School Assemblies School Assemblies are now held every fortnight. They will be held in the even weeks and will continue to commence at 2:45pm on Mondays. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend the assemblies. Today the Foundation students presented their 100 Days of School Celebration.

Pupil Free Day The first Pupil Free Day for this year will be held on Friday 18th August. On this day, staff will spend time working on school reports. In our end of year reports, there will be some changes to the Literacy section. More information about this will follow in Term 4.

Coats for Kids – St Kilda Mums Thank you to the families who generously donated coats to the St Kilda Mums appeal for Coats for Kids. Thank you to Leah Lloyd Smith who organised St Mary’s participation in this appeal.

School Uniform – Term 3 It is expected that all children are in full Winter Uniform. Please be aware of the following uniform expectations:

Boys should be wearing long trousers not shorts. Students are not permitted to wear nail polish. Students should always be in correct school uniform that is clean and tidy. Hair that is longer than shoulder length is to be tied back. All hair ties are to be either navy blue or white. White or navy ribbons are permitted. Plain sleeper or studs are permitted to be worn. On these cold mornings, students may wear a navy blue coat, raincoat, beanie, scarf. Please keep the

colours to navy blue, the same as our school uniform colour. A note from a parent is required to be given to your child’s teacher when they are out of School Uniform.

R E T U R N I N G I N 2 0 1 8 Each year at this time we commence our planning for the following school year. Enrolment patterns influence staffing, class numbers and our response to enquiries about new enrolments. A form will be sent home this week and we ask that you complete the form to advise us if your child is returning in 2018 so that our planning is as accurate as possible.

S T U D E N T W E L L B E I N G N E W S Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017 (Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September) This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new sports equipment for our students. You will receive a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school or at Woolworths in Acland Street. At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. We understand that families shop at other food stores and we don’t ask that families change their shopping habits to support this program. If you do shop with Woolworths and would like to support the program, thank you in advance.

ART SHOW NEWS – Thursday 21s t September St Mary’s Art Show is back in 2017 and we are looking forward to exhibiting all the creative artistic talents of our students on Thursday 21st September. Art will be displayed in the St Mary’s Parish Hall throughout the day and ending on the night with a wine and cheese celebration (adults only). Each class will be creating a collaborative art piece that will be auctioned off on the night. Funds raised from the event will go towards paying for the new playground and running costs to put on the event. We invite families to submit a family art piece that will be on show for everyone to enjoy. A great opportunity to get the family together and create a long lasting master piece. Details about the family art piece will be on CareMonkey.

Ben Fahey - Community Leader

CAREMONKEY – IMPORTANT INFORMATION A reminder that this Term, school permission slips and event information will be sent out via the CareMonkey system. This means that families will receive information about incursions and excursions on their smart phones, computer or tablets and be able to respond by giving permission for your child to attend quickly and efficiently. As we familiarise ourselves with the new system, some information

may come home in hard copy. Updates and reminders will still continue through the school app. We are moving towards a paperless and more efficient system and ask that all families help to support this endeavour. If you have any questions, please follow the links on the school website under School Community or email either Daniela Borgese [email protected] or myself [email protected].
