A Question for Children
Share about a time when you felt especially close
to God or Jesus.
First Holy Communion The course continues TODAY at 3.00pm at Woodchester (Leigh Room – up the stairs) with “I
Belong: Baptism.” and “Gathering.” We are running these two sessions into one because of the
cancellation of the previous session due to illness. The double session will run for the normal time
taken for one session, so we aim to finish at 4pm. Then the next session is at Stonehouse (in the hall)
and is entitled “Saying Sorry.” Thank you for your understanding over the cancellation. We would be
very grateful for few parents to get together to form a team to help us now that we have the greatest
number of children ever: Practice your “Teacher’s Look!”
Parish Pilgrimage to Knock Fr Bill and Deacon Bogdan are leading our own pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine at Knock in Ireland.
It was take place early October 2017. Please see the notice board for more details
Lent Lunches We are once again this year hosting the series of six Lent Lunches in the hall, by kind permission of Fr
Bill. Delicious home made soups, bread cheese and often a cake too and all for a good cause. Citizens
Advice has been suggested this year for their debt counselling programme. Everyone welcome, bring
along your friends, the more the merrier!
Deanery Penitential Service Today The Deanery Lenten Penitential Service of Reconciliation takes place here at St. Joseph’s at 3.00pm
today. There are several priests available for confessions.
Lent Groups Lent groups are starting Monday 6th March,, and are based upon the 'Pilgrim Course" that was
used last year. This time it is “Church and Kingdom”
There are several venues and times. Please fill in your preferences on the list on the notice board, so
that we can organise the groups.
APF Red Boxes The Spring Mission Magazine is in the stand in the porch. Please feel free to take one. If your bix
hasn’t been emptied lately, please bring it in. Thank you.
Parish Magazine We would love to receive your articles etc. for both Jostone News and Junior Jostone today please.
Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes August 17-25 for coach & jumbulance pilgrims. August 18-25th for those flying. If you would like to
join this pilgrimage but need financial help, please see Fr Bill or Sandra. Don’t forget the Parish
Lourdes Fund is there to help.
Stations of the Cross Stations of the Cross during Lent are at 7.00pm on Fridays.
Lent Reflections for Young People Throughout Lent, Clifton Dioscese Youth Ministry are holding reflection
evenings for young people aged 10 – 18 (school year 6+). Our nearest
event in on 15 March at The Immaculate Conception, Beeches Green,
Stroud, GL5 4AA from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
Raga Babas The Raga Babas are well known in Stroud and will be holding a high-
energy dance concert at St. Laurence’s Church, the Shambles, Stroud on
25 March from 6.00pm until 9.30pm. The band comprises 13 very talented
muscians and they will be playing a wide variety of world music. No pre-
booking required, there is a suggested donation of £5-£10 on the door.
This will be a fabulous event with all profits going to the Foodbank.
Helping bring someone to Mass on a Sunday Could you give someone a lift to Mass on a Sunday morning? We have
parishioners in Meadow Road, Kestrel Court, Chaffinch Court, Laburnum
Walk and Verney Road who would appreciate a lift to Mass when you
can. Please see Deacon Bogdan if you can help.
Tea and Coffee Rota We’re looking for new volunteers for the tea and coffee rota. If you are
interested, please come and talk to Jenny Pilkington after Mass.
Response to the Bishop’s Pastoral Letter Thanks to everyone who contributed to making a response to bishop
Declan’s Pastoral Letter concerning “Called to be a People of Hope”
and “Parishes in Communion for Mission.”
Thanks especially to Tony Ryan for keeping us on track and for drawing
up our parish’s response.
