Fr. Aidan Writes: The Third Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete Sunday after the first Latin word of the Entrance Antiphon, Rejoice! We might ask the question “what have we to rejoice about after this last year of upheaval; not just here, but abroad?” 2021 will be a year either to

remember or forget! But in the Church,we rejoice for the impending gift of our salvation in the Christ child coming at Christmas, and in hope, through our preparation, for his second coming when-ever that might be. Our rejoicing is always hope-filled for the future. My hope is that we will all move forward positively from this point into 2022 with revived vigor as the Catholic Church alive and active in this part of the central coast. A couple of practical points: Firstly, Our Christmas Family support program is going ahead at a pace. If you could help, contact Patty at the office. We are collecting gift cards that families can take to get presents or clothing etc from general store for children to have something for Christmas. We do not need them for super markets or specialist places.

Secondly. please, please, PLEASE look carefully where you are driving in the parking lot! Two planters have been hit hard and damaged; this should not have been so. The planters are 36 high with a tree and most of them with flowers too, they are visible. During Christmas they will also have lights. We are not going to ruin these improvements by sticking reflectors and tape all over them. Thank you!

As I was growing up, one thing my family was terrible at doing was processing situa ons, especially when some‐thing bad happened. A lot of mes we were just dis‐tracted with things like gi s and trips to make us forget about what had happened. It wasn’t un l I got into min‐istry that I was really able to see the value in talking things out, debriefing talks and retreats. Retreats are so amazing, but at the end of it all we go back to our normal lives and don’t always have the opportunity to process what happened on retreat and share about what we experienced. This weekend, we are gathering with our year 2 teens once again to debrief from our retreat and give them an opportunity to add something on top of the amazing weekend they experienced.
