredible job making sure the students are fed every day. It is not enough just to cook; there are many regulations that must be adhered to. Federal regulations recently changed known as the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act. The staff has done a great job learning and implementing  these  regulations  to  make  sure  the  district’s  lunches  that  are  served  are  in  compliance.    The staff also must follow Safe Food guidelines to make sure food is stored, cooked, handled, and served in a clean and safe manner. The district appreciates all you hard work and dedication you put into preparing lunches and feeding the students every day. Bob Bruchak Being a school leader these days is no easy task. You have to have a vision that balances what seem like endless state initiatives with what our children will need to be successful innovators into college and career. The instructional administrators in our district are doing this and more, working with our teachers to build an outstanding educational system that will serve our students, parents and community for years to come. I appreciate all of the work these administrators have done, are doing and will continue to do for Salisbury! A big thank-you goes out to Paragon's Terminal Manager, Nancy Kern, and all of the bus drivers. Together they safely transport our students approximately 442,104 miles a year to/from 51 schools on 41 vehicles. Mileage for school and sport trips are in addition to the daily bus run mileage. To initially obtain a school bus endorsement, the driver must complete classroom instruction, in-bus training, along with Penn Dot knowledge and driving tests. Every four (4) years they are required to repeat training to be re-certified by the state. Verna Schuon The classrooms in the Salisbury Township School District have undergone significant changes in teaching and learning over the past several years as a result of the dedication and hard work of our teachers and principals. Supporting the change is our TLC group - computer technicians, library media teachers and instructional coach. Thank you to Matt Ritter and Christina Westfall (computer technicians); Barb Jaindl, Jane Brennan and Robin Burns (library media teachers); and Jen Brinson (instructional coach) for the support you provide teachers in all of our schools. You consistently encourage teachers to work outside of their comfort zone and take risks. You are always there to support them as they make the shift, ensuring success. Thank you! Also, thank you to Lynn Fuini-Hetten (supervisor of instructional practice) and Chris Smith (coordinator of technology) for meeting with the TLC group regularly and guiding the conversation. I appreciate your leadership!

One of t

he benefits of being the Superintendent of the Salisbury Township School

District is expressing gratitude for the 257 staff members who support the

oouuttssttaannddiinngg ssttuuddeennttss who call Salisbury their educational home. Although I

have only been a part of the Salisbury family for six months, I have quickly come

to appreciate the level of pride, dedication and support those who work for the

district demonstrate on a daily basis. Many of our staff call Salisbury home, have

children who either attended or are attending school in Salisbury, or graduated

from Salisbury themselves. As I meet staff members who call Salisbury home, I

feel their pride and sense their joy in doing their part to help students along

their learning journey.

Last week Salisbury hosted the Lehigh Valley Leadership Symposium. Over 60

educational leaders from districts across eastern Pennsylvania attended the

Symposium to learn more about how Salisbury is transforming education

through its TL2014 initiative. Participants listened to our story and had the

opportunity to visit classrooms and speak with teachers, parents and students.

The feedback we received has been overwhelmingly positive and complimentary

of the amazing work teachers are demonstrating in their classrooms. This is a

result of the phenomenal job accomplished by all members of the Salisbury

staff in creating a positive atmosphere and culture of learning for students.

Organizations are defined by those who work within them. In the case of

Salisbury, the dynamic and dedicated teachers, administrators, secretaries,

instructional assistants, support staff, specialists, advisers, coaches, custodians,

maintenance, cafeteria workers and bus drivers continue to define Salisbury as

an exceptional place to learn and work. Please join me in giving a big THANK

YOU to all staff members as we highlight their efforts and the successes of our

Teacher Appreciation Day!

by Randy Ziegenfuss on May 7, 2013

We love our teachers! They are the heart and soul of the district. While all

district employees play an important role in the success of our students, nobody

plays a greater role than our professional staff. The quality of the work our

teachers do day in and day out can be witnessed first-hand by visiting classrooms

and engaging with students and teachers. Since today is Teacher Appreciation

Day, our principals are sharing some words about the Salisbury teaching staff.

Western Salisbury Elementary School – Mrs. Grace Hartman, Principal

I am very appreciative of the wonderful staff at WSE. They are caring,

professional and knowledgeable. I would be confident and proud to have my

child educated and cared for at WSE. WSE staff is also very supportive of each

other. They help each other in challenging times and celebrate with each other

in good times. They truly are a school family.

