Our Matariki story: YAY FLYING KITES! At Matariki we made some kites first, we let Miss K tape on our kites with double sided tape. It was so fun and awesome. Then we folded it in half.
After that we taped the corner of our kites. Soon after that Miss K punched two holes in our kites. The first one was to put our tail in, and the second one was to put the string on then we had to put the red stick onto our kites.
Then we went out onto the field to fly our kites. It was awesome - they went so high it was so cool some of the kites went all the way past the trees. It looked so wonderful. Then Mrs Stephens took videos and pictures of us. When Daisy’s and my kites got tangled up with each other kites it was so annoying.
Then we had to put our kites away. We had to go back to Room 6 to draw something and that it was so exciting. Because we got to use cool colours.

KITES!
In Room 1 we made kites. Korbin, Ashton and Patrick, they used straws, tape, scissors and ribbons. Their teacher was Mrs Stephens. Mrs Stephens is very nice. They started to make the kites by halving the ribbon and sticking it on the red or blue sheet with tape.
They put double sided tape on the corners and ripped off the paper on top of the tape and threw it in the rubbish bin.
The next step they did is to fold the red or blue sheet in half. Patrick, Ashton and Korbin began to get one straw each.
They stuck tape on the straw and stuck it on the corners.
Then the mission group leaders made a hole.
Last of all they got string and made a knot through the hole and we flew our amazing kites.

Kites
Yesterday we made kites. First we got a coloured piece of paper then we stuck the tail on the kite and then we stuck two sided tape on the kite. Then we folded kite in halfway. Then we put the straw on the kite then we put the tape on the straw then we punched a hole in the paper with the hole puncher. Then we put the string through the hole. Then we are ready to fly in the sky. When we are ready to fly we grabbed the string and flew it through the sky .Some kites got stuck in the trees so people that’s kite got stuck had go and get them. Most people had lots of fun. Room 1 was like kite hospital for kites that where tangled if other kites so my teacher had to untangle them. I was working with James - he help me a lot in my mission group room. It was Room 5 and my mission group teacher was Mr Bird. Making kites was super fun i enjoyed it so much that I hope we do it again next year. I enjoyed flying it in the sky because mine didn't break. Isabella Curtin and Emelia Durrant
Matariki Kites
On Tuesday the whole school made kites. Myia made her kite in room 3. She had mission group leaders helping her and Myia made a pink kite with a pink tail.
We started off by getting a pink v shape piece of paper and a pink tail.
Lara started off by getting a dark blue v shape piece of paper and a light blue tail. After you needed to get some double-sided tape, stick it to the v shape piece of paper and then you fold your kite in half.
Then get a straw and put a long bit of tape on the straw and tape the straw to the kite.
After you make it you can go and fly your kite.

Matariki in Room 3
On Monday me and my mission group went to room three. When we got their Mrs Duncan told us to sit on the mat. When we sat on the mat she played a video - it was about myths and legends. It was about a girl and pigeon cloak - kereru.
When the video finished she told the big kids to hand out paper with feathers on it. Then she said “there are crayons over there”. Then we got our colours and I used pink and blue.
Other people used other colours and patterns. Then when I finished I had to cut it out. When I finished cutting it out I put it in a red box, then the bell went to move to the next mission group.

Teka - Dart throwing
On Monday we did darts in our Mission
Group 5. We had two teams. We had Mr
Legge to supervise us. We also had two
point targets with floor protection. We
had 3 chances to get it in. If we got it on
the floor we would get less points. One
team nearly got a bullseye and the tips on
the darts were very sharp and I guess no
one wanted to get hurt
It was very hard. We also got a double
20 - it was very fun and so far we had 42
at one stage and we got up to a hundred
when I didn't even know it. Then we go
to 100 and we were winning but we were
playing against the other mission groups
as well.
The game was over so we added the
scores up and we won so we went back to
are classrooms then we packed up for
home.
