Dear Family of St. Teresa, While I have been recuperating from surgery, folks have been sending me different prayers and thoughts to help me over some of the rough spots. I received one that meant a great deal to me and I would like to share it with all of you this weekend. Please once again thank you for all of the thoughts, best wishes, cards and prayers throughout this situation. I simply don’t know what I would have done without God’s grace and my loving family at St. Teresa.

The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on

the armor of light. (Romans 13:12, NIV) Father in heaven, we thank you for giving us light.

We thank you for the great hope for a day whose light is not of our making, whose source is in you, a day to come that can touch our lives already today.

Keep our hearts steadfast, free of all human wavering. May we always hold to the love you have

given through your grace, and may we find joy in your love, which is full of light and understanding.

Amen. Have a great week everyone, and may the Blessing of our Loving Creator be upon all of us, His family of St. Teresa. God Bless, Fr. Mike

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Oct. 18 Isaiah 53:10-11 Psalm 33 Hebrews 4:14-16 Mark 10:35-45 Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Oct. 25 Jeremiah 31:7-9 Psalm 126 Hebrews 5:1-6 Mark 10:46-52 We are back for one final round of the apostles dealing with Jesus’ words about his going to Jerusalem, where he will be rejected, put to death, and raised again. The first time, Peter had opposed Jesus head-on. The second time, the whole group lapsed into silence at what Jesus said, then when he was out of earshot, changed the topic to “Who’s the greatest?” Immediately before today’s Gospel, Jesus had just finished speaking one more time about his coming suffering and death. James and John provide yet another reaction. Moving quickly beyond the unpleasantness of Jesus’ suffering and dying, they boldly ask for the places of honor when Jesus comes in to glory. “Yes, yes, we can drink of the cup of suffering and death. No problem. Just give us top places at the Glory Table”. The other ten are furious, of course. (Most likely because James and John had beaten them to it). Jesus must have sighed from his toes. But again he tries to educate them into the way of God’s kingdom. There is the world’s greatness and the kingdom’s greatness. Kingdom greatness has to do with service. Not self-service but self-giving service. Greatness=Service! On October 18 we will be singing the Mass of Wisdom which begins on page 199 in the Missalette. On October 25 we will be singing the Massa Pacem which begins on number 271 of the Blue Gather. 9 Months with Christ in the Womb: from March 25 to Dec. 25 we will be participating in this Respect Life Prayer Campaign promoting a consistent ethic of life. Jesus now weighs three and a half pounds, and he is also eleven inches long. Jesus of the womb, Hear our prayers! Please Pray: Most fragile child of Mary’s protection, we look to you as the youngest image of perfect innocence. We lift up our prayers to you who will save each of our souls. Just as you entered humanity through this most gentle and helpless state, now help us to find your presence in the faces of all the gentle and helpless persons of the earth. Bless us with eyes that see you and ears that hear you: in the presence of the poor and the outcast, the hungry and the homeless, the condemned and the war-torn, the elderly and the unborn. May we discover you every day as at Christmas and offer you our gifts every day as at Epiphany. This we ask of You and the Father, with your Holy Spirit, and in union with Mary your tender home. Amen.

One Faith One Hope One

Love Campaign Update

This week, the Campaign Team is pleased to

announce that our campaign has reached a total of

$365,000 in pledges from a total of 32 gifts. This

total represents 42% of our overall goal.

Last week, I discussed the Catholic Education portion

of the One Faith, One Hope, One Love campaign.

Now I want to focus your attention on another need

the campaign will address – Fostering Vocations.

Fostering

Vocations………………………………..$16,000,000

Few dioceses have a local institution dedicated to the

formation of priests, permanent deacons, and lay

ministers. With this blessing comes a great

responsibility, which The Athenaeum fulfills through

forming and educating.

Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West offers our

future priests formation, spiritual guidance,

theological knowledge, practical and pastoral

experience, and a prayerful home for the men who are

answering the call to priestly ministry remains one of

the few Catholic seminary graduate schools of

theology in the Midwest. As the third-oldest Catholic

seminary in the United States, the institution has for

over 180 years been dedicated to preparing men and

women to do God’s work.

In order to continue this important mission in the life

of our local Church, One Faith, One Hope, One Love

will provide for:

Tuition assistance for our seminarians, college

seminarians, permanent deacons, lay pastoral

ministers and other laity following their

vocational call.

Increasing the endowment for faculty and staff

positions to ensure academic excellence and

long term viability.

Securing our sacred space with support to

facility operating costs, classroom technology

upgrades, renovation for additional residential

rooms to accommodate the anticipated growth

in seminarian numbers, and weatherproofing

the main building.

Thank you all once again for your generous

support of the One Faith, One Hope, One

Love campaign.

One Hope One Love campaign check out the