Harry S Truman Elementary School – Mrs. Barbara Samide, Principal

HST teachers and staff are an amazing group! They work tirelessly to support

each child at Truman. They explore all avenues to ensure that the children in

Page 42: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

their care are able to succeed. Truman staff understands the importance and

strength of a team. I have witnessed many formal and informal team meetings

that have resulted in great ideas and plans. Leadership is also seen in our staff.

Individuals willingly step up with their strengths to provide leadership for others

to succeed in a new avenue. This compassionate team also supports each other

during times of personal need. I am truly humbled each and every day watching

this team in action. Dear HST staff, my unending thanks for all that you do for

our students, their families, and each other.

Salisbury Middle School – Mr. Robert Cassidy, Principal and Mr. Ken

Parliman, Assistant Principal

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every member of

Salisbury Middle School for their ongoing pursuit toward excellence. Whether

staff are learning new strategies to engage students, working together to solve

common problems, or providing support to students, families, and each other,

our staff has a level of commitment, caring, and dedication that makes a huge

difference for everyone. It’s easy to list attributes about a school that everyone

expects to hear such as “caring, “student-centered,” and “well rounded.”. The

difficult part is living up to these attributes. Staff members at Salisbury Middle

School live up to each and every one of these attributes every day. The staff

always places student needs at the top of every priority list. They’re dedicated to

making sure every student that walks through the door is cared for and known.

The level of collegiality is unsurpassable. We are proud and thankful to work

with such a dedicated staff at SMS. Thank you for all that you’ve done and

continue to do for the Salisbury community!

Salisbury High School – Ms. Heather Morningstar, Principal and Mr.

William Dovico, Principal

reaching out to students in need, the SHS faculty and staff regularly goes “above

and beyond” teaching to help ensure the academic, social, and emotional

well-being of all SHS students. The cornerstone of Salisbury High School’s

programming is education with a personal touch, and this belief is manifested

both in our teachers’ daily interactions with students and in their efforts to make

each educational experience meaningful for every student. Determined to

provide SHS students with the knowledge, tools, and resources that prepare

them for whatever the future may hold, the teaching staff at SHS imbues lessons

with 21st-century skills and experiential learning opportunities. Thank you,

teachers, for all that you do for our students and for the greater SHS community!

National School Nurse Day – May 8

by Randy Ziegenfuss on May 8, 2013

Today, May 8, is National School Nurse Day! Thank a school nurse today for the care

they demonstrate for each of Salisbury’s students. This post was submitted by our

certified school nurses (CSN): Mrs. Loretta Becker, Mrs. Christine Tripp, and Mrs.

Carla Tallarida. Want to share your appreciation for a school nurse? Leave a

comment on this post, click on the names linked above, go directly to our Facebook

page, or send a Tweet using the hashtag ##ssttssddccoonnnneecctt.

Did you know?

The Salisbury Township School District Certified School Nurses (CSNs) and

Nurse Assistants are responsible for the health and well-being of the District’s

approximately 3,000 students. This number includes students who attend

independent/parochial schools. School code requires the District to provide

school nurse services to all schools located within the District’s borders.

During the 2011-12 school year, the school nurses saw 16,175 students for illness

and 8,553 students for injuries. This totals 24,728 visits! Additionally, 6,411

doses of medications were administered and 1,327 students were sent home

during the school day due to illness.

Page 45: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

In addition to addressing the physical needs of students through first aid and

medication administration, the school nurses treat student emotional needs,

manage student health records and immunizations, coordinate physical and

dental exams, organize health care for school field trips, provide opportunities

for staff wellness, attend in-district and regional meetings (including the Greater

Lehigh Valley School Nurse Association) and offer health education.

Salisbury Township School District employs one CSN assigned to Salisbury

Middle School and Salisbury High School and another assigned to Harry S

Truman Elementary, Swain School and Lehigh Christian Academy. A part time

CSN is assigned to Western Salisbury Elementary School and St. Thomas More

school. Four part time School Nurse Assistants staff the school health rooms

when the CSNs are assigned to one of the independent/parochial schools.

