SoHo is a neighborhood known for its artists’ lofts, art galleries and stylish boutiques. The requirement for this project is to create a micro unit apartment complex on the corner of Broome Street and Crosby Street. The solarium design allows cross ventilation throughout every apartment, this is achieved by creating an air shaft between the apartment and the circulation corridor.

Fal l 2013Agriculture and Industrial Innovation
Columbus, Indiana is a community that supports their farmers and, thanks to Cummins, rich architecture. The exhibits in this museum are biased on the history of farming, how Cummins manufacturing has affected farm production, as well as the future of farming. After talking to the community members they discussed their concern for a consistent farmer’s market location. The new location for the farmers market is on the south side of the site so the neighboring libraries’ open space could be utilized as well as enhance the farming exhibits within the museum.

Fal l 2014[DI] Vine Winery
In Fort Davis, Texas, there is the Davis Mountains AVA where many grape varieties are grown. Nearby the “hip” town of Marfa, Texas Thrives with interventions, artwork and architecture by Donald Judd. The Di[vine] Winery creates a destination location in this remote desert outside of Marfa with inspirations from Judd’s Works. Currently, a small wine maker grows Cabernet Sauvignon on this land. Di[vine] Winery adds on a production facility, event space, wine tasting areas and additional acreages of grapes. The winery nestles itself into the grapes, immersing the visitor in the vines. The winery takes advantage of the moderate climate and uses passive cooling, cross ventilation and shading in the buildings. Di[vine] winery has six different pavilions, each holding different programs associated with the winery: entry pavilion, production, equipment storage, barrel storage, wine tasting and event space, visitors can travel through a sequence of spaces that engages them with site and production of wine.

Spring 2015Analogous Emotions
“One day it will have to be offi cially admitted that what we have christened reality is a greater illusion than the world of dreams.” - Salvador Dali
The Vatican establishes dominance by isolating itself from the Roman fabric. This intended disruption generates an ambience of curiosity towards this power of altercation. Amusement and awe is recognized within a collective body adhering to the alluring roles of mannerism. A once animated perspective of altering program and fl exibility has been altered into a stagnant pool of individualized temporary use. It is not the architecture itself that has failed but the intention of the collective that has lost sight of the primal incentive.

Stacy FaleschI am a fifth year student at Iowa State University pursuing a Bachelor degree in Architecture and minor in sustainability. I am eager to work in an environment that encourages me to push my current abilities and allow me to grow as a designer. I believe architecture has an impact on the society we live in, no matter how large or small the project may be. I am passionate about making a difference in my community by using the problem solving skills I have learned through my studies in architecture. I look forward to working in a professional setting with those who design to make a difference.
