We, collectively, embody the spirit of the rich man. In Europe we have a mountain of beef, of cereals and of butter, a lake of wine and a lake of milk, that cost a fortune to maintain. These are like the crumbs that fall from our table. The warning of Amos aims at us: “Woe to those ensconced snugly in Zion.” However, the problem of shocking inequality of opportunity in our world is so large that we tend to shrug off any responsibility for our personal part in it. You may be living in a bed-sitter with few comforts or struggling just to meet mortgage repayments on your home. Yet all the services we benefit from, our public transport system, our education, our health services etc. derive from the rich man’s club to which we belong. In that sense, we are dining at the rich man’s table. Parish Office hours: Tuesday & Friday: 9am-2pm

Renovation Work on The Parish Centre: Progress on the refurbishment of
the Parish Centre is going very well & we are becoming ever closer to
finishing. Our fundraising is still ongoing for the refurbishment works &
everyone’s help is very much appreciated. At the back of the church is a list
of individual items needed to complete the works. If you are happy to
make a donation & sponsor an item, please put your name next to the
item on the list before making your donation to the Parish Office. Thank
you to everyone for your generosity in helping in our fundraising efforts.
We also have a ‘building fund box’ at the back of the church should you
wish to donate - all monies collected mean we are a step closer to making
the Parish Centre a great addition to our community! Thank you very much
to those who have donated to the box so far! Please be advised that all
activities within the Parish Centre have stopped & if you are able to lend a
hand, please speak to Sean Moore, Mark Barrell or the Parish office.
Thanking you in advance for your support!

Green Screenings – What’s the story behind our food: Abbots Langley Transition Town Association has arranged a pair of film screenings at the Henderson Hub in October to highlight the role of big business in our food production. Issues of social justice and how people and our environment is treated are explored in these films. The first is 'Tigers' - a drama about the work of a whistle-blower and the sale of baby milk powder in Pakistan on Thursday 3rd October, 8pm. The second is 'In our hands - seeding change', a documentary about the work of farmers in Britain, who are 'taking back control' through their method of farming and caring for the land. This film is on Friday 11th October, 8pm. Tickets for each film is £5.00 on the door that evening, or by ringing Mary on 01923 351281, or from the eventbrite website: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tigers-tickets-71304007205 or https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/in-our-hands-seeding-change-tickets-71425057269 (£5:70 - including booking fee)