Certified School Nurses and Nurse Assistants are required to have completed a

high level of education. All nurses and nurse assistants are Registered Nurses

(RN). Each CSN is also a RN with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and certification

in School Nursing from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The CSNs are responsible for state mandated health services and screenings for

all students in the public and independent/parochial schools. These services

include creating health care plans for over 400 students with chronic health

conditions and administering annual health screenings for vision, growth,

hearing and scoliosis.

The mission of the school nurses is to maintain the health, safety and welfare of

all Salisbury Township School District students and staff. We are grateful for the

opportunity to serve the District’s students and families!

School nurses make a difference in the well-being of every child!

Staff Appreciation Day!

by Randy Ziegenfuss on May 8, 2013

Salisbury Township School District

would not serve its students as well as it does without the support staff and

professionals who provide support services to students and teachers. Think

about it – where would we be without dedicated secretaries, instructional

assistants, bus drivers, maintenance staff, coaches, food service and professional

support employees including school nurses, psychologists, guidance counselors

and business office staff? Today we recognize these dedicated employees and

thank them for their invaluable contributions to our school district and our

students.

Administrative Assistants and Secretaries

The administrative assistants and secretaries are the glue that holds the district

and school buildings together. Our administrative assistants and secretaries

support the professional staff with typical clerical tasks as well as greet visitors,

register new students, answer telephones, assist students and parents and

single-handedly solve problems as they develop throughout the day. And all with

a smile! Thank you for the work you do to make the district and school buildings

welcoming places for students, staff and parents!

Business Office – Mr. Robert Bruchak, Business Administrator

The Business Office staff provides many critical functions for the district. This is

the area where all the money flows in and out of the district. One critical

function the business office staff completes is payroll. Every two weeks staff in

the business office make certain that every employee is paid. This is a critical

Page 47: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

function that must be performed accurately. It is also extremely important that

all of the district’s vendors get paid on time. This is vital to make sure the

district receives all the necessary supplies for teaching and learning. Every day

the business office staff handles public funds that have many restrictions and

controls on how the funds are accounted for and spent. The district’s clean

audits indicate the staff is exceptional at staying in compliance. Thank you for

all your hard work and dedication to the district!

Technology Department – Mr. Chris Smith, Coordinator of Technology

Our computer technicians are a key driving force that makes technology work in

Salisbury. They do so much to support our staff and students from professional

development training to making sure that no matter what, our students always

come first and have a working computer. Without them it is in my honest

opinion that Salisbury would not be able to provide the level of education that it

does. Tom Smith, John Landis, Matt Ritter, and Christina Westfall – THANK YOU

for all that you do!

Psychologists, School Counselors and Social Worker

Our school psychologists, counselors, and social worker are committed to

providing support and service to our students. These dedicated staff members

support our students (and staff members) as they experience challenges and

cheer alongside them as they celebrate successes! Thank you for caring so much

about STSD students and staff!

School Nurses/Nurse Assistants

School nurses have the multi-faceted responsibility of promotion, prevention

and wellness, and they provide access to care for our children to stay healthy and

safe. Recognizing that, “Healthy children learn better,” our school nursing staff

serves as bridge that connects health care providers, public health and families

to meet the needs of the Salisbury Township School District’s students. Today is

National School Nurse Day. Read about the critical services our nurses provide to

our students!

Instructional Assistant

Page 48: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

Our instructional assistants are the unsung heroes of daily help with our

neediest students. So often, they go above and beyond their duties to make an

impact on the quality of school life for many students. We are blessed with the

most dedicated, caring people!

Transportation Department – Mrs. Verna Schuon, Director of

Transportation

Our transportation department took over all special needs transportation this

past year in a terrific demonstration of planning to save taxpayers money. Nancy

Kern and Verna Schuon coordinated unique door-to-door arrangements for

students with disabilities to multiple districts across Lehigh and Carbon

counties. Often with less than 2 days notice, they continue to redesign plans as

student placements change and new students move into the district. For the

weekly changes and new orders you seamlessly manage: Thank you, ladies! And

much appreciation to all the drivers and attendants who are the first “face of

Salisbury” our students see each morning.

Student Activities/Coaches – Miss Monica Deeb, Director of Athletics and

Student Activities

The Salisbury athletic department offers 18 sports and offers a host of

non-athletic extra-curricular activities. A large majority of the SMS/SHS student

body is involved in athletics or extra-curricular activities, and many of those

students are involved in multiple activities. Our coaches and advisers spend

countless hours with our students and we are grateful for their tremendous

commitment. They make a huge difference!

