Over a number of years the school has applied to the Catholic Education Office seeking financial assistance to either refurbish or construct a new school hall facility. Despite our best efforts our Capital Grant Applications have been unsuccessful! Last year the local State Member of Parliament, Lizzie Blandthorne, contacted the school and she encouraged us to apply for a grant under a new release of Victorian Government Capital Funding. In third term we applied for a grant that together with a proposed school loan would allow us to proceed with the demolition of the portable classrooms and the majority of the current east/west facing hall. Construction of a new north/south facing hall would then follow. The new hall building would extend from near Landells Road to the west end of the school property.
We were advised last week that we will know if we are successful in obtaining a State Government grant in the new few weeks.

CONFIRMATION
Congratulations to all the grade six students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Friday. Bishop Terry Curtin was delighted with how well the children were prepared and the reverence they displayed in the church. On WEDNESDAY 23 MARCH at 11:45 there will be a whole school paraliturgy led by the grade six students. The children will be presented with their certificates and are asked to bring their stoles to school for the celebration. Parents are most welcome to attend the celebration. Thank you to Kim King for the amazing work she put into making the Confirmation banner that looked fantastic.

Preps The firefighters revisited the preps on Monday to discuss with the children their safe meeting places around the home in case of an emergency. The Children were also given a tour of the fire engine and some equipment used by the fire fighters. Our favourite was having a turn of the fire hose.
Juniors Last Thursday the junior classes participated in a Billy Cart Incursion. This Day was part of the Inquiry unit T.E.A.M.-Together Everyone Achieves More which focused on developing the students personal and social skills by encouraging them to participate, interact and work cooperatively with others. The students worked together in small groups to design and build their billy carts and thoroughly enjoyed giving their billy carts a test run. The interaction and support between the students ensured that the day was a valuable learning experience for all and a great success.
Middles Last week Lizzie Blandthorne, the State Member of Parliament for Pascoe Vale and Liam visited the middles and spoke about the laws in Australia. The middles asked Lizzie many questions about Laws. We really enjoyed Lizzie and Liam coming to tell us some information about the laws in our country. Reflection written by Nicola & Estelle
It’s been a short but very productive and busy term. The Preps have had a sensational beginning to their school life. Congratulations to all prep children and their teachers. There has been a buzz of activity throughout the school this term. We have had guest speakers and incursions supporting the children’s investigations, senior camp, confirmation and of course interschool sports which have seen all students very engaged. We look forward to another wonderful term and wish everyone a very happy Easter and enjoyable break. Liz Finlayson Learning and Teaching Leader
