Have you heard of Scott Hahn?

He was a Protestant minister militantly anti-Catholic and tried to convert Catholics away from their faith. The more he reads, the more the Catholic church made sense and he is now a fervent Catholic. Some of his protestant minister friends also became Catholic. He is one of our faith's best advocates and is a professor at a Catholic University . His writings describe our faith well both for cradle Catholics but convincing proof for our faith for people of other denominations. His conversion story is a must read!

Fr. Michael Moore will be with us again during the weekend of August 13th and 14th. Many of you know him already from his many visits to St. Isidore Church. This time he will be making the MISSION-ARY COOPERATIVE PLAN APPEAL on behalf of the St, Patrick Fathers. He is a member of the St. Pat-rick Fathers and has been on their USA Promotion Team since 1994.

MISSIONARY COOPERATIVE PLAN APPEAL

Our church us a missionary church. From the beginning, it has obeyed Christ’s command to go out and preach the gospel to everyone in the world. This missionary work involves recruit-ing missionaries, training and equipping them for their task-maintaining them and supporting the new, young churches until they are estab-lished. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is established in every diocese to organize sup-port for the missions. Each year, it appeals for funds on Mission Sunday. Also, every year, it brings to each parish, one of the groups work-ing in the missions to speak about their particu-lar work. This year, the ST. PATRICK FATHERS, who work in Africa, Brazil, and Grenada, have been assigned to peak at our parish. We will have a second collection to support their work. CYO Basketball

Registration Announcement

St. Isidore CYO basketball registration for the 2016-2017 season started last June 9th and will continue through August 26th at www.stisidorecyo.org.

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN REGISTRATION_DATES FROM PRIOR SEASONS.

Qualified players are any boys or girls who are in the third through eighth grade and meet any of the following:

Attend St. Isidore School, or Attend Faith Formation (both this year and last year), or Live within St. Isidore Parish boundaries

Preference is given to St. Isidore School and Faith Formation students and to

returning players . The eligibility status of all players – returning and new - will be verified before they are placed on a team.

If necessary, potential players will be put on a waiting list pending availability. We try our best to get all children on a team. Every year our program reaches capacity of 900 players so sign up soon!

Player evaluation dates will be in early to mid-September. Evaluation dates will be posted on the website as we get closer to September. Practices will start in late September with league play beginning in early November.

2016 CYO Cross Country Season

Registration is now open. St. Isidore's CYO Cross country program is an eight week program that offers children of all abilities a fun introduction to the sport of running. The season will run from Monday, August 22 to October 21. Practices will be on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at 5PM.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM St. Isidore Parish was honored at our July 16th 4:00 o’clock Mass by Ruben Rodriguez of St. Peter Martyr Parish,

Pittsburgh. Wanting to show their gratitude with something tangible, he gra-ciously presented a plaque to us in apprecia-tion for our “generous par-ticipation” in the Adopt a Family for Christmas pro-gram. Ruben also gave a short history of St. Peter Martyr Parish in Pittsburg, which celebrated their centennial last year. We have a special connection with this parish as Msgr. Daniel Cardelli was at one time their pastor!

Please note that this year our Adopt-a-Family program will begin earlier than in the past; we hope to have all the families adopted by October 16th.
