Anyone that travels down the main hall at St. Mary Catholic School would never be confused about the season or time of year. That is unless award-winning artwork from competitions are being displayed. This is due to the wonderful Art Program under the direction of Mrs. Cindy Claybar, Art Teacher. This week students have been working on fall-themed depictions. First grade students of Mrs. Melinda King: Pictured are bottom (left to right) Nylah Thomas, Katie Boehme, Audrey Broussard, Kaylee Lanting and Emma Davidson. Back row (left to right) Tristan Balthazar, Korbin Walker, Luke Laugh-lin, James Van Wright, Sean Nieto, Justin Khatt and Matthew Nguyen.
Imagine Sisters!
Did you hear about the Olympic speed skater who became a nun? Or the high profile British Journalist who joined a convent? Thousands of women have incredible stories about falling in love— Not with Mr. Right, but with Jesus Himself. Their lives are marked by sacrifice, prayer, hard work, and joy. Read their stories at imaginesisters.org, a movement to spread the good news about religious life. You might ask: What can I do to help more young men and women discern the priesthood or the religious life?
1. Encourage teens. Boys first consider priesthood on average at 16. 2. Invite, invite, invite! 82% of men ordained in 2017 were encouraged to consider priesthood by an
average of 4 people. 3. Promote prayer in the parish. Before entering seminary, 3/4 of new priests regularly attended Eu-
charistic Adoration and 69% regularly prayed the rosary. Do you have someone in mind who may make a good priest or nun? Mention it to them. Even if they are not called, it is a compliment to their faith-one they will never forget!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This week, I received the October Bishop's Faith Appeal report. It revealed that we have now surpassed our BFA goal of $76,146.00 by $1,835.00. This is such wonderful news since we still have the income from the pledges for November and December to come in. I wish to thank all of you who have made pledges to the BFA, and in spite of the challenges that our community has faced with Tropical Storm Harvey, you have stood by your commitment to your parish and your diocese. The funds that are received above our goal will be returned back to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, and will be used for our special programs next year as we celebrate our 40th anniversary as a Catholic community. In hearty thanksgiving, Fr. Sinclair Oubre, J.C.L. Pastor
