SpiritualGrowthGroupswereintroducedin2007.Thesegroupsserveasaplaceforpeopletoformfriendshipsandtogrowspirituallywithincommunity.ThesegroupslearnwhatitmeanstofollowChristinasafeandcaringenvironment.Groupshaveusedbooks,videosandotherresourcesasaguide.Asignificantbook“WeMaketheRoadbyWalking”byBrianMcLarenwasusedasayearlongstudyforsmallgroupsandworship.
2. Outreachhasacommitmenttocommunity.Thesouplunchandbasementstorerunweeklymostoftheyearandserveawaytobuildcommunity.Wehavereachedouttoourcommunityschoolandthiscontinuestodevelop.AteamcoachesdriversthroughourImmigrantInitiativeProgram.ThePiecemakers(Quilters),aninterdenominationalgroupmeetsatSPUCandsharestheirbeautifulwork.SPUCsponsoredaSyrianrefugeefamilywithGrosvenorParkUnitedin2016.SpiritualGrowthGroupsalsoparticipateinmissionprojects.

3. Connectionsministryhasstrong,vibrantteamsthatserveupwarmandwelcominghospitalitytothosewhocometoworship.Thesetrainedteamsprovidesupportandcaring.ConversationsaboundwhichareencouragedthroughConnections.CelebrationsandgatheringsalsohappenthroughConnections.
4. FaithForwardministryistoencouragebelonging,accompanyingandparticipatinginafaithjourneyforbelieversandseekersofallages.Wefocusonbuildingpan-generationalrelationships.WearelearningtotalkopenlyaboutourfaithandwhatitmeanstoliveinthewayofJesus.
5. WorshipDesignworksasateaminthecreation,coordinationandimplementationofweeklyworship.Thisteamworkscloselywiththeminister.Thegoalistoprovideanexperiencewhichinspiresandchallenges.

1.PhysicalPlant:St.Paul’sUnitedChurch,454EgbertAvenue,Saskatoonconsistsofaworshipspace,hall,auditorium,frontlounge,churchofficesandacommercialkitchen.Thetotalfloorareais15,700sq.ft.Thefrontloungeareaisair-conditioned.Theworshipareacanaccommodateupto250peopleintheoakpewsandbistrostyletableandchairsonthemainfloorandbalcony.Anelectricpiano,drums,andbosesoundsystemandworshipteamareaislocatedinthefrontoftheworshipspace.Screensarelocatedatthefronttofacilitatetheadditionofdigitalandmultimediaintoourcelebrations.Behindtheworshipspacearewashrooms,furnaceroomandstorage.St.Paul’shas4Maccomputersand1PC,andaphotocopier.Thehallisimmediatelyadjacenttotheworshipareawiththekitchenattherearandtheauditoriumontheotherside.Thehallisusedforthecommunitysouplunch,weddingsandfuneralreceptions.Theseatingcapacityis100.Theauditoriumhasastageandseats150people.Thisfacilityisdesignedforlargerfunctionssuchasourmonthlybreakfastreceptions.Adescriptionofthephysicalplantfollows;3furnaceswhichwereinstalledin2007andthewaterheatingsystemwhichareingoodcondition.2.FinancialResources:ThefinancialresourcesforSt.Paul’saregeneratedbypledges,offeringsthroughthegreybox,churchrentalsandmissionmatterscampaign.Salarieswhichincludeallowancesandbenefitsconstitutethemajorshareofchurchexpenditureswiththeremainingfundsbeingspentonfacilities,programming,missionoutreachandadministration.Ourpropertycommitteehasbudgetedfor$16,450.00inbuildingprojectsfor2017.Thereareconsiderationsrelatedtothelightingintheworshipspace,basementwindowreplacementsandtreeremovalsfor2017.PleaserefertoSt.Paul’sUnitedChurch2016BudgetappendixA.3.HumanResources:St.Paul’shasbeenservedbyonefulltimeordainedministeraswellaspart-timeWorshipArtsDirector(20hoursperweek)andapaidAdministrationAssistant(22hoursperweek).Therearealso3contractpositionsatSPUC:

4.WorshipResources:MusicresourcesusedatSt.Paul’sareMoreVoicesandVoicesUnited.St.Paul’scurrentlyhasaWorshipArtsDirectorand4worshipteamsconsistingofsingersandmusicianswhoarewillingtocontributetheirtalentsduringtheservice.Therearealso4hospitalityteamswhoareprovidingRadicalHospitalityonSundaymornings.5.KidscornerandthePrayground:Kid’scornerislocatedatthebackofthechurchandthebrandnewPraygroundislocatedatthefrontofthechurch.Thesetwoareascanbeusedbyallagestoread,colour,andjournalordootheractivitiesduringworship.Fortheyoungermemberswealsohaveaplayroom.

Ingeneral,thecongregationislookingforayouthful,energetic,andinclusiveMinistertoleadSPUCintothefuture.Inmanyoftheanswersprovided,regardlessofthequestion,itwasrepeatedthatayouthfulMinisterwhoisproactive,pan-generationalandinclusiveiswhatSPUCneeds.AlargemajorityofthecongregationwantsadynamicMinisterasopposedtomoretraditionaloneasillustratedinthedatafromquestionfour,where76%oftherespondentsmadethedynamicchoice.Lastly,thecongregationlikeshowSPUCusestechnologyinitsSundayservice.Therefore,havingaMinisterwhoiscomfortableusingtechnology,andlettingotherscreateanduseit,isanimportantfactortoconsideraswell.Thecongregationappreciatesthepeople,themusicandthesmallsenseofcommunitythatSPUCcurrentlyenjoys.Amajorityofrespondentsfeelthequestionoftheday,coffeeandconversation,snacksandgreetersatthedooraregreatwaystomakethechurchfeelinviting,warmandhospitable.Therewereseveralmentionsthatthecurrentapproachtoworshipcouldbefarmoreinclusiveforchildrenandyouth,somethingtoothatthenewMinistercouldbeactivelyengagedin.Intermsofwhatpeoplethoughtaboutthecurrentwayservicesdelivered(Question#7)mostpeoplelikethewaythecurrentservicesarebeingdelivered,butthereisalwaysroomforimprovement.Mostratedtheserviceasa4/5where5waslabeledas“great”.Thelastnoteworthycommentisthequestionaskingthecongregationwhereweshouldfocusourefforts.Thetoppriorityidentifiedbythecongregationwasworship,followedbythemission,programming,childrenandyouth,pastoralcare,administrationandlastwasother(noadditionalcommentsprovided).
