Dear Families and Friends of St. Margaret Mary’s,

This past Monday, for the very first time in the history of the Church, all the faithful throughout the world celebrated the Feast of Mary, Mother of the Church. On February 11th, 2018, the Vatican mandated its cele-bration henceforth on the Monday following Pentecost Sunday. Surely, Pope Francis want-ed this and we are grateful, but in my re-search, I found that this feast really goes back to Blessed Pope Paul VI, who at the closing of the third session of the Second Vat-ican council said this: “Meditating on the close relationships between Mary and the Church, for the glory of the Virgin Mary and for our own consolation, we proclaim the Most Blessed Mary Mother of the Church, that is to say, of all the people of God, of the faithful who call her the most loving Mother. And we wish that the Mother of God should be still more honored and invoked by the en-tire Christian people by this most sweet title.”

Mary, under this title has a three-fold motherhood. First, she is Mother of Jesus Christ. With her “Yes” to God, He incarnated in her womb and, as His mother, she raised Him from infancy. This is truly a joyful mystery. Second, Mary painfully gave birth to Him again, when at the foot of the Cross, Jesus gave her to John, representing all believers. St. John took her into his home, which is to say, into his heart. In this truly sorrowful mys-tery, she became mother of the Body of Christ and all His faithful yet suffering mem-bers in every generation. Thirdly, and similar-ly, on Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit came down upon Mary and the apostles, she truly became Mother of the Church. What a glorious mystery, one that we all live every day! In her last years before her As-sumption into heaven body and soul, while staying with St. John in Ephesus, she prayed for the apostles who ventured forth to evan-gelize and establish the Church in the world.

Through her prayers she gave birth to all the newly forming Christian communities. From heaven, she still does.

Mary then is not only Mother of the Church, she is the Model of the Church and of all Christian discipleship. Pope Paul VI continues: “It is therefore with a soul full of trust and filial love that we raise our glance to her, despite our unworthiness and weakness… Although Mother of the Word Incarnate, she is nev ertheless very close to us. Daughter of Adam, like ourselves, and therefore our sister through ties of nature, she is, however, the creature who was preserved from original sin in view of the merits of the Savior, and who possesses besides the privileges obtained the personal virtue of a total and exemplary faith, thus deserving the evangelical praise, beata quae credidisti (blessed art thou who believed). In her earthly life, she re-alized the perfect image of the disciple of Christ, reflected every virtue, and incarnated the evangelical beatitudes proclaimed by Christ. Therefore in her, the entire Church, in its incomparable variety of life and of work, attains the most authentic form of the per-fect imitation of Christ.”

Advocates of euthanasia use terms like “helping in dying.” But this blurs the distinction between giving assistance to a dying person and causing their death. El pasado lunes, por primera vez en la historia de la Iglesia, todos los fieles de todo el mundo cele-braron la fiesta de María, Madre de la Iglesia. El 11 de febrero de 2018, el Vaticano ordenó su celebración el lunes siguiente al Domingo de Pentecostés. Segura-mente, el Papa Francisco quería esto y estamos agra-decidos, pero en mi investigación, encontré que esta fiesta realmente se remonta al Beato Papa Pablo VI, quien al cierre de la tercera sesión del Concilio Vati-cano Segundo dijo esto: "Meditando sobre la Estre-chas relaciones entre María y la Iglesia, para la gloria de la Virgen María y para nuestro propio consuelo, proclamamos a la Santísima María Madre de la Igle-sia, es decir, de todo el pueblo de Dios, de los fieles que la llaman la madre más amorosa Y deseamos que la Madre de Dios sea aún más honrada e invocada por todo el pueblo cristiano con este título tan dulce ".

María, bajo este título tiene una maternidad triple. Primero, ella es la Madre de Jesucristo. Con su "Sí" a Dios, El se encarnó en su vientre y, como su madre, lo elevó en su infancia. Este es realmente un misterio gozoso. Segundo, María dolorosamente le dio a luz nuevamente a El, cuando al pie de la Cruz, Jesús se la dio a Juan, representando a todos los cre-yentes. San Juan la llevó a su casa, es decir, a su cora-zón. En este misterio verdaderamente doloroso, ella se convirtió en la madre del Cuerpo de Cristo y en todos sus miembros fieles pero sufridos en cada generación. En tercer lugar, y de manera similar, el domingo de Pentecostés, cuando el Espíritu Santo descendió sobre María y los apóstoles, ella realmente se convirtió en Madre de la Iglesia. ¡Qué glorioso misterio, uno que todos vivimos todos los días! En sus últimos años an-tes de su Asunción al cielo, en cuerpo y alma, mien-tras estaba con San Juan en Éfeso, ella oró por los apóstoles que se aventuraron a evangelizar y estable-cer la Iglesia en el mundo.

A través de sus oraciones dio a luz a todas las comunidades cristianas recién formadas. Desde el cie-lo, ella todavía lo hace.

María entonces no es solo Madre de la Iglesia,

ella es el Modelo de la Iglesia y de todo el discipulado cristiano. El Papa Pablo VI continúa: "Por lo tanto, con un alma llena de confianza y amor filial, levanta-mos nuestra mirada hacia ella, a pesar de nuestra in-dignidad y debilidad... Aunque es Madre del Verbo Encarnado, ella está muy cerca de nosotros.

