Principals are part of a large and dynamic educational ministry of the Cairns Diocese. The role of Principal is a challenging and rewarding leadership role within the Catholic school community. The Principal plays an essential role in the growth and development of students.
The following documentation outlines the criteria which are essential for applicants to be considered for selection as a Principal within Catholic Education Services. You will note that the criteria are divided into two sections: - essential criteria and highly desirable criteria. These criteria are taken into consideration in the selection and appointment process for the Principal. As well as the criteria listed here, community needs which are identified in the community profile are also taken into account.
Meeting the essential criteria listed in this document is required for an applicant to be eligible for short-listing and selection. However, the Executive Director has the authority to exercise discretion with regard to selection criteria in exceptional circumstances. In order to make an informed decision on your suitability for the position, Catholic Education will require to speak to referees that you nominate. The Catholic school system is an integral part of the Church. The Catholic Diocese of Cairns extends from Cardwell in the south, west to the Northern Territory border including the Atherton Tablelands, and north to gulf country, Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands.
