Right to Life
For those who will die this week, and especially for those in pain, that our prayers may guide them home, and fill their hearts with peace;
We pray to the Lord

Next Sunday’s Readings:
Acts 27:7-9 Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20
John 17:20-26
Today’s reading from Revelation offers a vision of the City of God, the new Jerusalem. “But,” the bishop’s pastoral on stewardship reminds us, “that ‘life to come’ is in continuity with this present life
through the human goods, the worthy human purposes, which people foster now.”
JOIN US FOR COFFEE Everyone is invited to drop in downstairs at the Parish Center before or after Mass next Sunday (10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., May 20th) to enjoy some hot coffee, delicious snacks and a chance to catch up with friends.
REVIEW YOUR WILL Everyone should have a will. You are the steward of the treasures that God has given you on earth; be sure to determine how they will be distributed after you’ve returned to Him. Consider also making a gift to your parish by including St. Thomas the Apostle Church in your will. If you would like more information, please contact the Stewardship Committee through the Parish Center.
Pray For Vocations
“Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Before one enters novitiate or seminary there is a normal amount of fear. Have you let fear hold you back from seeking to serve Christ and His Church as a priest or religious? If so, it is you that He is seeking in today’s Gospel. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Christ would never call anyone to a life that is beyond their capabilities. He is present, especially through the Holy Spirit and God’s grace, to support and assist you in your struggles. If your heart is seeking the religious life or priesthood, pray to the saints and angels seeking their help, and contact the Office of Vocations at 973.497.4365 or email [email protected].
PRAY FOR OUR SICK:
Nicholas, Paul & Michele Fasone, Michael Ocone, Glen Pernia, David Stefanelli, Helen Ponelis
Eleanor & Peter Franco
REST IN PEACE:
Ralph C. Avallone, Mary T. Paris

LEARNING TO LIVE WITH YOUR LOSS
May 20, 2007 – 1:30-3 p.m. in the Parish Center
Our theme will be:
New life can be found all around us.
And if I go while you’re still here Know that I live on, Vibrating to a different measure Behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me So you must have faith. I wait for the time when We can soar together again, Both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to the fullest And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart, I will be there.
- Emily Dickenson

MOTHER
God, in His infinite wisdom, fashioned a jewel so rare That nothing can equal its brilliance, Nothing can ever compare with the indescribable loveliness, The beauty of the stone. And then He gave it to me to keep … but not to own. For He said it belonged in Heaven, The outstanding jewel in His Crown; A flawless perfect specimen, this diamond of great renown. “Treasure it always,” He whispered, “Though I’ll take it back some day, The world will be a better place because I let it stay. Give thanks I loaned it to you, and handle it tenderly, For all who see its brilliance, will be a little nearer to me. It will influence the hearts of many to be good, kind and true. This jewel you know as ‘Mother’ which I kindly loaned to you. Even when I take it back, its brightness shall remain, To guide your steps throughout your life, ‘Til you hold it once again.”
- Melva Doyle Gray
Only you [Jesus] and your Mother are more beautiful than everything. For on you, O Lord, there is no mark; neither is there any stain in your Mother.
