Keith’s Korner Last Sunday I walked in the annual Frederick
CROP Walk and was able to donate over $600 to eliminate hunger
locally and nationally through the kind support of many of you.
Thanks to all my generous sponsors! The wider Frederick community
is grateful to Marianne Dacey and the other members of our parish
who helped to organize and staff the event this year. November is
the traditional time to pray for our deceased loved ones and
friends. Please inscribe the names of those you would like to
remember in our parish Book of the Dead which will remain near the
altar throughout the month. You are also invited to our annual
Memorial Mass on this Friday 7 November at 7:30 PM at Saint Timothy
Church in Walkersville. Every November it is so impressive to see
several vehicles outside the building fill up as parishioners bring
donated items for the cold weather shelter. Thanks to all those who
cared enough to remember this weekend! Each year before Christmas,
our parish children celebrate the true meaning of Christmas at a
pageant during our "Almost Christmas" party. This year the party
will be on Friday 19 December. We are grateful to Barbara DeGray
for coordinating the pageant this year. If your child(ren) would
like a role in the pageant, please sign up after Mass over the next
few weeks. Thanks to so many of you who have offered prayers for my
dad who had a stroke a little over two weeks ago. With continuing
speech therapy, his condition continues to improve and there is no
paralysis. If he would just agree to move to the east coast, caring
for him would be so much easier. But I guess when you are
86-years-old and have been in sunny Arizona for over 30 years, it's
difficult to imagine leaving, even more so going to a place with
cold and snow! I'll keep praying... Tuesday is Election Day- don't
forget to exercise your faithful citizenship and get to the
polls!

2014 CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM2014 CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM2014
CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM2014 CHRISTMAS BASKET PROGRAM
Our annual Christmas Basket Program, in conjunction with St.
Gregory the Great Parish in inner-city Baltimore, begins the
weekend of 9/10 November through the weekend of 13/14 December.
This struggling parish, surrounded by "The Projects," asks us for
food to help their people. That is our main focus - FOOD - and it
has been for the past 31 years, since the program began.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EACH FAMILY
WITH A $60 GIANT FOOD GIFT CERTIFICATE
Here are two ways in which to participate:
1. Special envelopes will be available in the Gathering Space.
If you wish to contribute money for food, mail your donation in any
amount to the Parish Office, drop the envelope in the offertory, or
turn it in at the table in the Gathering Space through 14
December.
2. If you wish to sponsor a family, you are asked to provide a
check for food in the amount of $60 was well as provide one or more
gift cards for the family to purchase gifts and items they
need.
That's the change from previous years. No individual shopping,
no packages to wrap, and no boxes to fill! The gift cards were
chosen based on their location in the area close to St. Gregory's.
We chose
Target and Giant Food - you just choose how much you want to
spend.
The Frederick community does such a wonderful job of offering
food and gifts to local needy families. That is one reason why the
outreach to Baltimore's inner-city continues. The need is so great
and few
organizations provide for them.
For more information, please call 301-663-5473