Maintenance/Buildings and Grounds – Mr. William Brackett, Director of

Facilities

Day in and day out buildings get dirty, mechanical items break down, grass

continues to grow, and even sometimes, the snow and ice falls. Yet, everyday, we

assume these buildings will look fresh for the next day, the broken items will be

fixed, the smell of freshly cut grass will linger in the air, the snow and ice will

magically disappear. The buildings and grounds staff performs the dirtiest of

jobs, the jobs that most do not want to do, at times of the day when most are

relaxing or even sleeping; but in order to keep a safe clean environment, suitable

Page 49: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

for for all who walk through our halls, providing an enriched learning

environment to all students, these men and women perform their duties

tirelessly, never looking for praise. I, for one, have never been more proud than

now to be associated with such an outstanding team of dedicated selfless

individuals!

Food Service – Mrs. Denise Steiger, Director of Food Services

The cafeteria staff for Salisbury has done a superb job working with all the new

regulations in the federally-mandated School Lunch Program. The Healthy

Hunger-Free Kids Act developed in 2010 has brought new meal patterns to the

program. For example, vegetables no longer are just vegetables! We now have

dark green, red/orange, legumes, and starchy vegetable categories. The food

service staff needs to know certain details such as green peas fall into the starchy

category and not the green category to assure the correct amounts of food in

each category are offered on the menu each week. As they continuously work to

meet the guidelines, the food service staff keep student requests a priority in

designing the lunch menu. Salisbury can appreciate the hard work and dedicated

concern for our students shown by the food service staff all year!

A Message of Appreciation from the School

Board

by Russell Giordano on May 9, 2013

Last month my family and I celebrated 25 years living in Salisbury. Our

involvement with our school district began in the fall of 1988 and continues to

today. As both a parent and a board member, I have witnessed our

transformation from good to great, from traditional to innovative, from quiet

and unassuming to leading the way in 21st century education.

Throughout these years, you, our loyal and committed employees, current and

former, in all functions within our district, have done the hard work involved

with growth and change and wrestled with the tough choices which have

resulted in the recognized school district we are today.

On behalf of your school board, I send a message of appreciation to each of you

for all you do every day. We are very proud of STSD and your work has made this

pride possible.

Russell Giordano, Board President

Appreciation From Parents

by Randy Ziegenfuss on May 10, 2013

To conclude Staff Appreciation Week we share compliments from parents! Thanks to

these parents for sharing their appreciation.

Two of my children have had Mrs. Smith for biology. She is tough, makes the kids

work and stretches their abilities. I have also seen her have compassion on those

kids who really put out an effort. Mrs. Smith has helped my kids learn in an area

where I am weak. She is a HUGE asset to the teaching staff!

Liz Kuhns

I feel truly blessed that my daughter had a teacher like Mrs. Nester for her first

full-time year at WSE. Mrs. Nester is professional, compassionate, kind, gentle,

understanding, uses great communication & I loved it when she took the time to

come to see her students play softball. Teaching is not “just” a job to her, it is her

love and her passion and it definitely shows because her students “adore” her!

Terri Macauley

I would like to say what a complete pleasure it always is speaking with and

working with Mrs. McKinley in the front office at WSE. She is always happy,

Page 52: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

smiling, friendly and genuinely understands how to deal with multiple situations

at one time. What a joy it is to have a pleasant personality working in an

atmosphere with so many young children.

Terri Macauley

I just want to acknowledge Ms. Quigg for her outstanding approach to handling

my son’s resistance toward school. My son is simply not a fan of school. His

strengths lie in artistic design. Often, my son would create elaborate doodles on

his assignments for Ms. Quigg, and from what I understand, rather than scolding

him, she would praise him for his artistic strength and find ways to encourage

him in art. This helped my son maintain a positive attitude in her class, therefore

ultimately helping him to succeed in her classroom and improving his feelings

about school in general. I can’t thank her enough for her understanding and

helping my son. This mother will remember her for keeping things positive in

the classroom and using a strengths based approach to a unique kid. Thank you,

Ms. Quigg!

