I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone the Havana Senior Center has reopened. The remodeling has been completed and it looks wonderful. Thank you to the volunteers that made the remodeling possible. The Senior Center is a place where seniors

can socialize and enjoy lunch and activities. Riverview Estates hosts lunch and bingo at the Senior Center on the second Tuesday of the month. This year the proceeds from our Easter Breakfast will benefit the Havana Senior Center. Please help us support the Senior Center by having breakfast with us on 3/28.Kristi HubbsDirector - Riverview Estates

I would like to invite everyone to our annual Easter Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt to be held at Riverview Estates on 3/28/15. Breakfast is from 8 am to 10:30 am and will include pancakes, sausage, coffee, orange juice for $5.00 for Adults and $3.00 for children. All proceeds benefit the Havana Senior Center. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10:00 am. All ages of children are welcome to participate. Don’t forget Easter is early. It falls on 4/5/15 this year. Happy Spring!

Shirley Lynn was honored on 2/9 for her years of volunteer service for The Mason District Hospital Ladies Auxillary.

She has been a member for many years and has seen the hospital and the auxillary go thru many changes.

St. Patty's Day Facts

1. St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17 because that is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is believed that he died on March 17 in the year 461 AD. It is also a worldwide celebration of Irish culture and history. St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland, and a provincial holiday in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

2. The actual color of St. Patrick is blue. Green became associated with St. Patrick’s Day during the 19th century. Green, in Irish legends, was worn by fairies and immortals, and also by people to encourage their crops to grow.

3. St. Patrick did not actually drive snakes out of Ireland; the snakes represent the pagans that he converted to Christianity.

4. The very first St. Patrick’s Day parade was not in Ireland. It was in Boston in 1737.

5. In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, people traditionally wear a small bunch of shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear orange, white and green badges, and women and girls wear green ribbons in their hair.
