VISION STATEMENT
This is a place of courage where everyone can give voice to
their aspirations and concerns. Our relationships are marked by
empathy and trust. The adults here are strong and conscious role
models. In this place power is always at the service of the
people. We take risks and so sometimes we make mistakes. We
learn their lessons and move on stronger. Laughter is heard
here often and we celebrate our success. People here are
passionate in their advocacy of depth in learning
and in the pursuit of a more just world. We know that the
dignity of our work is that we touch the future through
and for our children and that tomorrow is being built today.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Children,
We celebrated a whole school mass this morning to
mark the beginning of this term. The focus of our
learning was on “Attentiveness to God‟s presence”
and to pray for God‟s guidance and influence as we
try to develop our gifts in the service of others.
We wish our Cross-country student representatives
all the best at Mawson Park on Friday as they
compete in the interschool championships. All
children competing have been notified by Mr
Noseda and will be transported by bus to and from
the venue on the day. Race fixtures commence at
10.00am.
Friday week (8th August), parents and students
should be aware that St Luke‟s has a Pupil Free
Day scheduled. Staff will be working through the
National Quality Standards (NQS) framework for
early childhood education.
After the Docker shocker a fortnight ago, we get our
chance to redeem ourselves against the Blues at the
unusual day and time of tomorrow night. I am
hoping we have woken from the slumber of last
match and can resume our charge to the finals.
Be happy and enjoy the coming week
David Hunter

CALLED TO HOLINESS
Lord, you call us by name, and you call us to holiness
as you did St Luke. We ask you to fill us with your Spirit
so that we, too, may reflect the life of your Son
in our thoughts and attitude and in our words and actions. Lead
us to grow more aware of your presence in our lives,
and empower us to bring the good news of your love and
salvation
to all those you have entrusted to us. Amen.

PARKING
Thanks to the many parents who ensure they
follow the parking guidelines set by the council
and those of the school. Could I ask that parents
do not park on the paved area adjacent to the
Basketball/Netball courts or on the footpath.
Nationally Consistent Collection Data
(NCCD)- Permission Returns
Some parents were notified before the holidays
about the NCCD and that their children had been
identified by teachers as meeting the criteria for
inclusion. In order that that they be included in
the data collection, parent permission must be
given. The data will be submitted this Monday,
so if it is your intention to provide permission
please return the slip by the end of this week.
Information of the NCCD collection is available
on our website at

EatPlayThrive Free Workshop Dear Parents
Last term Ngala provided a taster session for the EatPlayThrive
workshops. Parents who
attended this session said it was very informative and
worthwhile. Because of the very favourable
feedback we booked a full workshop with Ngala commencing next
week. If you are interested in
attending this workshop which will be held at St
Luke's can you please register ASAP. A creche facility is
available free of charge. For further information
please see attachment.
At this stage we do not have enough people to run
the workshop so unless this changes by the end of this week I
will have to cancel our booking.

BITS AND PIECES REQUEST FROM
OUR COMMUNITY
Pre Primary are on the hunt for bits & pieces and
odds and ends that are too good to throw away
and could be „creatively‟ given another life.
Items such as old Barbie dolls, cars, dress ups
(no superhero‟s please), PVC piping with
elbows, pots and pans, baskets, old bike spokes
and anything else interesting.
Items for the collage table such as buttons,
ribbon, wool, lace, zips, string/twine and
anything else along those lines.
If you have any furniture eg old coffee tables,
story chairs please come and see us with a photo
of the item before bringing it in, so we can see if
it is suitable.
Get creative, we‟d love to upcycle things from
our community and give them another life.
Please bring the bits and pieces and odds and
ends to the Pre Primary classrooms.
Anything we receive that we can‟t use we‟ll
check with the other classes or donate it to
St Vinnies.
Thanks for your help and support.