Shannon Minnick

Mr Somishka has been part of our family since we started at WSE. He is

AWESOME!! We all love him as a teacher and the person he is and how we will

always remember Mr S., as Max and Brandon call him! We could NOT ask for a

better person to teach our children, and they will grow and take what he taught

our boys all through their lives. Mr Somishka, you are truly an amazing person

and we can’t THANK YOU enough!!

The Morganelli Family

Joe, Michelle, Max, Brandon and Bella

We could not have had a better transition into a new school as we did this year!

Mrs. Moyer is absolutely amazing! By the end of week one, it was clear that she

wanted to get to know our daughter and to make her feel comfortable in her new

environment. The staff is always friendly and also makes it evident that each

child is important. Mrs. Hartman is an active presence at all of the school

functions and cares so much about the kids! We have enjoyed the family nights

and look forward to continuing to blend into such a wonderful community!

Gina Gitzsimmons

Ms. Quigg has been a wonderful teacher to my son who moved from a new school

district this year. She is insightful and inspirational and really helped open up

the world of language arts. We will miss her very much!

Jeri Forestieri

Thank you, Megan Basile, for helping my son with his PJAS project! Your

dedication towards your students is remarkable. The hours you have put forth

before and after school with him has helped him design a product we are all

proud of. Your patience and guidance with how he needs to prepare these types

of projects is providing him with the foundation he needs for the future. Thanks

again!

Two years ago I found myself shopping for a house…and a school district. With

so many local districts to choose from, it was a hard decision. I am so glad I

chose Salisbury. My daughter is thriving here. I appreciate the staff for making it

a great school district, and I appreciate district leadership for focusing on the

whole child, and not just a test score. Everyone at WSE has been so welcoming,

helpful, and caring, I know I made the right choice!

Amy Talaber

My daughter has been influenced so greatly by Christina Attar not only

academically but socially. Bailee has leadership qualities because she has such

an extraordinary model as her teacher. Bailee wants to misbehave because she

doesn’t want to leave her classroom and go to 2nd grade!!! Three cheers for Mrs.

Attar!

Beth Neitz

Mr. Adams went above and beyond to make sure my son had planned studies to

keep him on schedule during his brief time home recovering from surgery. He

took time out of his planned curriculum to have his students make cards for my

son. This meant the world to my son. Upon return to school, Mr Adams already

Page 54: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

had a system set up to assist him in the everyday activities. Mr Adams and his

kindness has truly helped with my son’s recovery.

Irene Killiri

Mrs. Grace Hartman went beyond her role as Principal and placed her caring

nature first in questioning the need for my son to endure scholastic testing after

being absent for surgery for skin cancer. It was his best gift after his surgery!

Irene Killiri

I really appreciate when my son comes home from his 4th grade class with Mrs.

DeBona and tells me about the “giant conversations” they have about important

topics like drugs and alcohol.

Rebecca Glenister

Thank you, Mr. Somishka, for making kindergarten such a fun place to learn and

grow for our son! We appreciate your ongoing care, concern, and

communication! Couldn’t ask for a better start to our son’s elementary years!

Sincerely,

Lisa and Srean McGinty

Mrs Terry Bruns is a fabulous teacher and an inspiration to all her students. She

has helped my son many times and made him feel comfortable knowing she was

in the high school for his freshman year! Thank you Mrs. Bruns for all you do!

Donna McCandless

I don’t have any one comment about any single staff member at STSD–there

would be too many for me to single out! I had an overall positive experience as a

student in Salisbury Township School District (class of ’85!)–so much so that I

am now raising my children in the district and find myself impressed and

grateful to the teachers who are now educating my kids. I spent three years in

the classroom myself as an educator (grades 7 and 8 — English, Speech and

Theatre) and realize what it takes to do the job and be good at it. I am now a

counselor and see the effect teachers can have every day (both positive and

Page 55: Staff Appreciation Week · Staff Appreciation Week May 6-10, 2013 This document contains comments of appreciation submitted by students, parents and staff for publication during Staff

negative) on kids and families. It has been said that you either become a teacher

because you had exceptional teachers or because you had lousy ones. I am

grateful and proud to say that in my case, it was because I had exceptional

ones!! Keep doing what you do–it matters!!!

I agree with previous posts. There are just too many to thank. From extending

and enriching curriculum to effectively addressing learning deficits when they

become evident, my children have received what they need to grow from all their

teachers. We specifically looked to purchase our home in Salisbury because of

the schools. Thank you all.
