Mass When you hear the word pain, it has a negative connotation. Pain can come in different forms, like physical, emotional or even mental. Have you ever thought outside the meaning of pain? ere’s a saying, “No pain, no gain.” Or we have heard people say, “today’s greatest pain will be tomorrow’s greatest gains.” Either way, we have to go through the bitter part to get to sweetness out of it. Now take the letters of pain and break it, P.A.I.N.S is the acronym for Positive Attitude in Negative Situations. It may be silly, but it’s true. Take Mother Mary, for example. e pains she had to overcome was, 1. Saying “yes” to the to the will of God to bring forth our Savior. 2. Traveling that long of a distance to Bethlehem and then having to flee from Bethlehem to save her son. at’s a lot pain for anyone. Today, if our phone breaks it’s as if we had a heart attack (ha, ha, ha). Even with all the pain, Mary looked at her situation with a positive attitude and in return the outcome was positive and now we have a savior who loves us so much that he died for us so that we can live with him forever in eternity. Now let’s take Jesus himself. He went through so much pain no one can ever endure. He was scourged, spat on, mocked and above that crucified. In all that PAIN he was thinking about YOU. He knew if he went through this pain, you will be with him one day in heaven. He thought of the future with YOU, which is how he overcame death. Dear brothers and sisters, No Pain, No Gain May God bless you abundantly! Fr. Saji Pinarkayil is Lent season, let us take a new perspective on Pain and do what Jesus and Mary did when they had pain and have a Positive Attitude in Negative Situations. Vol.7(Feb.4 2018)
