By his own admission he was scared himself – “I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling.” All of us experience fear in our lives from time to time. We think that it is impossi- ble for us to be able to fulfill whatever God is calling us to. But St. Paul is telling the Corinthians and us that God can do anything with us. We may have our own sins, weaknesses, and fears – St. Paul certainly did – But God works through all of that and gives us the gifts of His Spirit and power when we need it for His purposes. God has a plan for each of us and will give us the graces we need to fulfill those purposes. It’s important to re- member that it’s not for our purpose, but His. We ask in the Lord’s Prayer, often that “Thy will be done.” This is easier said than done. It takes humility and a reliance on God. But this is where and when the grace that we need is given, in following God’s will. St. Paul, a sinner and persecutor of Chris- tians, became a great missionary and apostle. Today, let us look toward the Lord and ask for the grace we need to fulfill His purposes in our lives. Peace, Fr. REFLECTION When Jesus heard about the illness of His friend, Laza-rus, He responded, “This illness is not to end in death; rather it is for God’s glory, that through it the Son of God may be glorified.” Every aspect of our lives - our gifts as well as our sufferings - can, if surrendered to Christ, lead to blessing for others and ourselves.

Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan
and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls
