THE MOST HOLY TRINITY May 27, 2018

Dear Parishioners,

Sunday after Pentecost is the Solemnity of The Most Blessed Trinity and the Gospel gives us a summary of Jesus work of salvation. This event in today’s reading took place on a mountain in Galilee. The resurrected Jesus appeared to His apostles and revealed to them that God His Fathers has given Him all power and authority both in heaven and on earth. In this incident Jesus gave His mandate to His followers, their universal mission. First of all, He tells them that all power is given to him the from the Father as the Risen Christ. Therefore, He has an astro-nomical role as King and inheritor of the whole universe. He wields full authority over all creation. Secondly, through the power and authority given to the apos-tles they are to bring the whole of mankind to Jesus. They have to transform the whole humanity and creation into the vision and mission of Christ. That means that there is no exception: regard-less of color, language, race, status, age and gender. In the Sacra-ment of Baptism we use the Trinitarian formula when the candi-date is immersed three times in the water in the name of the Fa-ther, Son and Holy Spirit. Thirdly, Jesus mandated them to teach and preach as their primary obligation as His followers. They have to continue these works of Christ. They have to share the message of Christ as the source of everlasting life. They should not fabricate anything but be faithful to the original teachings of Christ. Lastly, He gave them the assurance that they’ll not be alone; that He will be with them all the days of their lives. He will now reign in the believing community until the consummation of the world and His second coming.

God bless you.

Fr. Jacobs.
