Academic Overview St. Mark’s Summer academic program offers a variety of activities in the areas of reading, science, study skills, mathematics and social studies.
Students in grades kindergarten through third will study reading, mathematics and do activities in science and social studies to help them prepare for the next grade level.
The summer class for 4th graders going into 5th grade will focus on having students make a successful transition from a single teacher to a rotating class schedule. Emphasis will be on mathematics, the Step-Up-To-Writing process and the class book for the 5th grade summer reading will be read.
Students going into grades 6-8 will work on the summer required reading, mathematics and Step-Up-To-Writing.
Students in mandatory summer school due to low grade point averages will be the only group that will receive letter grades. These students must earn a 2.0 grade point average for the session and must turn in 100% of their homework on time if they wish to return to St. Mark’s in the fall.
