CATHOLIC QUOTES - WORDS TO INSPIRE THE FAITHFUL
"Be attentive to the voice of grace." - St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
When Jesus traveled to Jerusalem as a
12-year-old young man, he felt completely at home in the Temple. He enjoyed talking to the teachers about his Father in heaven. His questions and his answers showed how much he loved God.
Dear God, help me to feel at home in my church like Jesus did.

Families are complicated systems. They can be the most
transformingor themost hurtful ofexperiences. Our families of
originhaveahugeclaimonwhoweareandwhowewillbecome.
Whilefamilies need tohelpus fulfill someof our human needs,
this cannot be their sole purpose or focus. Healthy and happy
Family is the perfect exampleofhowall families canwork:our
families of origin, the families in which we now find ourselves,
and the family of our world. Maywe look to their example in
helping us fine-tune our
systemsof family life so thatGod's presence can truly be
revealedinandthroughthem!
Christian Stewardship acknowledges that everything we have and hold comes from God, given to us for our good and the good of the world. A Stewardship response calls us to return to the Lord the first fruits of all that had been given. Traditionally for many, this means the first hour of our weekly income. At St. Gianna’s, all are asked to consider this measure of Stewardship as the beginning of their annual parish financial support. In Manitoba, the hourly minimum wage is currently $11.35. Therefore, the starting point for our financial offering should at least reflect this minimum. If the household is a dual income family, then the starting point of our gift would be $22.70. The goal of Christian Stewardship is to eventually grow toward true Christian Tithing, which means 10% of our total household income. All gifts that we give to God always comes back manifold.

Christmas Liturgy ScheduleMary, the Holy Mother of God Liturgy Schedule
Monday, December 31 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019 - 10:00 a.m.
So often we might think that the Christmas Season only comprises of the Celebration of December 25th, The Nativity of the Lord. However, the celebration of Christmas and the fullness of the event continues for many days. Additional Feasts included in the Christmas Season are: The Feast of the Holy Family (December 31st), celebrating the incarnation of Jesus within the context of the Human Family, The Feast of Mary, the Mother of God (January 1st) , celebrating the joining together of humanity and divinity in Jesus, The Feast of the Epiphany (January 6th) celebrating the manifestation of God’s presence for all peoples and all nations, and finally The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (January 13th), celebrating the inauguration of the earthly mission and ministry of Jesus among us. Once all five Feasts have been celebrated, we can say that the celebration of Christmas is complete.

Kerygma - Burning Questions of Faith- Thursday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the narthex
Some questions submitted so far: What does it mean that Mary is ever-virgin? If married to Joseph, why would she need to remain ever-virgin? When a person dies, how will we know anything of heaven when we are brain dead? Can God forgive me even if I do not go to confession? How does the priest turn bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ? Why does our Church encourage tithing? What does the Eucharistic presence of Christ mean? If you wish to submit a topic or question, please submit it by January 3 to Fr. Darrin via email entitled ‘Kerygma question’ to [email protected]. All submissions will be kept confidential and only the topic or question will be presented in the session.
A Very BIG Thank You!Thank you to all those who participated in baking all of the delicious treats and to all those who joined our Fellowship Ministry to serve them and
the refreshments after each of our Christmas Liturgies.
From Fr Darrin…It is with sadness that we accept the sudden and unexpected departure of Fr. Kelly as our Parochial Vicar. Only with us for six months, we all agree his time with us was too short. Unfortunately, the pastoral circumstances of St. Ann’s Parish requires his presence at this time. We wish Fr. Kelly well in his new endeavour.
Fr. Kelly completes his assignment with us on December 30th.
Parish Pictorial DirectoryIf you had your photo taken for our first parish photo directory and have not yet picked up your copy, they will be available

Administrative Office - Holiday HoursThe office will be CLOSED December 30, 31 & January 1. Regular office hours resume Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
