Dear Parishioners,

Alleluia! He is Risen!

He is risen, indeed, Alleluia!

Easter is the greatest feast in all of Christianity. Today is the day when everything God wanted to reveal to us about our relationship to Him has been revealed. The bond has been restored, the gates of Heaven re-opened and the invitation to share in the very life of God in Heaven has been reissued. This is the day the Lord has made! This is the day outside of time that opens to us the everlasting and unchanging dimension of eternity! This is the eternity in which our restless hearts can finally find contentment in Him. Let us rejoice and be glad!

Easter, like Christmas, is celebrated as an “Octave.” This means that eight days are celebrated as one day. Easter is honored each of these eight days, until the following Sunday (Divine Mercy Sunday) as if each of these days was Easter Sunday. Hopefully we made enough ham and Easter eggs to last for all eight days and there is enough candy to last for that time. Meals and activities throughout these eight days should reflect the same Easter joy we celebrate on Sunday.

Next week is Divine Mercy Sunday. We will have our normal Mass schedule. However, I would like to encourage you to make a small “pilgrimage” to St. Pius X Parish in Appleton to partake in Divine Mercy Sunday. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited at 3 p.m. Mass will begin at 3:20 and Confessions heard throughout the afternoon starting at Noon. I will be there, with a dozen or so other priests, to hear confessions. Remember that Our Lord made great promises to those who confess during the eight days on, before or after Divine Mercy Sunday. Please see the bulletin for more information on these promises. If you have been hesitant or resisted going to confession for some time, now is the time to go.

Be Easter People We have just lived the sacred Triduum and celebrated the Lord’s Resurrection. Over this last week, we were reminded about how Jesus calls us all to be His disciples. Through the good works of the Bishop’s Appeal, we are able to follow Jesus by sharing our faith. Giving a gift to the Bishop’s Appeal during the six weeks of this Easter Season would be a wonderful way to continue to follow in the footsteps of our risen Christ. Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Dinner The Immaculate Mary Council of the Knight of Columbus will be hosting a Spaghetti dinner and Parish social on Wednesday, April 11th. Dinner will be served in the St. Mary’s gym between 5 pm and 8 pm. Along with the spaghetti, a fresh garden salad dessert and soft drinks will be served. A free will offering may be made; all proceeds will be used to support St. Mary’s youth programs. The dinner is open to all, parents and families of Faith Formation students are especially welcome to join us. Carry out will be available.

Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast The Immaculate Mary Council of the Knight of Columbus will be hosting a pancake breakfast Sunday, April 15th in the St. Mary’s gym. Breakfast will be served from 9 am to Noon. Buttermilk, potato and blueberry pancakes will be served along with bacon, sausage, eggs, all the fixings and donuts. A free will offering may be made in support of our area’s local charities.

Appointments available for April 8 blood drive Sign-up for the Blood Drive on April 8 is now underway after the Masses in the narthex. Appointments are available on Sunday morning. Anyone 17 and older or 16 years old with parents permission is eligible to donate. Those who come in to donate are eligible to win a $25 gift card. The drive is being organizing in conjunction with the Community Blood Center by the St. Mary Social Concerns Committee.

Divine Mercy Sunday, Special Celebration April 8th St Pius X, Appleton will host the annual Day of Mercy event. This day of special grace will begin at noon. Please join for any part of this prayerful day. From noon to 3 pm: Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and Veneration of the Divine Mercy Image and 1st Class relic of St. Faustina 3 pm: The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be sung 3:20 pm Mass with Father Jim Jugenheimer as celebrant All are invited to join the reception after Mass in the north narthex to celebrate the 14th anniversary of the Divine Mercy Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

Footprints on the Heart Award

The Footprint on the Heart Award is given yearly to promote and celebrate an individual’s contribution to the children of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish. This award is a way to acknowledge and show appreciation for his or her service and will be awarded to the nominated individual at our In the Spirit Dinner & Auction Friday, April 20. The candidate must possess the following qualities:

* Gives whole-heartedly to the parish community

* Impacts the lives of St. Mary Parish children in a positive way