Hija de Adán, como nosotros, y por lo tanto nuestra hermana a través de los vínculos de la natura-leza, ella es, sin embargo, la criatura que fue preserva-da del pecado original en vista de los méritos del Sal-vador, y que posee además de los privilegios obteni-dos la virtud personal de una fe total y ejemplar, me-reciendo así la alabanza evangélica, beata quae credidisti (bendito eres tú que creíste). En su vida te-rrenal, se dio cuenta de la imagen perfecta del discípu-lo de Cristo, reflejó todas las virtudes y encarnó las bienaventuranzas evangélicas proclamadas por Cristo. Por lo tanto, en ella, toda la Iglesia, en su incompara-ble variedad de vida y de trabajo, obtiene la forma más auténtica de la imitación perfecta de Cristo”.

En lo alto de un monte de Galilea se reunieron los once discípulos fieles por indicación de Jesús. Allí Jesús les habla de su poder divino: “Todo po-der se me ha dado en la tierra”. Y a continuación les ordena salir por todo el mundo, hacer discí-pulos de todas las gentes y bautizarlas en el nom-bre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. En las palabras del Salvador viene la revelación de un gran misterio: el de la Santísima Trinidad. El misterio de un solo Dios y tres divinas distin-tas es el misterio más profundo de nuestra fe; pe-ro misterio que los discípulos aceptaron por la revelación del Señor y que nos trasmitieron des-de el principio, bautizando en esa misma fe a to-dos los nuevos cristianos que en el mundo han existido.

La Santísima Trinidad: ¿Quién es Dios? ¿Cómo es Dios? ¡Misterio! Para muchos es un problema de matemáticas incomprensible: uno es igual a tres.

Continuamente recordamos este misterio al ha-cer la señal de la cruz. Todo lo hacemos en el nombre del Dios trino. La misa comienza con el saludo trinitario que leemos hoy en la carta de San Pablo: “La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucris-to, el amor del Padre y la comunión del Espíritu Santo, estén con todos ustedes.” Dios es gracia, amor y comunión; esto es lo que deseamos tener entre nosotros. Somos imagen de Dios, de la Tri-nidad, de la Familia de Dios, en cuanto indivi-duos y en cuanto iglesia. Jesús oró para que to-dos fuéramos UNO como El y el Padre son UNO. La unidad de Dios es modelo para nosotros. En el prefacio de la misa de hoy, la iglesia habla

de la fe en la Trinidad en términos de la expe-riencia o vivencia de Dios de la comunidad cris-tiana: creemos lo mismo; sin diferencia ni distin-ción, sobre las tres Personas Divinas. Adoramos a tres Personas distintas, en la unidad de un solo ser, e iguales en su majestad. Por eso creemos en nuestra vocación nos llama a ser personas distin-tas, a vivir unidos, a respetarnos mutuamente por reconocer la igualdad y sacralidad a la que nos ha elevado el Señor en su Hijo. Dejemos a los demás que sean diferentes, amémoslos y respeté-moslos.

Recordemos que la belleza de un ramo de flores proviene de la diversidad y variedad de las clases, colores y tamaños de las flores, Sin la variedad y la diversidad, sin los contrastes que las flores ofrecen, los ramos de flores serían iguales y nos cansarían. Todos somos como flores en el jardín de Dios, y la belle-za de unas hace resaltar la belleza de las otras.

Reflexión

Hoy en día Cristo ordena a los apóstoles que va-yan por el mundo entero bautizando a la gente en el nombre de Dios Trino, para hacer del mundo una sola familia. Al final nos dice que El estará con nosotros hasta el final. En estos momentos estamos disfrutando de la compañía del Señor y de nuestra mutua compañía al compartir todos de la misma Eucaristía.

ANUNCIO IMPORTANTE CON RESPECTO A LOS BOLETOS DE LA

RIFA DE LA FERIA DE LOMITA 2018 La Feria de Lomita es la mayor recaudación de fondos para nuestra parroquia, y la mayor parte de su éxito se debe a la Gran Rifa. Debido al reciente cambio de las Leyes Postales de los EE. UU., Los Boletos de la Rifa de La Feria de Lo-mita de Santa Margarita María no pueden enviarse por co-rreo a los feligreses ni devolverlos por correo postal. Por lo tanto, la distribución y el recibo de los boletos de la rifa serán los siguientes: DISTRIBUCION: Los miembros del personal estarán distribuyendo los paquetes de boletos a todos los feligre-ses después de todas las misas el 2 y 3 de junio, y el 9 y 10 de junio. Si no puede recoger sus boletos durante ese perío-do de tiempo, también estarán disponibles en el patio des-pués de todas las misas dominicales o en la oficina de la Iglesia durante el horario de oficina. Los boletos de la rifa también se han distribuido previamente a las familias de SMMS a través de la escuela.

REGRESO: hay tres formas de devolver sus Boletos de rifa pagados. Usando el sobre Feria (Fair)- incluido en su paquete, regrese a:

1) la Caja Roja en el Patio después de todas las misas dominicales, 2) en la colecta regular de los domingos, o 3) la oficina de la iglesia.

REGARDING THE

2018 LOMITA FAIR RAFFLE TICKETS

The Lomita Fair is the largest fundraiser for our parish, and the major part of its success is the Grand Raffle. Due to recent enforcement of the US Postal Laws, the St. Margaret Mary Lomita Fair Raffle Tickets cannot be mailed to parishioners nor returned through the mail. Therefore, the distribution and receipt of Fair Raffle Tickets will be as follows:

DISTRIBUTION: Fair Staff members will be distributing the ticket packets to all parishion-ers after all masses on June 2nd & 3rd, and June 9th & 10th. If you are unable to pick up your tickets during that time frame, they will also be available on the patio after all Sunday masses or at the church office during office hours. Raffle tickets have been previously distributed to SMMS families through the school.

RETURN: There are three ways to return your paid Raffle Tickets. Using the Fair envelope enclosed in your packet, return to 1) the Red Box on the Patio after all Sunday masses, 2) in the regular Sunday collection, or 3) the church office.
