HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FR. JOSE FROM THE PARISHIONERS
OF ST. MICHAEL !!
PALM SUNDAY
MARCH 20, 2016
PASSION
The word “passion” connotes deep, focused engagement. It also relates to passivity, interestingly. The deeply pas-
sionate person in the Gospel narrative from Luke is Jesus. He appears passive, but he is not. He is wholly self-
possessed and wholly present for the one day that begins on Thursday evening at his last meal with his apostles
and ends with his burial before sunset the next day. Then follows the long Sabbath silence.
The narrative of the Passion is read whole and without pause on the Palm Sunday of the Passion. This story,
found in each of the Gospels, is unchanging. We are the ones who change. Each year, we bring ourselves with
another year’s history to hear and heed the story we so badly need. Life has its way with us, and we look again to
the Passion narratives to learn to follow.

POPE FRANCIS FIVE FINGER PRAYER
The thumb is the closest finger to you. So start pray-
ing for those who are closest to you. They are the per-
sons easiest to remember. To pray for our dear ones
is a “Sweet Obligation.”
The next finger is the index. Pray for those who
teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the
support and wisdom to show direction to others. Al-
ways keep them in your prayers.
The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us
of our leaders, the governors and those who have au-
thority. They need God’s guidance.
The fourth finger is the ring finger. Even though it
may surprise you, it is our weakest finger. It should
remind us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those
plagued by problems. They need your prayers.
And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest
of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for
yourself. When you are done praying for the other
four groups, you will be able to see your own needs
but in the proper perspective, and also you will be
able to pray for your own needs in a better way.

EASTER DINNER AT ST. MICHAEL
Easter Dinner to be held at St. Michael's in
the Parish Hall on Easter Sunday, March
27th at 2:00 pm.
Easter is the holiest day in our Christian calendar, as we
celebrate Christ's victory over death for our salva-
tion. What better way to say "thank you" to Jesus than by
serving our parishioners?
Volunteers are needed to prepare, cook, serve & clean
up. In addition, the dinner itself will be open to anyone
who wants to enjoy an afternoon meal with their parish
family; young & old, those who have no family in town to
enjoy a meal, single Moms with children- all are welcome
at the table.
The Jesuits begin important functions by saying, "with joy
& gratitude". This will be our theme, so please consider
joining us to serve & eat a delicious meal! Kindly email
Mary & Bill Ramsey if you can assist with the prepara-
tions at: [email protected]
In addition, we request that you call Mary & Bill at
904-432-8185, or email, with a dinner reservation so
we can properly plan for those who will attend.
