Pastor’s Reflection
Last Saturday before and after the 4:00 pm Mass the foliage around the parish property and in the neighborhood was spectacular. The sun was shining and bringing out those vibrant reds, golden yellows and bold oranges. I don’t know whether it was peak or past peak but it sure was lovely to behold. They say that in the fall, as the chlorophyll drains from the leaves, they begin to show their true colors which the green life blood of the leaves masks throughout the summertime. Each leaf from each tree offers something different and makes its own contribution to the beautiful landscape. This beautiful aspect of nature says something very important about our own human nature. Each and every one is created in the image and likeness of God yet individual, unique and differ-ent from one another. Each of us has some unique color to offer the forest of life, something unique to offer to the community of mankind and if we don’t share it, humanity is the worse for it. Humanity is also the worse for it when any individual is prevented in one way or another from of-fering all that he or she has to give. We are also reminded that ,as we age, our colors begin to shine even more brightly. Growth in wisdom, age and grace can bring out the best in all of us. It is as we grow ever closer to leaving this world that our contribution becomes ever more evident. In this month of All Souls we remember those who have gone before us and who have added color to our lives and made our passing through so much more beautiful. We give thanks to God for the gift of each and every one who has been part of our lives and in unique ways have meant something to us. May God bless and give rest to each and every one of them and may their prayers for us help us to shine every more brightly ourselves in the lives of others.
Father Plante P. S. I wish to thank all of those who were members of this year’s 12 week club. Last Sunday’s dinner was a great get-together for the parish. It’s always a good fund raiser for the parish but, more importantly, it is a great way to build fellowship and family spirit. Thanks to Cheryl and for all who helped her to make the club very successful again this year.

Knights of Columbus Honors Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Program began in 1960 as a project of the Columbian Squires of North America to honor the Blessed Virgin, under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. The program has continued since then as a project of Squires circles, councils and Fourth Degree assemblies in several jurisdictions. In 2001, Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson expanded the program by beginning the “Running of the Rose” from the 119th Annual Meeting of the Supreme Council in Ontario. Today five Silver Roses travel from Canada to the United States to Monterey, Mexico, arriving at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe there on Dec. 12, which is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Silver Rose began its travel through Rhode Island on Saturday, October 12. The Silver Rose will be at our St. Francis Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. The John F. Kennedy Council invites all parishioners and friends to join us at 7:00pm as we pray the Rosary for Life. The Silver Rose will end its journey on the Feast of Our lady of Guadalupe, December 12th at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven Ct., which is the birthplace of the Knight of Columbus.
