strength of the Holy Spirit: to celebrate the Holy Sacraments and Worship, Christian Service and Faith Education, to evangelize and practice our faith in active stewardship--with the faith, spirit

January 1, 2017—Mary, the Holy Mother of God
MARY, THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
Wishing YOU and your family and friends, Happy New Year 2017! Dear Brothers and Sisters, we celebrate the New Year
of 2017, with such great joy with the celebration of the
Solemnity of our Mother, Mary, The Holy Mother
Of God! Mary, our Holy Mother and our Patron Saint, pray for
us!
It is Mother Mary’s YES, why we’re celebrating the
New Year with joy and the brightful future. She is the
“Ark Of The Covenant,” “The Tabernacle,” “The Key
of Humanity,” to give honor, glory, and praise to God
the Most High. Mother Mary is what and how we
model our lives to serve God with all the blessings and
graces He has showered on us!
We celebrated Christmas with great excitement and
joy! Why? In Jesus, Emmanuel – God come to save
us! He comes to bring us hope beyond all imaginings;
to embrace us back and show us the light and the way,
for He is the only WAY to the heavenly Father.
St. Paul attested and testified to this proof, “As proof
that you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into
our hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father! So you are no
longer a slave but a son, and if a son then also a heir,
through God.” We are enslaved in the world of sin
and turn away from God. Yet, God gave His own self,
in the person of His begotten Son, to redeem, purify,
and sanctify us back to the Father.
Today’s Gospel from Luke, the message from an angel
to the shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem to see
Mary and Joseph finding the “infant Jesus,” lying in
the manger.” What message that was told to the shep-
herds about the infant Jesus? Do you want to know?
Why are you straying from the Lord and His Church?
What is God’s message to you this New Year?
Yet, only Mary and Joseph who knew the real message! And
Luke states, “And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on
them in her heart.” Then, the story didn’t end from there, Luke
states that the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen, just as had been told to them.
To YOU, when you returned after Christmas Holy Mass, what
ways will you continue to glorify and praising God with this
whole year 2017? What do you hear from God in His divine
living WORD, the Scripture?
Therefore, I will end up with the message and the blessing
from God for the beginning of this NEW YEAR’S 2017: TO
KNOW GOD IS TO LOVE GOD, TO LOVE GOD IS TO LIVE
AND ABIDE IN HIS LOVE,AND BLESS OTHERS WITH
YOUR GOD-GIVEN LIFE! To summarize the greatest blessing
from GOD in His OWN SOLEMN WORDS, the First Reading
from the Book of Numbers (6:22-27) states:
The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let his face
shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!
So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites (and to
you and I) and I will bless them.
God bless you and keep you always! AMEN.
CHARITY AND THANKSGIVING Thank you for your generosity and kindness to our Parish with your Christ-
mas donation. Thank you for your selfless giving of the New Year 2017.
May God bless a cheerful giver! Thank you!

We’re following Pope Francis’ directive to “Go
and Make a Loud Noise for the Lord”
From the Faith Formation Team
Happy New Year. As we continue to cele-brate the Christmas season (yes, the Christmas season continues until January 9th, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord) let us strive to share the Good News of the savior with everyone we encounter.
Some Reminders:
Classes for Faith Formation resume on January 10 (K-6) and Janu-ary 12 (7 & 8), 2017.
Faith Formation challenge – During the season of Christmas we will continue our can and bottle drive to send the gift of a farm animal to a family in need through our missionary partner Food for the Poor. All pa-rishioners are welcome to participate, we will have a box for returnables and a jar for loose change in the lower narthex. We can do great things through small acts of kindness. So far we have raised $157.47. The chil-dren want to help more than one family & we will be voting on which ani-mals we want to gift on January 10. THANK-YOU to everyone who has
donated to this wonderful cause.
I would also like to thank the parents of our Faith Formation Chil-dren. Every time I have asked for extra help or even needed an ex-tra hand or two there have been volunteers in abundance. Again, THANK-YOU so much.
We are building a team for Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Jennifer Nikkle as a new leader for Children’s Liturgy of the Word. We are still looking for another team member or
two to join us in this most rewarding ministry.
Wishing you all the peace of Christ in this Christmas Season.

In January, we are asking that the children of the parish
bring a non-perishable item for donation to the Food
Pantry up to the altar during collection time. There will
be a basket on the apron of the altar to collect their do-
nations. THANK-YOU for your help.

Altar Servers:
Young people (boys and girls) who have received the Sac-
rament of Eucharist are strongly encouraged to serve the
parish as Altar Servers. The Altar Servers assist the cele-
brant throughout the Mass, beginning with the procession
at the beginning of Mass, right through to the very end of
the Liturgy. In addition, they help prepare the altar prior
to the beginning of Mass, and assist after Mass is over.
They are truly present during every part of the Mass, and
are an essential component of the celebration. This min-
istry requires a commitment on the part of the young
person as well as the parents. Adult Servers are also
needed to serve and assist the Celebrant at Mass on the
weekends as well as weekday Mass and Funerals. Exten-
sive training is provided.
Proclaimes of the Word/Lectors:
Lectors are an integral element in our liturgical celebra-
tions, proclaiming God's word to the assembly. If you
possess superior reading and language skills, and have a
background or interest in public speaking, drama, theater
or other performing arts, you would be a perfect candi-
date for this important and rewarding ministry. Men,
women and young people are encouraged to participate
in the Mass as Proclaimers of the Word. Young people
may Lector after they receive the Sacrament of Confirma-
tion. The Lector proclaims the first and/or second read-
ing, as well as reading the announcements prior to Mass
and the General Intercessions. Volunteers are assigned
to serve at weekend Masses as well as special liturgies
throughout the year. Training is provided.
Eucharistic Ministers:
During Mass you will regularly observe lay people (that is
someone who is not an ordained priest or deacon) assist-
ing the celebrant in the distribution of Holy Communion
in both species (bread and wine). These individuals are
called “Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist” or
EMEs. This ministry responds to the condition in the
Church today whereby Catholics are encouraged to share
in communion at every Eucharist in which they partici-
pate, and the large number of persons who are coming
forward to partake of the body and blood of Christ. In
addition to serving at Mass, EMEs bring Communion to
the faithful who are homebound and those who reside in
nursing homes. Men, women and young adults who
have been confirmed are encouraged to participate in this
important ministry. Training is provided. If you are interested in learning more about any of these ministries
