WHAT ARE PRAYER SHAWLS?
The purpose of a prayer shawl is to give someone a tangible example of God’s love and care. The shawl is made of soft yarn so the recipient can wrap up in it and feel God’s arms around him or her.
A prayer shawl is made with prayer. The maker of the shawl prays before, during, and after they work on the shawl.
If you or a loved-one are experiencing any kind of pain, please call the office at 623-979-4202 to request a prayer shawl.

THE FISHERMAN’S TOMB
by: John O’Neill - $11.95
We want to ask the Holy Spirit to help us to believe
more strongly in Jesus’ presence in the Blessed
Sacrament. We want to ask Him to fill us with the
blessings, the joy, and the grace that are waiting for us as
we spend time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration! Pope
John Paul II (Saint) urged that the “worship given to the
Trinity...must fill our churches outside of the timetable of
Masses.” “Let us be generous with our time in going to
meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of
faith.” Come and see! Adoration is open to all from
5:30am to 7pm...then doors are locked. If one takes an
hour during locked time, please call for code. Hours

Dear fellow parishioners, St Vincent de Paul Society (St Helen Conference) would like to continue to thank you for your continued support. It truly helps to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. We do, however, find ourselves short of the following items in our pantry; jelly, hamburger helper, toilet paper, canned pasta sauce, canned chicken and shampoo. The dry goods bin is located near the southwest part of the church. Again, thank you for your continued support. God Bless, St Vincent de Paul St Helen Conference

If you haven’t heard, we’ve transitioned Jr high and High school youth ministry to EDGE and Life Teen. But, what is Edge and Life Teen?
Edge is a Catholic middle school youth ministry program. Edge provides a safe fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their
questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. Edge presents Catholic teaching in a way that young people can understand. Edge answers the needs of grades 6th-8th in a catechetical, fun, and relevant way and provides a foundation for youth to continue onto Life Teen in high school.
As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads high school teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor
and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church. Through the Mass and Life Nights, high school teens learn more about their Catholic faith and grow to love the Sacraments, the Word, and the Liturgy. Our hope is that these youth ministry changes will enhance parish life and allow Youth Ministry to flourish here. In September 2018, LIFE TEEN [grades 9-12] will meet Sunday evening after 4:30 Mass until 7:30pm. And, then, EDGE [grades 6-8] will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm.

A teenage boy told the pope that he was trying hard to believe in God and be faithful, but that he often struggled with doubt. “What can you say to help me and others like me?” he asked the Pope. Pope Francis answered:
“Journeying is an art because if we’re always in a hurry, we get tired and don’t arrive at our journey’s goal,” he said. “If we stop, we don’t go forward and we also miss the goal. Journeying is precisely the art of looking toward
the horizon, thinking where I want to go but also enduring the fatigue of the journey, which is sometimes difficult. … There are dark days, even days when we fail, even days when we fall … but always think of this: Don’t be afraid of failures. Don’t be
afraid of falling. What matters in the art of journeying isn’t not falling but not staying down. Get up right away and continue going forward. This is what’s beautiful: This is working every day, this is journeying as humans. But also, it’s bad walking alone: It’s bad and boring. Walking in community, with friends, with those who love us, that helps us. It helps us to arrive precisely at
that goal, that ‘there where’ we’re supposed to arrive.” (Address of Pope Francis to the students of the Jesuit schools of Italy and Albania).
Please consider this an invitation to journey with God and to make some friends along the way. The road to becoming and being Catholic is “sometimes difficult…but don’t be afraid”, you will never be walking this beautiful road alone.
The journey of Christian Initiation into the Church at St. Helen Catholic Parish will begin on July 29 at 9:30am-10:30am in Rooms 2 and 4 next to the playground. Email Pete at [email protected] or call me at 623.500.3215 if you have any questions.
