A WEEKLY REFLECTION By Father Jeff Norfolk Choosing God First Lent is an opportunity to spend 40 days striving to place God back at the center of our lives. Growing in humility is a first step in daily choosing God above all other things and above all other people. The Litany of Humility is a beautiful prayer written by Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val (1865-1930), who was the Secretary of State for Pope Saint Pius X. I recommend praying it daily during these remaining days of Lent. O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me. From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being loved... From the desire of being extolled ... From the desire of being honored ... From the desire of being praised ... From the desire of being preferred to others... From the desire of being consulted ... From the desire of being approved ... From the fear of being humiliated ... From the fear of being despised... From the fear of suffering rebukes ... From the fear of being calumniated ... From the fear of being forgotten ... From the fear of being ridiculed ... From the fear of being wronged ... From the fear of being suspected … That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may be esteemed more than I ... That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease ... That others may be chosen and I set aside ... That others may be praised and I unnoticed ... That others may be preferred to me in everything... That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should… Margarett Schlientz—How Do I Listen to the Voice of God? Margaret will offer us sever- al suggestions on how to get better at one of the most important things we do - listen to the voice of God. Please bring a Bible.

WEEKEND LITURGICAL MINISTRY SCHEDULE

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION “Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 How often do we invest our time, talent and treasure in creating an appearance that does not matter at all to God? We strive to impress with our clothing, home, career, possessions, car and other marks of distinction. But none of these illusions of greatness will impress God. Instead, He will look into our hearts to see how much we loved Him, how much we loved others and how we showed that love by the way we used our time, talents and treasure here on earth.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE By Bud Ozar

Failure to forgive blinds us to another’s goodness. Lent provides an oppor-tunity to wash away our blind-spots in the pool of forgiveness. Listen to Jesus in today’s gospel: “Go wash and see.”
